  1. Having Rick Rubin produce the next Metallica album would be rendered useless if Metallica themselves would be recording sub-standard material. Nonetheless, I'm still hopeful for the next Metallica album. I consider St. Anger a transitional album since it had energy that was lacking from Load and Reload. Bring back the guitar solos for chrissakes!

  2. ahihi. k*ll me if you must pero meron ako compilation cd na lagi ko baon with my discman. track 3 is heart works, track 4 is raining blood, track 5 is stop (spice girls). ayoko na enlist d2 lahat ng laman kase bka habulin nyo na ko ng itak. T_T

Discman? How backward! :P At marami pa akong planong i-upload. Damn, by the time I'm done, I'll have all the essential titles in my cd collection on the palm of my hands/in my pocket! :thumbsupsmiley:

  3. Probably one of the most depressing songs ever, don't listen to this one if you're dealing with failure as this song might do you in and may end up as the soundtrack while you slit your wrists or put a a gun to your mouth. I give you, an Alice In Chains classic:

    DOWN IN A HOLE

Bury Me Softly in this Womb

I Give This part of me for you

Sand rains down and here I sit

Holding rare flowers in a tomb...in bloom

Down in a hole and I don't know if I can be saved

See my heart I decorate it Like a Grave

    You don't understand who they

thought i was supposed to be

Look at me now a man who won't let himself be

Down in a hole, losin my soul

Down in a hole, losing control

I'd like to fly, but my wings have been so denied

Down in a hole and they've put all

    the stones in their place

I've eaten the sun so my tongue

has been burned of the taste

I have been guilty of kicking myself in the teeth

I will speak no more of my feelings beneath

Oh I want to be inside of you

Down in a hole, losin my soul

Down in a hole, losing control

I'd like to fly, but my wings have been so denied

    I'd like to fly,

but my wings have been so denied

  4. Fastest drummer in metal ang pinaguusapan pero karamihan ng nabanggit dito (with the exception of Flo Mournier and the drummer from Nile) ni hindi naman nagba-blastbeat so paano sila naging 'fastest'? Yung iba nga di naman metal (Dave Grohl?).

    Heto ang talagang speed demons:

    Pete 'Commando' Sandoval (Morbid Angel)

    Hellhammer (Mayhem)

Nick Barker (exCradle of Flith/ex-Dimmu Borgir)

    Alex Marquez (Malevolent Creation)

  5. Immortal:  Dre, was able to listen to some stuff from Opeth.. most specifically the Deliverance album.. I am now planning to buy all of their albums.. Thanks, man..

ah oo, di ko pala nabanggit na on average mga 8 minutes ang mga kanta nila. dun sa morningrise album nila, may song sila na 20 minutes!!! magaling talaga ang opeth. after they lull you into a dream-like trance with their mellow acoustic guitars - BAM! pasok ang mabigat na riffs at death growls. patay na patay ako sa bandang yan mga 3-4 years ago. medjo nagsawa na ako sa kanila pero it's good to listen to them once in awhile.

no prob, revi! it's my pleasure to recommend great music to others.

Wala pang LRT2 noon!

Revi: Heto recommendations ko sa Opeth (at rating on a scale of 10), bilhin mo lahat pero mag-umpisa sa first album nila.

    1) Orchid (1994) - 10/10

    2) Morningrise (1996) - 10/10

    3) My Arms, Your Hearse (1998) - 8/10

    4) Still Life (1999) - 8/10

    5) Blackwater Park (2001) - 9/10

    6) Deliverance (2003) - 9/10

    7) Damnation (2003) - 9/10

    8) Lamentations (DVD) (2004) - 8/10

    9) Ghost Reveries (2005) - 7/10

Ayos yun.

  8. Naaalala ko tuloy nung elementary ako, may daladalang walkman at sang katerbang tapes....

tapos kukumpiskahin ng teacher... :grr: hindi pa binalik yung justice for all na tape ko pati yung vulagar display of power... :grr:

He he, walkman, discman, cassettes, cds.

