cedric_errol
We have North and East Philippine Sea (Philippine Sea). We also have South Philippine Sea (technically it's Celebes Sea). What's stopping us from calling it West Philippine Sea? Ever heard of a North and West China Sea? Edited August 12, 2011 by cedric_errol Quote Link to comment
cedric_errol
China asserts that their historical maps include the Spratly Islands which according to their point of view means that the islands belong to them. The problem is UNCLOS rejects historical maps as basis. Our DFA officers challenged their government to bring it to the International Court. Their Chinese ministers naturally hesitated. camiar
soon the next headline on the news will be: "Philippine Navy Cutter, cut in half by Chinese Navy" The Chinese will use their blue water navy to keep their sea lanes and supply routes open. I doubt if they will ever use them to invade smaller countries like the Philippines. Not good for their relationship with the rest of their Asian neighbors. I don't think the Chinese will invade any other part of the Philippines except the Spratlys. Once they take hold of the Spratlys that's it na, otherwise they will risk getting the ire of the other asian countries. This will happen as soon as there is confirmation that there's a lot of good quality oil in and around the Spratlys. But then that will also be a good reason for Uncle Sam to come to the aid of the Philippines, in the meantime puro "word war" lang iyan. Quote Link to comment
