Traffic Problem In Metro Manila (Merged Thread)

Recommended Posts

For me it already reached its saturation point. Kahit ano iimprove it will be there. It will only ease a little.

If they want major effect, make another highway like EDSA, Taft and Rizal Ave.. To do this dapat ka magpaalis ng residents to do new roads which will be a nightmare project. These new road should absorb what current EDSA can absorb so doubling the capacity. Maybe segregate the public and private vehicles if possible.

I heard a few years ago of a plan by government to build a skyway type highway right on top of EDSA. A double deck EDSA would be great but I haven't heard anything else of this plan since that time.

Kind of hard to do this with the MRT in the middle of EDSA. The skyway extension in Osmena Highway stretching well into Manila is meant to provide an alternate route from SLEX to NLEX so people don't need to pass through EDSA to go to NLEX. I doubt this will do much to decongest EDSA though.

How bout...fix the MRT add a subway system also then improve the railway with new coaches and at least a semblance of fast train or bullet train....

just imagine a fast railway connecting the diff provinces....no need for truckloads of veggies plying the highways....just load them to the trains coaches...would encourage people to stay in their respective provinces also....if the travel time would be cut in half....

Then add more highways....a coonecting highway from the port areas to NLEX or SLEX...just for trucks only...

But the important or should i say the key here is a efficient public transport system....remove those jeepneys...maybe they can replace jeepneys with UV expresses? So that those jeepneys drivers wont complain of losing their so called "honest na trabaho"

Then ...the government can implement the phase out of old cars...

All of these are long term solutions....no shortcuts...

This is basically an engineering problem. I'm pretty sure they'll be able to put up a double decked EDSA on top of the MRT. They actually did that in the Magallanes interchange in Makati. The Skyway was built on top of the MRT tracks.

Right now, I can only dream of such a project. It was even mentioned by Noli de Castro in ABS-CBNs TV Patrol about 2 or 3 years ago. If such a project is undertaken and eventually completed, cars could have exclusive use of the elevated portion of EDSA while buses could use the existing part. This segregation of buses and cars would go a long way in decongesting EDSA and improve travel time between Quezon City and Makati.

Hopefully, the next administration will give this project serious consideration.

As for the extension of the Skyway into Manila to provide an alternate route for vehicles from the south bound for NLEX, I'm not aware of any study as to the number of vehicles that will use this alternate route. Consequently I cannot comment one way or another if this project will help alleviate traffic along EDSA.

I heard that the DPWH is planning to build an underpass along Buendia Avenue from Reposo all the way to EDSA. During the construction phase, I can imagine what horrendous traffic jams will occur in Makati.

The underpass will make possible the unimpeded flow of traffic from Ayala Avenue all the way to EDSA. Right now, vehicles along Buendia must wait for the red light on Makati Avenue and Paseo de Roxas. This unimpeded flow of vehicles will certainly further congest EDSA because vehicles can now reach EDSA in a shorter period of time. I imagine traffic build-up will begin in the underpass itself which would void the advantage of an overpass to begin with.

I just hope they complete this project at the earliest possible time.

Putting additional roads within metro manila is useless. It's better to clean up the metropolitan area instead - alisin ang mga illegal settlers, vendors na nakahambalang sa daan, and above all, disiplina sa mga commuters and drivers alike. Oh and do something about the busted traffic lights na rin.

But then again, it can only go far as wishful thinking. :ninja:

I agree. It can only improve a little but it will be there for a lifetime. Over population is the main problem in our country that causes traffic, crime, high unemployment rate, pollution, floods, lack of classrooms/schools and almost everything else.

the best solution is to develop the provinces to avoid mass migration here in metro manila....

more business, more schools and more urban areas in the provinces.

and here in manila, more roads. more skyways, more trains and fast lanes.

I agree with all these points especially the development of the provinces to avoid mass migration to Metro Manila.

It just shows how unlawful our country still is. Yung traffic laws, time-dependent, pano pa yung ibang laws.

"When the cat is away, the mice will play." As long as there are no traffic enforcers, many drivers intentionally choose to disregard traffic rules. Such as ignoring the red light. What they don't realize is that the "penalty" for disregarding the red lights could be serious injury or even death.

dont you generalize everyone as to be stubborn and selfish! its like saying that all luxury car drivers are highly educated and follow rules while those who uses corollas , lancers etc are somewhat lower

if you analyze your situation , the philippines and its leaders

you are already being robbed without you knowing it. do you even realize why the traffic is so ridiculous? the only thing they do is make skyway or flyovers but do you realize what they are doing, if you take them at the end of the ride arent you paying for it? the question is where does our tax money go?

maybe the reason is money but you got to think . . . why does the feeling of everything now requires us to pay is significantly felt? bottom line the govt doesnt have any source of money coming in aside from the peoples tax.

When an actual major earthquake occurs, no amount of planning is going to prevent the deaths of 10s of thousands of people. What's the point in going under a a table, covering your head with your hand, etc. when the building you happen to be in is 30 floors up and you're on the 25th floor. If that building collapses, it's just your time to meet your maker.

I believe it's much better if the MMDA and other rescue groups are the ones that train on how to extricate trapped people inside buildings who may still be alive. Train them how to use dogs to help locate survivors. Create budgets to procure life-saving equipment thay may spell the difference between life and death.

The drill should be done by government agencies. It's enough to inform people of the proper procedures they should take should a major earthquake occur.

All these hype about earthquake drills are useless and, as you correctly pointed out, may be designed only to give media mileage to Tolentino should he decide to run for senator.

We do not have the toys and technologies like Japan and other countries have for earthquake disasters. We barely commissioned the Doppler radar for Pagasa (kulang pa ng stations to date). Rescuing Jessie Robredo took several days, if the U.S. military did not help, I don't know if we found the DILG secretary's body in the deep blue sea.

MMDA's task to fix the Metro's Traffic problem, baha and basura is close to unsolvable so no room for papogi for Francis for his senatorial bid. Earthquake drill na lang naisip.

Si Leila naman puro Bilibid 19 and celebrated cases ang pa-beauty (also nominating herself for the senatorial bid)

grabe traffic ngayon, ultimo mga kalsada, hukay dito hukay doon.,, hayz

It's election time so naturally we will destroy roads so we can build them again. That way doble bayad. Remember the reblocking of EDSA because it is old? C5 is new but it is also being reblocked - but only in QC and Pasig areas. If the ones who originally worked on C5 did work that was not according ton standard, where are the DPWH filed cases against these people? Kung pede lang mag suggest, there is C6 to build. Makakatulong pa

What if we hired a Singaporean to be the traffic czar? He or she will not have a reason for pogi poi9nts and will not have a friend who knows a friend, who knows a friend, etc. Then we could also hire a Singaporean team whos job would be to police the police.

BTW, when Ramos was the President, we purchased a lot of motorcycles for APEC, with the rationalization that after APEC, it will be used for traffic management.; Instead, the motorcycles became escorts for every Pedro and Juan. Will that happen again?

Not sure about traffic czars, but in Singapore they implement the COE where in a per-determined quantity of vehicles are up for bid to the public. So there will be no overflowing of car population. Also they implement an ERP (Electronic Road Pricing) where they charge amounts on primary roads on prime time (rush hour or specific periods).

If we implement such in the country It will have to go through congress and senate plus protests from several sectors in society. Anyone who may raise this idea may loose his popularity.

A couple days ago, umulan sa may Buendia. Wala na halos galawan, I was wondering bakit walang galawan wala namang baha.

On a typical day bawala ang bus drivers mag stop dun, kasi huli.
