I remember the "mag beer muna tayo" theme but I don't remember this commercial. Would you know what year this commercial was shown on tv?

I think this came out around 1975. That's comedian Bert "Tawa" Marcelo with movie villain Rocco Montalban (as "Bruno").

The place to stroll then in Araneta Center, Cubao were Farmer's Market, Fiesta Carnival, Rustan's Superstore and Ali Mall. Our favorite theater was Cinema 21, the only one with the reclining seats. I was a bowlwer and my homebase was Coronado Cubao in Rustan's. That's where we play the Night Driver. I dated one of the beautiful waitresses at Shakey's in Ali Mall where our friend was the manager.

In Makati Commercial Center, I remember Makati Supermart's sweet spaghetti but my favorite was Swiss Inn's bolognese. It's beside Coronado Lanes. I had my first taste of Korean food in Kimchi inside Fastfood and the Vietnamese Pho beside it. The best burger for me was at Great American Disaster in Glorietta Park where Ling Nam (our favorite favorite beef mami) was also located. Surrounding Glorietta Park were Mayfair, Angela Arcade and Bricktown. There were Syvel's, Maranaw Mart, Sulu ,Makati Supermarket, Shoe Mart and Rizal Theatre Arcade. Rustan's then was a big blue building and the Hotel Inter-Continental Manila's Where Else was our homebase at night time.

I had my first taste of Japanese food in Miyako. Mr. Ho was my dad's favorite Chinese restaurant. There's a Magnolia House inside Quad.

I remember, there were 3 art galleries aside from Ayala Museum inside the Makati Commercial Center. They were Hidalgo Gallery, Quad Gallery in Quad and Galerie Bleu in Rustan's. There was also Lising Commercial Center, Assandas and Automat. In Greenbelt area, there were 3 Discos - first was Delirium, then came Another World and later on La Cueva which became Faces in the 80s to the 90s.

I drove a 1302 beetle when I got my license (my age was faked) in 1976. It looked like this

since you can get any 2 of these for 1 VW 1302S. But my parents insisted that the Beetle was the better car. German made, thicker body, more stable and safe. It was the People's Car.

Miyako was my favorite Japanese restaurant back then. Is it still around? Now my favorite is Kimpura. There was a time when Teriyaki Boy had really great food and was reasonably priced. Today I think the quality has deteriorated a bit and the price has gone up considerably so I now avoid eating there.

Anyone know if there's a Kimpura branch in Makati which replaced the one that used to be beside Peking Garden?

Kapag ganitong mainit, we frequent the Magnolia House along Aurora Blvd. My favorite then was Brown Derby. I also remember the Dairy Queen in Buendia, Makati.

A Robinson's mall now sits in the location where Magnolia House once stood along Aurora Blvd. I passed there last night and saw the Robinson's mall for the first time since I rarely pass through the San Juan/Quezon City boundaries.

What a coincidence. Yesterday I saw a Ford Escort parked inside our village. I hadn't seen one of these in many decades. And now here's a photo of the Escort.

Peking Garden and Kimpura are back in Makati, they are at Greenbelt 5, two floors above Chili's and CPK.

Bro Muttley, I remember the first commercial, lyrics and all. But I don't recall whether I saw this commercial here in the Philippines or when I was in the US at that time. Did this commercial air here?

Yes, because I remember seeing it.

Alaska Milk Philippine Commercial Classic 1974. With PBA or was it MICAA import Cisco Kid Oliver

I clearly remember Cisco Kid Oliver and Billy Robinson teaming up in Mariwasa and going up against the likes of Tom Cowart and Paul Scranton of Crispa. I was amazed at the level of play of these guys. They were all over 6'7 inches tall and in the early 70's one usually played center if he was at least 6'1 tall!!

These guys dominated Philippine basketball in those early days.