  9. @Revi:

Pare, astig ang Nile. They're an American death metal band whose music is heavily influenced by ancient Egyptian themes. I have two of their albums, "Black Seeds of Vengeance" and "In Their Darkened Shrines" and both are excellent. Their music is characterized by hyperspeed blastbeat drums which are complemented by equally fast, heavy-handed riffing and are further accentuated by the searing solos of their main songwriter Karl Sanders. When I was playing one of my Nile cds at the office, nagulat yung ka-office ko when she noticed that the music shifted from undiscernable (to her) death metal from one track to music that seemed to be background music from The Ten Commandments on the next track. Nile's new album, "Annihilation of the Wicked" has less Egyptian elements in the music but still retains it in their lyrical themes.

GNR ba? Jan din ako nag-start. Pareho pala tayo ng generation, Revi e. Lamang ka lang ng 2 years but we basically listened to the same bands growing up. Dehins ko nga lang pinakinggan yung Godsmack and Drowning Pool kasi sa underground metal pinapakinggan ko from 2000 and onwards.

np: Hey Man Nice Shot - FILTER

  10. Thanks for the blow by blow coverage, guys! Now, I'm just going to relish every round of ABS-CBN/Solar's "live" coverage.

Mabuhay ka Manny! Mabuhay ang bayang Pilipino!!!!

  11. tell me im kinda oldie or old school but im still stuck appreciating the black album of metallica as of now.....

Old school? Black album ng Metallica? Have you even heard of their four albums prior to this one?

This is exactly what I was referring to about people who discovered Metallica with the Black album during their high school days and then considered themselves metalheads. Most of these posers haven't heard k*ll 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and And Justic For All and aren't aware that Metallica was an even better band than the one they heard on the Black album. If they did listen to those albums, they find it too heavy, too fast, too noisy, "magulo" for their tastes and just content themselves with the safe and easy-to-listen Black album. Worse, these posers hardy listen to any other heavy metal band. They find Slayer too satanic. Iron Maiden was just some '80s hair metal band to them. They only listen to Metallica, specifically the Black album, and they consider themselves metalheads. Sheesh! It's the new millenium. Stop posing, posers! :thumbsdownsmiley:

Sphishoxx: Thanks for posting those lyrics and proving a good point. However, I'd like to point out that that song is not an original Metallica song. It's actually a medley of five Mercyful Fate songs - "Satan's Fall", "Curse of the Pharoahs", "Into the Coven", "A Corpse Without a Soul" and "Evil". It just goes to show that Metallica didn't have overt demonic lyrics in their own songs but were influenced by bands that were 'satanic'.

  12. Metallica, Metallica, Metallica, Metallica, Metallica, and Metallica

... only metal band na naiintindihan ko pa kahit papano yung lyrics ... di ko kasi masydo trip yung death, satanic, and none-sense profanity. IMO lang, no flame please, thanks.

Asus! Ang babaw! :thumbsdownsmiley:

  13. I was a bit confused on what thread to post this, on the metalhead thread or the punks not dead thread. I just decided to post on both. Anyway, I just found out that the locally released Victory records cds that Universal released are on sale and can be owned for 100 bucks!

I just came from Glorietta and bought myself cds from Earth Crisis, Strife and Darkest Hour (probably the most metal among the three). Babalikan ko pa yung iba including the Victory records compilations which has great tracks from Cause For Alarm, Integrity etc.

  14. Sa dalawa, mas gusto ko ang Wolfgang. Mas malalim kasi sila tsaka mas metal-ish sila.

Manuel Legarda of Wolfgang has a new band called DRT (pronouned as Dirt) and they performed in MYX's Bandarito sometime back. The band's singer is Jay Ortega whom you may remember as the signer of Gnash back in the '90s.

  15. ok thanks...btw,if they arent,on what level of music are they be considered?

I'm pretty sure they aren't metal. They were part of the "nu-metal" movement that the mainstream music industry tried to pass off to people as metal. But if you've heard real metal you'd know that those bands aren't playing metal music.

Here's a short list of metal bands you should check out:

    ARCH ENEMY

    SHADOWS FALL

    IN FLAMES

    OPETH

    LACUNA COIL

    NIGHTWISH

That's what I would consider 'entry-level' metal na madali masakyan ng mga taong gustong sumubok sa metal. If you want heavier stuff just tell me.
