  1. Aba ayos ito ah!!!

Original ba yung mga records nila? Saan malapit yan?

Basta from the Sucat tollway, turn right, go straight and make a left dun sa stop light adjacent to Mcdonalds. Go straight and lampas ka lang ng kaunti pag nakita mo yung Ministop and Miggys Tacos. It's on the left side, you won't miss it 'coz may malaki naman silang signboard e.

Cd prices vary. Kung cdrs, 370php siya. Kung original, 750 to 1100 php. Yung mga vhs, 400. Original dvds go for 1100 to 1600 php.

Sya nga pala, to my fellow rockers and metalheads here's a bit of good news. We all know that most rare rock and metal cds are hard to come by in our shores simply because the local labels do not distribute them here and music stores would not carry those rare titles as well. Well there's a place that we can all go to to get our hard rockin' and headbangin' fix. There's a store in Sucat called METAL DISC which carries hard to find metal and hard rock titles which are not available in your ordinary record bar racks. I was there yesterday and I felt like a kid in a candy store with the abundance of titles the place has. They also sell t-shirts, posters, dvds, vcds, vhs tapes, stickers. I know it's a bit far for the people who don't live in the south but it's certainly worth the long trip. But I suggest you already set aside some money when you go there para hindi naman sayang oras mo sa pag window shopping at may mauwi ka na mapapakinggan.

    Their location is:

    17 President Avenue, Tahanan Village

    Parañaque City

now playing: "Reroute to Remain" - IN FLAMES

  3. Tagal ko na ding nakadalaw dito ah. Immortal666: Why don't you play cover tunes of Sonata Arctica? Narinig mo na ba yung banat nila ng Wind Beneath My Wings? Ang lupit. :)

We were actually seriously thinking of inlcuding that song for the show. Unfortuntately we could not secure a copy for the upcoming episode. We've already completed the playlist for the all-covers episode, next step is arranging them in sequence.

By the way metalheads, I discovered this cool shop fully devoted to our heavy metal cravings. It's called METAL DISC and they sell metal cds, dvds, vhs tapes, t-shirts, stickers. I was there yesterday with my Metal Madness collaborators (Mr. SLH and Dylan) as we were trying out and selecting the songs we were going to use for the upcoming episdoe. It was my first time there and nalula ako sa dami ng metal cds na nakita ko. I felt like a kid in a candy store! All metal sub-genres are represented there: power metal, death metal, black metal, thrash metal, progressive metal. It's way out south in Sucat but it's worth the trip. Anyway, here's their contact information:

  4. Immortal666 at dj_flip03 you guys are right, MTV has spawned those corporate bands that I need not mention. Iisa lang naman porma nila black shirt most common of is the shirt with the word "zero" printed on it.

I've seen that before a decade ago.

I dread the day when there would be jolog-ish teens hanging out at the mall wearing Immortal, Hammerfall and Opeth t-shirts! I hope that day never comes!

  5. Well, I still listen to ROCK/METAL music. I just hate those "studio punk bands" thats been popping out of nowhere. And sadly, NU107 used to hate these bands, pero ut seems they succumbed to the demands of maintream/pop. Ang pinapakinggan ko na lang ngayon ay yung mga bandang kinagisnan ko na since high-school (the so called grunge/alternative scene) that are still around. And still got my sources in the underground rock/metal scene. I just despise "corporate rock". Shame on those bands like "simple plan", "good charlotte", and the likes.

After rap metal, the next thing I hate are those annoying "corporate pop-punk" bands. If I were a punk I wouldn't want to be associated with those bands. The record labels have discovered the formula for punk rock, the way to market it and be able to make it accessible to the mainstream market, specifically to the MTV crowd. The result of which is manifested through Simple Plan, Good Charlotte and the various other mainstream, MTV-punk bands.

That's why I stick to metal, REAL METAL. I'm on an IRON MAIDEN trip lately. I've been spinning POWERSLAVE, KILLERS, SOMEWHERE IN TIME and PIECE OF MIND a lot. They're the best metal band ever! UP THE IRONS!!!

