  1. walang night life sa bohol.... bawal may curfew dun...

95% of bohol is Catholic Solid...kaya very traditional ang mga tao dun...

if you like Chicks bring your own from manila... or go to cebu for a night dun sigura do

    buhay ang night life....

    how true!

and bohol residents are soooo catholic because if you read history, you'll find out that miguel lopez de legaspi's group had a hard time colonizing/fighting natives in cebu and elsewhere. it was only sikatuna of bohol who was sold to legaspi's talk of 'genuine friendship'. that pact eventually paved way to 300 years of slavery. no wonder they put up so many churches here. churches that could double up as fortifications judging from their architecture

tip: bring beer bottles or beer cans before going to 'blood compact' statues. para kunwari kasama ka sa inuman nila when you pose

  2. Working on one, but haven't had time for the setup. I find the AV cable from Apple too expensive so I am ordering online for one which has not been delivered (Apple HDMI - HDMI) from monoprice.com.

greenhills tiangge shops are selling memory adaptors (1 set for usb and sd readers) for 4k plus. rather stiff but i am considering buying one set 'cause they will come handy when transferring videos and photos from your camera while on long trips without a laptop

sun's wifi is limited to m.manila only, kept having a bad day with smart bro so i threw it away. so i bought a globe tattoo for use with my ipad2-wifi64gig. hmp, works only 60% of the time. connection won't stay on for a long time too. f__k u, globe!

  3. i'm still using starry night software. it's a very old version but still the best for me.

for beginners who want to familiarize themselves with the constellations and bright stars my personal best recommendation is "A Walk Through the Heavens" by Heifetz and Tirion. if national bookstore doesn't carry it, try amazon.com

  4. (ot) equally steep is the price of custom-painted shirts at lonely planet shirt boutique (between station 1 and station 2). but if your heart's really in it, better order your shirts at your first day in boracay so you can pick them up before you leave.

actually, most hotels and 'mini-hotels' there will charge you an arm and a leg. i often stay at club 10, just a few stalls before station 1

(ot) oh, it feels great to walk barefooted on the sands especially before 7am when the tide is low and the grotto is easy to approach and climb

  5. I can't imagine how an HDMI cable could malfunction. It's just a cable with no moving parts, no electronics... unless it's plugged and unplugged.

I have a CDR king wireless router that's been on for 4 years straight. The black one. 3 lan cables are physically connected to it and several wireless devices also.

All my hard disk enclosures, 5 of them are still functioning. They are only used for backing up and then stored for a few months.

I have an 8G thumb drive, the cheapest type. 4 months and its reading errors already.

I bought a wireless security camera labeled with 20 meters night vision. It couldn't see beyond 5 meters. I returned it and got a refund.

    OFF TOPIC:

this is my personal experience with outlets and cables -- some ultra cheap outlets and cables are maybe low in copper percentage (composition). that's why my house guests (especially electrical engineers) are often dumbfounded whenever i show them my made-in-china outlet. my nokia cellphone charges whenever i plug its charger there but not my daughter's picky sony ericcson charger. the latter however charges without problem in an eagle-brand outlet. believe it or not. i suspect the contacts are not as good conductor as they should be.

as for the cables, maybe the same reason applies. no wonder almost ALL myphone users buy a second charger after a few months: the charger that comes with the box are defective within a couple of months use, KAHIT ANONG INGAT ANG GAWIN MO SA CHARGER. i should know, many of my employees bought myphone and they got the same bad experience. not to mention myphone's bad 1-week-only warranty for their chargers! i was also a victim of myphone.

  6. I only know of the one in Market!Market!

it's at the fifth level, i estimated the height to be 60' high (standard is 40'). the holds are too damn big, and i can understand: it's the height that will tire you

too bad their store there don't sell holds and stuffs i need to build one in my yard. any suggestions where i can buy them in metro manila?

  7. Hi,

This thread is about STARGAZING abd everything connected with it.

Share your experiences, practices, where you could buy astronomical telescopes (astro scope), its astro scope parts, etc.

at 17, i used to be one of the first batch members of astronomical society of the philippines. we made our own lenses for reflective teles. i bought my meade when i was 23 but i gave it to my high school nephew who was more enthusiastic than i was. now i'm contented using a 20deg-30deg planisphere and a binoculars.

if it's stargazing only with your naked eyes, ilocos nights are tops. they're mostly cloudless probably because of their location's predominantly hot weather. i always time my trips there so it's new moon. it's worth mentioning that after spending a few hours in a ktv there, i went back to my hotel around midnight, i was surprised to see some tourists staring the star-filled sky. it turned out they requested the hotel (located outside laoag) to turn off the lights outside that night. so i joined them lying on our backs and admiring what i haven't seen since childhood. i didn't have to use binoculars but orion nebula never looked much better. i'd say it's a night filled with stars, even mag 4 stars stared back at my old eyes. yeah, i felt the same what a frenchman exclaimed later: c'est magnifique!

