  1. well said!!! it is really difficult to earn your first million in Philippines ... its not the money .. its not the value of it but how you earned it and the values earned despite the challenges and difficulties.

    nicely put!

earning 1 million is easy, saving 1 million is difficult! now if you can bleed your first million to produce more millions, then you got it made.

made my first 1 million when i was 30

  2. just got out from hafchan west ave. it's sunday so the place is nearly deserted. i counted there were about 9 employees yakking in the dining area. i called out for a menu, nobody heard me. i called out louder, still nobody came. then i shouted "tama na daldalan, customer muna intindihin nyo! bigyan nyo ako ng menu!" with a sneer the tall waiter handed me one. whereupon, i got up saying "nawalan na ako ng gana. kawawa amo nyo, kaya pala walang pumapasok sa inyo puro lang daldalan kayo", then i left.

really, i felt sorry for the owner, he should send spies to his own restaurants by random

by the way, if not for that incident, i wanted to order 'stuffed eggplant' and 'chopsuey gisado' here

  3. I was also reading for some underwater camera reviews as I am also planning to get one. I tried using Olympus before, but wasn't so impressed. Lumix is my new bet (and now saving up for it.) :)

good luck to your plan to buy lumix. my lumix was flooded after 2 uses, in spite of following all their precautions. the 0-ring must be replaced every year (you'll read this in its manual's small prints) and the replacement price might set up back

well i finally got wiser (after reading lonewolf69's suggestion) and bought myself a SEASHELL underwater case from infomax. the owner's a friend of mine so i got a hefty discount. now, NO MORE WORRIES! i've brought it 30' underwater in boracay and other places. i use it with a samsung st550. you may use it with any type of handy camera.

  4. Since the inception of the Masskara until the 1990s , the center of the Masskara was the public plaza. I assume you have gone to Bacolod during the Masskara in the 1990s.

oh well, it's masskara time again!

  5. Apo View Hotel S U C K S!!!

    1. Services of front desk officers & house keeping -not accomodating, they don't control "DAW" the housekeeping so pag me concerns ka itatransfer pa call mo, even sa security guards. Consistently, you have to "ask" pa for complimentary bottled water everyday after imake up yung room mo & it takes 1-2hrs before dumating!

    2. Rooms - Luma, amoy amag & may daga pa yung Suites. Some of the rooms naka off ang refrigerator na luma so alam na kung anong amoy ng room mo!

    3. Elevator - OLDSCHOOL & ang layo sa entrance ng hotel so parang naglakad ka ng 1block!

    4. Parking - They dont have reservation for hotel guests DAW, it's a 1st come 1st served basis even you are a regular customer na, so pag saturday you have to wait pa ng slot kasi may bar sa ilalim you have to wait pang maguwian till 2 or 3am before ka magkaavailble!

3 weekends ako nag try baka magbago ang services nila but disappointed still.

Not Value for Money & Hindi ka marerelax dito!

This weekend Marco Polo will do :D

recently i was a victim of this place too!

  6. You can get Shangrila. Try mo sa agoda.com

shangrila? why stay in a place with swimming pool(s) when you are in boracay? why pay for extras you won't have time to use?

last time we were here we stayed at seabird, between station 1 and 2. it's just one store away from the beach. and at P 2,200 for 3 persons a night it's a steal. breakfast is not included, which is ok for me since i prefer having my breakfast in astoria. another good choice is le soleil. my family stayed before in club 10 but the place's rate is too stiff.

the expert phoenix fire dancers of beach bum bar were 'pirated' by astoria. beach bum bar's performers are amateurs but still entertaining. no more skits though. another night spot with fire dancing is sandbar. my companions borrowed the fire poi's from the beach bum performers and had a very good time.

  7. OK pa bang mag bora ngaun? diba maulan at maalon na?

normal sa bora ang ambon any day of the year. anyway, from august to january, tourists are ferried at the far side of the stations. di kasi maalon mag ferry papunta ron

  8. i mis lunch at loboc

when in hinagdanan cave, make sure your guide is the hare-lipped guy (forgot his name, couldn't quite hear it right anyway, ehehe). he's got funny lines you will double up laughing

  9. any advice for someone who's travelling alone? i've been to bohol at least 3 times before but all of them were on the eastern side (away from the main resorts and happening place). I'll be in tagbilaran on business and will probably stay one or two nights. any place you guys can suggest?