  6. Whoa! I started this thread weeks ago and got a modicum response. Since then I've been hanging out in the Rockers chapters thread in MTC, totally forgetting the thread I started. Now I find out, MADAMI RIN PALANG METAL MANIACS DITO SA MTC!!!! Yeah, METAL RULES!!!!

To Inosente Ako, I used to sing in two bands back in the day but it was nothing serious.

To Ungas123, the glory days of metal has not ended! Admittedly, it's not as huge as it was back in the '80s to early '90s. But there are a whole lot of new generation metal bands who are keeping the fire of metal alive and burning. You only have to discover them!

To DJ_Flip, I hope you give metal one more chance and listen to it again. I've read your posts in the Call center chapter thread. I've been lurking there 'coz I'm a Call Center dude too!

To all metalheads, tune in to NU 107 on April 30, 10pm -12 midnight (sometimes over) as METAL MADNESS: Under the Influence hits the airwaves. We'll be playing cover songs from your favorite metal bands. Expect to hear tracks from Destruction, Exhorder, Flotsam and Jetsam, Napalm Death, Krisiun, classic Metallica, Slayer and lots more.

Long live METAL!!! Long live MTC METAL MANIACS!!! (the tag serves two purposes, don't you think? he, he, he)

  7. Oo, nilabas nila ulit. Di ko lang alm kung nandun yun. Ipon muna ako. Una kung bibilhin yung Number of the Beast. :)

So are you telling me that you're not sure if Tower re-stocked the Maiden enhanced cds? I went there last week and all they had was Dance of Death which I already had. As for other metal releases, I saw none. Tower's selection was the same as the last time I saw it several months ago. I got "Piece of Mind" and "Somewhere in Time" a couple of weeks back and I'm expecting to get "Killers" next week. Kung ano pa yung pinaka-favorite ko which is "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" ay yun pa ang wala ako. I might be forced to order it from amazon na lang.

  8. Yup, that's the one I've got. I got it for 650. Mga 3 copies pa natitira dun. Madami din old school metal dun. I'm planning to collect the Iron Maiden enhanced CD's off all their albums. :)

Nilabas uli nila? M :boo: ay nakita ka bang copy ng 7th son of a 7th son?

  9. Di naman siya underground. Di lang sikat yung mga ganyang banda dito sa Pilipinas kasi most radio stations are plating the nu metal stuff. :)

I strongly agree! If you go to Europe, Australia, Japan and to a lesser extent, USA and Canada, kilala naman ang mga bands na 'to.

  10. Mahal yung CD. Paid 800 for it but it's worth it naman. The last one I ordered was Cinderella's gratest hits album. Mga 5 weeks bago ko nakuha.

I went to Tower ulit yesterday. Nabili ko yung Art of Balance ng Shadows Fall. :)

Ok na yung price ng Opeth. Halos ganun din ang price if you get it online.

Kelan mo nabili yung Shadows Fall? Magkano score mo? Did you get the version na naka-slip case at may kasamang bonus enhanced cd? Ganun kasi yung akin e. Dapat ata bumisita ako sa Tower a. Nagtitipid kasi ako lately kasi sunod sunod yung online orders ko. Ano pa metal titles ang nakit amo?

Don't miss the next Metal Madness, the last Friday of April next month. I'll be a regular fixture there already.

    Rock on, dude!

  11. I bought it in the Makati branch, last copy yun. Tiyempuhan lang talaga dun. I visit that branch every 2 weeks. They also take special orders if you talk to their staff there. Yun nga lang minsan pag bumili ka ng metal CD's dun & yung nasa cashier ay hip-hop he'll just give you a weird look in his face.

I'm quite surprised that Tower would stock Opeth. I haven't been to the Makati branch in a loooong time. Pero ok lang, I've had my copy of Blackwater since 2002 pa naman. Good choice in picking it up  How much did you get the cd for?

Assured naman ba na dadating if you place a special order? How much naman ang cost and how long will it take to arrive?

You're right, tsambahan.