fyi: iphone and itouch owners can use Pocket Universe to point the unit to a particular star to know it's name (aside from some paltry info). that's how i've learned i was looking at some mag 4 stars. i envied the young ones that night, i'm sure they saw fainter objects. but for an oldtimer, i was the happiest in that group

  8. Speaking of external hard drives, their items are considerably more expensive than the ones in Gilmore. For example, a 320gb external HD from them can cost around 3.3k - 4k+, while the market price of this item in most shops in Gilmore are below 3k.

trusting your backup data to unknown brands of hd is a no-no for me.

  9. pwede na naman siguro pa DNA yan, kasi as far as phil.law is concern kung hindi kayo kasal at di acknowledge ang bata, eh usually sa nanay yan.pero if you could establish paternity and filiation...eh pwede ka maka kuha sa court ng custody o parental rights.

you're right, my kinship to the child can be established. but why should i go into the trouble of acknowledging it?

  10. time for me to tell my story here...comments are welcome...advice? with almost 10 years of clubbing experience and only 2 major mistakes, i probably won't listen to any advice...so no offense to anyone...

i met C during the mid year of 2009...our relationship was built upon a rebound in which she was getting over her ex while i was being the charming assh*le that i usually am...when she fought with her manager (mainly because of our relationship), we decided that it was better for her to leave her group and we shack up together...

the "live-in" phase was hard...we struggled to pay the rent, the bills and her tuition fee for what was supposed to be her 1st semester in college...it wasn't about money for her since she was earning more than i was and would sometimes even give me money when i was short...she was very selosa and did not like it when i went out with my friends who were mainstays of clubbing...oftentimes i would find my self stuck at home on a Saturday night, doing the laundry while my other friends were out clubbing...it was a hard life but i had no complaints because i loved her that much...

she cheated on me on our 5th month...some little punk who used to put the moves on her in their old neighborhood...she let the guy into our pad (as well as another couple) when i went home to my house during the weekend...salisi ika nga...she insists up to this day that nothing happened and they just had a drinking session...i'm no fool and i know that the guy couldn't have spent the night in my place without something happening with him and my girl...i was furious and i did some things that i'm not proud of during my angry state...yet i eventually forgave her and offered her another chance...

a week after her transgression, she took a pregnancy test which turned out to be positive...my first reaction naturally was "SIGURADO KA BA AKIN YAN?"...this led to another whole week of non-stop fighting...i forgave her still and we tried to peacefully co-exist with each other...truth be told, there wasn't really any doubt in my mind that the baby was mine since i did her LIVE almost every day when we were together...malas nalang siguro kung may nakasalisi at naka-jackpot sa kanya nung nakatalikod ako, pero i doubt it...yet i knew the moment she cheated on me that our relationship was about to end very soon...i was just waiting for the right moment to break it off with her...

she gave me the opportunity on her fourth month of pregnancy...for the first time since she got pregnant, she threatened to break-up with me...i was angry outside yet ecstatic inside...pagkakataon ka na ito so i gladly broke up with her...the thing about me is when i break up with someone, i never look back...in her case, i managed to talk to her and tell her that we could never work out since we were fighting everyday and had grown tired of each other...it was a surprising reversal of roles since i was usually the clingy one when she still wasn't preganant...now she was the one who was crying and trying to salvage the relationship...it gave me a perverted sense of satisfaction to know that i was the one in control now...

she gave birth to the baby girl 2 weeks ago...my family covered all the expenses of her pregnancy (check-ups, medication and the C-Section)...understandably, her family doesn't want met to have custody of the baby...i'm still hoping to see my child and eventually raise her...undoubtedly, the kid will have a better future with me than with her family...i just pray to God that she realizes that and gives the child a better chance to live life...

hehehe. no advise for you master mhengh. i'll direct my statements to the general ktv-going male guy.

admit it guys, there's a martyr inside us all. it's a personal opinion if you equate 'martyr' = 'fool'.

i'd been through hellish relationships with so many ktv angels that i can say i had enough. now whenever an angel claims she's pregnant with my child, i just shrug it off. i believe there's no guy so handsome or so rich (or so ... fill this blank with whatever adjective that comes to your mind) that a ktv girl will be 100% honest with, blaming intoxication or not. ok ok i'm too harsh on ktv girls. maybe new girls with only a week's experience might become (lifetime) honest if you take them 'home'. then again, maybe they'll not be.

