Kahit saan may SM. lol.

I agree na mahirap banggain ang mga political families, but being the Governor of Bicol, pwede naman niya pahimasukan what is good to all his towns.

My friend is one of Maam Leni's Lawyers sa mga kaso nya kay Villafuerte. Like he is trying to argue na chinese citizen daw si Jess dahil may chinese heritage sya lol. As if hey are saying na "tatandaan ka namin".

Another thing about the Villafuertes, yung mag-amang luis at LRay (Na nagmana ng kanyang pwesto sa kapitolyo) ngayon magkatunggali. Nagmumurahan silang dalawa. What is it about power that turns men into hideous monsters?

To even attempt a solution to the traffic problem, one must first be able to answer the following questions: First, why is it that busses and jeepneys can get away with murder but cargo trucks can’t get away with slight physical injury? Second, why is it that there are so many government agencies involved in traffic management but only one agency involved with passports, one agency involved with birth certificates, one agency in charge of the overall economic development of the country?

Then, thanks to the local government code, each local government has its own rules, yet, there are no clear roads signs to say whether one has crossed city boundaries. That is why we have yellow Makati boys monitoring that single block of Kalayaan Avenue from EDSA to Bonifacio Global City, and Makati green boys monitoring that less than a kilometer C5 stretch in the vicinity of the elevated U-turn; but causes traffic for kilometers in Taguig and Pasig.

We could take a look also at the qualifications of traffic managers. A lawyer? Let’s be real. Queuing theory and bottleneck studies aren’t major law subjects. And with the reputation of how the wheels of justice in the Philippines turns, we may even be lucky that it does not take decades to travel from Baclaran to Monumento.

Before that, a civil engineer? A civil engineer build structures that don’t move. A hydraulics engineer may be a better bet. Or an industrial engineer who understands production process flow.

Don’t also believe the story that the drivers are undisciplined and/or don’t know the rules. Because, why is it that these same drivers become disciplined and educated when they enter Subic?

Until we realize these, we will be nowhere near the solution to the traffic problem.

The solution is an effective mass transit system, not more roads nor over/underpasses. Case(s) in point: HK and SG.

I totally agree. If I lived in HK, I wouldn't even buy a car. The MTR system is so effective and efficient and the best thing of all is all the lines are interconnected as a network. Even the Star Ferry and bus networks are interconnected. Then using an Octopus card, it makes lining up to buy train tickets unnecessary. The Octopus card can even be used to purchase groceries. Great convenience for Hong Kong residents. I wish we had something like that here in the Philippines.

Trains travel at high speed (about 120 kph) when the distance between two stations is quite far. Case in point is the Lai King station to Tsing Yi station via the Tung Chung line of the MTR system.

I concur. The government can start retiring older models of vehicles that aren't properly maintained. Smoke belching vehicles in particular should be the first to go. Aside from alleviating traffic, the environment also benefits with clean air and the old dilapidated public and private vehicles will not be allowed to cause mayhem on the streets because of break failure which is always cited as the number one cause of major accidents especially among pubs and pujs.

hmmm i guess make the same system like columbia or something that i watch sa youtube, instead of train they use bustrain, so if ever the volume of passeger goes up they just added another bus and they just go looping with out any problem.

Yeah that's the modular concept.

the best way to solve the traffic problem is to

a, Improve public transport like the MRT and LRT

b. Buses and jeepneys should be owned and operated by the government in an effective manner, not by private entities

c. taxes on private vehicles must be increased. nowadays, for the mere amount of 30k you can bring home a car

d. widening and creation of more roads

all of these must go together

the solution is not the coding scheme but more on the effective governance and discipline by the people

I totally agree with all these proposals.

Last Wednesday, after being 4 hours delayed sa domestic flight, timing na rush hour pa sumalubong sakin pagbaba sa NAIA 3! Pagdating ng magallanes sobrang traffic bumulaga. Mula dun hangang megamall inabot ng lampas 2 oras! Sabi wala pa nga daw yan nung holiday rush.

Its too congested na. Most of our countries "protein" goes to manila. Andyan lagi ang best opportunities for anything. Wala halos sa mga probinsya. It does not also help na puros political families ang may ari ng mga probinsya.