  12. Minsan makakatiyempo ka rin ng metal dun. The last one a bought there is Opeth's Blackwater Park.

Which shop are you talking about, Tower? Are you telling me Tower sold Opeth's "Blackwater Park" here? Tower dito sa Pilipinas? Parang di ako makapaniwala na they would stock this. Which branch are you referring to, Alabang, Makati or Megamall?

So, did anyone check out the show at NU last night? We had a blast!!!

  13. Mukhang okay magpa burn ng cd's from you ah.

Halos di ko matapos pakinggan habang nagda-drive, maski traffic!

Makinig kayo mamya, mukhang masaya 'to! :D

    METAL RULES!!!

    \m/

  14. Fellow rockers and metalheads, tune in to NU 107 this Friday, March 26 at 10pm - 12 midnight. What's happening? It's METAL MADNESS 5: THE OBLITERATION RUN, the fifth installmaent of NU's monthly heavy metal show. This friday, expect to hear new songs from Cannibal Corpse, Exodus, Machine Head, classic tracks from Motorhead, Iron Maiden, and many more. I'll be somewhat co-hosting the show. I'd like to hear what you guys think of the show. Don't miss it!

  15. 'dre...ok naman concert ng incubus...i have evolved and now i appreciate yung fusion ng hiphop, funk, saka metal...

m a die-hard grunge metal dude though, LONG LIVE KURT COBAIN...astig pagkamatay mo!!! da best!

To each his own I guess. Ok naman Incubus sa akin. I like a couple or so of their songs. But it's too tame and soft for me.

Ako naman, I've gone full circle. From starting with new wave then metal tapos alternative, grunge, punk rock, hardcore, goth, industrial, electronica and a bit of rap rock, I'm back to listening to METAL. But not just the metal I enjoyed as a kid, pati yung mga newer generation of bands. Especially those not being played by MTV and radio. METAL RULES! \m/

Has anyone heard PROBOT? The metal project of Dave Grohl?

  16. I have albums of the bands you mentioned pero I'm more of a power metal, traditional heavy metal kind of guy. Metal CD's ko ngayon are almost a thousand na. I mostly buy my stuff in Tower & in Recto. :)

Sayang di ako nakapanood ng Incubus concert. Swerte ng nakapanood sa inyo. Madami daw chicks dun. :)

Ah, almost thousand na ba? Ako lampas na. Matagal na rin ako nagko-collect e. I mostly order my cds online. The selection in Tower and Music One sucks.

    Joke joke joke!

  17. mga tsong, meron bang old school death metal fans dito?

Hails! \m/ Death metal fan here! Pero that's just one type of metal I listen to. I'm also into black metal (Darkthrone, Immortal) , thrash (Kreator, the Crown), a little power metal (Helloween, Hammerfall), traditional heavy metal (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest). So what bands are you into? Are you into trading and selling metal cds (original)?

  18. I'm in to AC/DC

    also some forms of metal

does ac dc count? or is that just hard rock?

i saw some newer forms of metal. is it iron metal. or base metal i'm not sure

also i like when some normal songs are done in a metal form

AC/DC is just hard rock although they were regarded as metal back in the day. THey're too bluesy to be metal though. They're one of my favorites too. Are you collecting the re-released AC/DC catalogue in digipak form?

Where'd you you dig up 'iron metal' though? It's kinda redundant and silly sounding.

I used to be in industrial metal: NIN, Ministry, Skinny Puppy etc. But I'm more into death/black/thrash metal nowadays. There's a whole world of metal bands waiting to be discovered out there. Start exploring!

  19. What I mean by metalheads is that you listen to heavy metal music and its various permutations (traditional, black, death, thrash, speed, power, stoner, industrial, goth, grind). Nu-metal (or mallcore. i.e. Korn, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park) is not included since it's not really metal, just whiny, lame rock. I'm referring to real, proud and loud, bonafide metal bands such as: IRON MAIDEN, BLACK SABBATH, MEGADETH, SLAYER, TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX, old-METALLICA, old-SEPULTURA, PANTERA, IN FLAMES, CARCASS, NAPALM DEATH, EMPEROR, DARKTHRONE, IMMORTAL, AT THE GATES, KREATOR, MORBID ANGEL, DEATH, DEICIDE and many others.

    So are there any here?