At the eastern part of bohol there's a town called anda. U may rent a boat there for a very short ride at the other side of the town where there are ancient hanging coffins like in sagada

  10. For me Bohol Tropics din the best, lalo na pagdating ng breakfast na buffet sa labas pagsikat ng araw grabe ganda ng view. If your going to bohol don't miss the ff:

    Bee Farm

    Chocolate Hills

    Tarsier at Loboc River

Loboc River Boat ride with matching kainan din

    Largest Phyton in the island

    Under water restaurant

Yung hanging bridge which I forgot the name na pero unforgettable yung kasi dadaan mo eh kawayan na bridge na sobra dulas kapag kakatapos lang umulan

    yung man made forest

    At jollibbee!

saan ito? can you name the place please?

  11. Agree. However if u really want the best tasting lechon, balat or laman, try the ones from Talisay, kung baga parang lutong bahay lang. But the best i've tasted was from Carmen town, 35 km north of cebu city. The meat is soft and tender, and the balat is crispy because they roast pigs that are really young.

i'm always for the lutong bahay, especially when it's not cooked at home. hehehe. nakakasawa na kasi mga kinakain ko sa bahay

an old classmate of mine and his cebuana wife are physicians in cebu. when our class reunion was held in his house he introduced us to his lechonero, a small guy who raises his own pigs. it was the best lechon we ever tasted. crispy skin and tender meat, both tasted heavenly. not much knowledgeable in botany, i can't quite name the spices and greens he inserted at the emptied carcass before he roasted it. turned out this guy also supplies several well-known politicians in manila. he roasted his pig at my friend's house because his wife is a long-time patient of the couple. btw, his lechon is not salty, probably influenced by frequent requests of his clients

  12. i actually don't mind if the fish is stored in a frozen state (better than having spoiled fish) ...... as long as when it is time to serve them, they should at least be thawed properly so that we taste more of the fish (and less of the ice crystals)

Same sentiment here. Anyway, I rate tempura's (in front of mcdo t.morato) salmon sashimi the best among the sashimis.

In comparison, teriyaki boy's salmon sashimi tastes awful

  13. some of the underwater casings for camera are soo bulky. quite difficult to lug around. i'm eyeing a D10 (since forever!) but i don't know i'm still not super convinced if i should get it.

canon d10 is bulky too and its color won't fit any other occasion aside from a beach activity. but according to some users its shots (underwater and above) are better than underwater cameras like lumix, ge, etc.

the only drawback is its video which can record only vga quality and it can't record sound

i wonder why canon never made another underwater camera

  14. Underwater recreation is not cheap, more if you decide to take snap of its beauty but it's worth it. Try to use your normal digital camera with underwater camera housing. You can try lower end housing like ikelite if budget is the deciding factor. Don't buy cheap uw casing from camera manufacturers, they do not specialized in that area - it's a waste. Once you flood your camera it is not logical to send it for repair. It is even more not logical to buy another camera to be flooded by the same uw casing, that being said, you waste both your camera and uw camera housing. Some of the important factors are proper equipment selection, operation, maintenance and storage. Do not exceed the rated depth, it's not worth the try.

Underwater camera housing can be fitted with accessories like arms and strobes for better picture quality if you decide to take underwater photography seriously.

Proper maintenance after each dive is a must or you risk your camera being flooded.

after throwing away (literally) 3 underwater cameras (ge, fujipix, lumix) i finally decided to buy a SEASHELL housing (from infomax, with a big discount). it's configurable so after following the instructions, i finally snug-fitted my samsung t550 inside it in a few minutes. tried it in matabungkay last sunday, no problem under 3-meter depths. haven't tried it deeper (it's rated for 40m) but i'm confident it will still be airtight.

  15. aside from a blackberry 9900 (for my sun sim), i'm using the cheapest samsung dual sim duos.

overall value for money, it's a winner. try typing the first few digits of a phone number and lower side of the screen will show choices of names from your contact list. this is one great feature blackberry should emulate. you can easily program the keys for shortcut (contacts or phone features). and the sound? as loud as i want it to be

  16. Bacolod .. My favorites would be the kansi from this city. Aboy's , Kerrs lechon, Roli's,.. Of course I can never forget the girls Carding provides at Goldenfield. Fine dining at hbm prices this was way back in the 90's Rumors was still open then.

for those who are lucky enough to go as far as mambukal resort, the 'dampa' type of stalls there cook quite well what you may consider as 'lutong bahay'.

some oldtimers, like myself, still consider 'chicken inasal' at Manokan Country to be the authentic and the best. bacolod is considered as the beer capital of the philippines and Manokan Country as the longest row of beerhouses. during Masskara nights this row is filled with people eating and drinking in the street. prudent health food advocates may consider their inasals as greasy but that's really the way it should be. and what better way to eat the greasy chicken but gulping it down with a cold beer?