  11. totoo bang si April Boy Regino ang may-ari ng Cowboy Grill? nagtatanong lang po...

that's a good question considering shakey's branches are franchised units. maybe this cowboy grill is also a shakey's franchise, whose owner could be April Boy Regino. funny thing is, although i frequent this place, i never saw him or heard his name mentioned.

  12. PANCHITA'S near waltermart makati. j.victor st... kaya lng sobrang daming customers pag lunch time

inside waltermart erod is a jap fastfood, so-called because it has a few japanese dishes but filipino dishes dominate their menu. one meat viand + one veggie viand + rice + iced tea is about P 80 on the average. taste is ok lang

on the side note, don't order anything japanese there. hehehe.

  13. Dining out is relaxation, writing about it is work. :P Hope to join one of the group's food trips.

I haven't "covered" the Chinatown area yet, but it seems promising. So is Barcino. Been to new tapas bar in Greenbelt, though--Cerveseria. :) Will post FR in proper thread.

i heard on the radio these rains will continue on for several days. this means binondo estero will be out of the list.

  14. planning to buy the iphone 4 this week. anything i should know like bugs, quirks, etc?

globe offered me the prepaid kit at 43k. i was thinking of buying from other shops but got to thinking that the warranty might not be as good though.

besides, these shops aren't authorized to sell so its a bit risky.

    what do you think?

two of my friends own an iphone 4, hina raw ng reception compared to their other phones in the same area, with the same networks. sometimes they hang.

  15. help anyone,

where could you suggest a good place with good food and affordable budget.

    for first dates.

wow, considering you're in marikina, let your wallet decide. it won't hurt doing some research in the internet (like this site), then scouting the place yourself. if you're planning to eat with special someone, check if the place's ambience will be suitable for both of you.

  16. just been to a nokia center. they got this new dual sim phone (their first in the line, nokia's a me-too this time, but it's not their first me-too product) but even the staff are not so excited selling it. they kept saying to us customers to wait till their next dual-sim model gets in. the culprit is this: there's no dual-standy mode. meaning, you can put in 2 sims before covering them with the battery but you can use only 1 sim at a time. the switch key doesn't help at all.

    ...

nokia finally learned it should enter the dual sim market. recently, they came up with nokia x1, now with dual standy capability, priced at 1,995 pesos in all nokia centers. i bought mine in orange (comes in blue, black and red colors) because my youngest daughter kept yanking my arm for it (i suspect she wants it later, knowing i got bored with new toys after a while). and just like anyone who just bought a cellphone i curiously check its features.

    first, the cons:

for a candybar, it's kinda heavy and thick. there's a screensaver function which doesn't work at all, the date can't change its dd-mm-yyyy format to the more familiar mm-dd-yyyy, it accepts only mp3 files for playing music.

    now, the pros:

its box boasts standby length of 36 days and with talktime of 13 hours! kinda hard to believe but when i check some sites in the web, the standby time is 61 days! and one review says you can play with its music for 36 hours straight! hmm, this one is for travellers who hate bringing along a charger. there are 16 themes to choose from, i chose the orange motif immediately and liked it a lot. there are buttons at the left for the music playing function, and a large speaker at the back. you can load it with up 16gig of microsd card. there's radio although you have to plug in the earphones

best of all, it's dirt cheap!

  17. When I first suggested the opening of this particular thread, I had wanted it like some kind of a FOODIE LOUNGE wherein we can all talk about anything. (so long as the talk is about Food and Restos)......... the said thread will allow some of the following:

    1. Comments for the Food Trip FR
    2. Making suggestions as to where is a good place for Foodtrip.
    3. Organizing Food Trip EBs
    4. Etc Etc

Anyway, lets hope the mods will give us that leeway. (or we can suggest the changing of the thread title to something else to accomodate the said topics)

that's a brilliant concept, sir asmo. it's like we're a group of persons talking about the foods on the table during our meal, but each one ordering from his own different menu

  18. which one did you try ??? the more plain one with the ginger or the one with the tomato pesto confit ????

I've brought along several foodtrip companions over and most of them gave the thumbs-up for the latter.

i remember my dory was literally 'swimming' in sauce (mixed spices but dominated by ginger of course). yes, the ginger somewhat overpowered the 'timid' natural taste of dory but nevertheless i found the munching enjoyable. next time i'll try that dory with pesto if i pass by the place again. meanwhile, it's all grilled and steamed foods for me while losing weight

btw, cowboy grill's veggy pizza is commendable. the tomatoes, onions and green pepper on cheese are all crunchy, just like the bread. the pizza bread's not oily: i never asked but i think it's pugon heated after spreading on the toppings.