1. Paunlarin mga probinsya. Kung pwede subukan natin magtransition to more federalized setup.

6. Magtalaga ng mas kokonting loading unloading zone. Ang hirap kasi satin, gusto natin tapat lagi mismo tayo ibababa, ayaw matuto maglakad ng konti. Baka gusto pa yata, may red carpet at bandang sasalubong. Tsaka may oras dapat pagtigil sa isang stop

7. Disiplina syempre. Isa pang problema natin, simpleng batas trapiko at batas kalye ayaw pa sundin. Asal hayop na nga sa kalsada, pag sinita mo, sasabihin violated human rights mo.

These are all excellent proposals. I particularly liked the one where provinces should be developed so people living there won't need to come to Metro Manila to look for job opportunities here. The next president should make the development of provincial areas his main goal. And there shouldn't be any politics involved such as "you are a Romualdez while the president is an Aquino". For the sake of the nation, politics should not be allowed to interfere with the development of provincial areas. Many people will voluntarily return to their provinces if employment is available over there.

But first things first. The government must provide 24 hour electric service in the provincial areas. I understand that some provinces only enjoy 12 hours of electricity. What company would want to set up their plants in an area where electricity and other vital infrastructure is sorely lacking? The government must invest first in infrastructure development of these provinces. And then companies will seriously consider putting up their operations there.

Presto, Metro Manila will be decongested as people make a bee-line for their respective provinces, never to return to Metro Manila.

its just a combination of:

a. more cars, few roads. why do people buy cars? because:

b. lack of efficient public transportation..... why?

c. lack of proper urban planning and corruption.

retiring old cars will not work..... dahil its easy to get a new car these days.... ang baba ng cash outs.

sa akin, ayusin muna ang public transportation.

Yup, an effective and efficient public transportation system will lower the demand for new cars. But the words effective and efficient pre-supposes proper maintenance of the system. Something we Filipinos are extremely poor at. Just look at the state of the MRT

I like this suggestion. A double decked EDSA sounds really appealing. If they can create a skyway on top of SLEX, why don't they do the same for EDSA? Even if it means private car owners need to pay toll, I think people would be willing to pay the toll to be able to drive from Caloocan to Pasay in 30 minutes or less. One has the choice of taking the slow route which is toll free or pay the toll and get to your destination in just a few minutes.

One very simple way to help minimize traffic is to strictly enforce the "yellow box" located at intersections. A green light gives motorists permission to cross the intersection. It does no give motorists permission to block the intersection.

So if a motorist has the green light but the road in front of him isn't moving, the motorist should not proceed. He should wait for vehicles on the road ahead to move first before attempting to cross the intersection.

Any motorist who is caught blocking the yellow box at the intersection should be made to undergo a seminar. The violation should also be recorded and each time he violates this rule will increase the penalty. 3 strikes and you're out. Violators of this rule should have their driver's license revoked for a period of at least 6 months.

Traffic is bad enough as it is without stupid people deliberately adding to it by not following traffic rules. MMDA enforcers who are tasked with keeping intersections open should stop doing this but instead apprehend drivers who block the intersections. Keep this going for at least a year, feature the rule in the news and before you know it, motorists will automatically follow this rule like it was second nature.

It's time to stop spoon feeding motorists about keeping intersections open. Drivers should be responsible enough to follow such a simple rule without traffic enforcers having to instruct them not to block the intersection. Drivers will not learn if traffic enforcers spoon feed this rule to them all the time. It's about time that motorists learn what it is to be a responsible driver without being coached by traffic enforcers.

Ditch the MMDA. Sila mismo ang eyesore sa lansangan. Then create a new system with stricter implementations and re-educate all drivers on proper road decorum.

Not just the drivers man, pati mga mismong enforcers na yan.

Aside from this, I think MMDA traffic officers should also look intimidating. No skinny, short applicants please. Applicants must be at least 5'10 tall, 180 lbs, minimum. When one visits the USA, the first thing one notices is the size of the cops. Most are over 6 feet tall, over 200 lbs of muscle. They all look very young, with short cropped hair. Their mere presence is intimidating. And an intimidating law enforcer commands respect.

Who's going to respect a 5'4 inch law enforcer, who weighs 130 lbs? There's nothing like a big bad looking traffic enforcer who looks prepared to kick ass.
