  1. hi guyz!!

am currently outside of the country and obviously missed las night's NU107 Rock Awards.  share naman po ng mga winners.  i heard reg rubio and ian tayao jammed with slapshock sans jamir garcia!? any news/announcement weather the awards night would be made vailable in VCD/DVD?  Salamat po!!!!

Not to blow your bubble or anything. But who the hell cares if those kupaw kids jammed onstage? This is a METAL THREAD and those local rap rock clowns have no place here. Post your question in the Slipknot thread where those jokers belong.

    now playing: WATCHTOWER - Meltdown

Black Sabbath ........  kahit ano basta black sabbath ....

Black Sabbath will always be the fathers of heavy metal and I have loads of respect for them. But I think most of the metalheads who've been posting on this thread are already past their Sabbath stage and have gone on to more 'advanced' bands. This is not simply heavy metal we're talking about here. There's a variety of metal sub-genres out there such as thrash, death, black, doom, power, speed, prog, etc. Thus, there are hundreds of newer, fresher and more relevant bands to 'advanced' metalheads. Black Sabbath are legends, yes. But they're simply 'entry-level' metal for an advanced listener such as me.

  5. Bwahahahahah!!! That's your opinion... but I dont think that SKYCHURCH is a KUPAW band and that there is such a thing as KUPAW. SKYCHURCH has been around for quite sometime now, I have been following them eversince their Club Dredd days as ELECTRIC SKYCHURCH, wala pang kupaw nung mga panahon na iyon... Everything, and I mean everything, deviates from ROCK AND ROLL, whether it be Heavy Metal, New Metal or Death Metal, it all comes from ROCK AND ROLL!!! Its something like this:  If Rock and Roll Gods AC/DC  is not a rock band, I dont know what a heavy metal band is... Regarding the event at Caliente, I dont think its a good idea... alam naman natin na sa Amoranto ang punta ng tao, unless each and every heavy metal bands here in the Philippines will perform there... baka manood pa yung mga yun ng concert ng Slipknot.

Oo nga pala, Mad Tyrant, when will you feature IRON MAIDEN in Metal Madness? Have you already featured them? Please let me know...

FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK, I SALUTE YOU!!!

IRON MAIDEN? We've played some of their songs in past episodes. But we're thinking of giving them the same royal treatment we gave JUDAS PRIEST. We're planning to have one show na puro Maiden classics and papatugtigin namin. Pero next year na siguro yun. We're still preparing for the anniversary episode later this month.

  6. uhmmm...metalheads?

i just want to ask kung may ngbebenta d2 ng 1st album ng judas priest?

    dahongpalay, tamethetikbalang...?

If anyone in this thread had the first Priest cd, I don't think they'd part with it. I know I won't. ;) If you have a credit card, go to amazon.com. Meron sigurado dun.

Dahong Palay and Tame The Tikbalang didn't release any albums so wag ka na umasa. They appeared in several compilation albums though with other local underground bands so just scrounge around for that. And btw, Tame The Tikbalang is not metal.

    playlist:

    KREATOR - Coma of Souls

IRON MAIDEN - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

    VELVET REVOLVER - Contraband

    CARCASS - Symphonies of Sickness

DYING FETUS - Stop at Nothing

  7. Bwahahahahaha!!! Nice one Mad Tyrant!!! But I think its good for everyone who loves heavy metal, imagine before the year ends may apat na rock acts na ang tumugtog dito, hindi pa nangyayari yan sa Pilipinas. By the way, I dont dig SLIPKNOT's music or any other New Metal acts, but as long as it will quench our thirst for Rock and Roll, or heavy metal for this matter, I would gladly watch it.

Oo nga pala, nakausap ko si Vernon Go (of Pulp Magazine) sa Muziklaban, and I learned that the concert is produced by PULP, the ticket would cost only P550 all the way, there will be a special section near the stage that are for people who will pay premium, that is I think P1500, to avoid the mayhem. Sabi nya, you can buy tickets at the Pulp office (P570 yata if you gonna get it at Ticketnet). Ayos na rin ito, lets just pray that they will entice other rock acts to perform here…

And before I forget, Nice show you have there at NU!!! Always looking forward to tune in to your show!!!

FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK, I SALUTE YOU!!!

Hey, thanks for tuning in and listening to Metal Madness! It was surely a blast to crank out those classic Judas Priest tunes. We're planning on some big stings come our anniversary episode next month!

Slipknot? I'd rather pass maski mura lang ticket diyan. Hindi porke't foreign artist yan at minsan lang pumunta dito ay dapat na nating panoorin to quench our thirst for metal. In the first place, hindi naman metal ang Slipknot e.

If you want to satisfy your hunger for metal, punta ka na lang sa Caliente sa November 13, yes the same night as the Shitsknot concert! Ironworks productions is going to organize another GODS OF METAL gig which promises to have the strongest lineup ever.

  8. thanks...dude

maybe you could list down bands na pwede mo i-recommend... :)

    Hmm....

NILE, MORBID ANGEL, CARCASS, AT THE GATES, OPETH, IN FLAMES (yung luma), DARK TRANQUILITY, IMMORTAL, EMPEROR, DIMMU BORGIR, BORKNAGAR, DRAGONFORCE, JAG PANZER, ICED EARTH, FEAR FACTORY, THE HAUNTED, ARCH ENEMY, SHADOWSFALL, DEICIDE, CRADLE OF FILTH.

    Cge, jan ka muna mag-umpisa.

  9. well..siguro mga 2 or 3 songs lang ang gusto ko from slipknot....i wouldn't call them a metal band...kasi part na sila nung new skool....mas gusto ko pa rin syempre yung old skool...narinig mo na ba yung 101 proof ng pantera...ASTEEEEG.... ...PANTERA RULES!!!!....

what's your view on Danzig?...narinig ko na sila before when i was in highschool...kaso yung narinig ko puro chants eh...or sira lang yung cassette...gloomy...natakot ako  ....pero nung isang araw DL ako ng isang track 777....ok naman

Danzig? Okay ang unang tatlong albums nila sa akin (Danzig, Lucifuge, How The Gods k*ll).

    Dirty Black Summer

    Mother

    Snakes of Christ

    Her Black Wings

    Pain in the World

    Do You Wear The Mark?

    Sistinas

    It's Coming Down

  10. stone roses are way too COOL!!!

Sorry dude, you're off topic. As much as the Stone Roses are a great band playing great music, they're not metal. They're more indie rock. Just because a band has guitars, doesn't mean they play metal you know.

  11. bakit naman...?...pero some songs na ginawa ng slipknot...parang paulit ulit ung beat...rhythm...parang scrapshock...nakakasawa...ayaw nila mag experiment...what a waste of talent :( :D

In addition to that, they're trying hard to be metal and they suck!

  12. UNDYING SYMPHONIES

    featuring:

Sea of Rains, Archaic Argot, 9th Circle Prophecy, Funeral Frost, The Late Isabel, Skies of Ember, Names are For Tombstones

    Sept 25, 8pm

    150php entrance (w/ 100php consumable or 3 colt ice/colt45)

  13. ei immortal666...dude...are you mr.sla?...jimmy?...or do you know him?...since you know alot of things from NU 107...i thought perhaps...you're him...coz you talk like him...i guess..hehe  ROCK ON!!!

Nah, I'm not SLH/Jimmy. I'm MAD TYRANT on the show. Talk like Jimmy? Hinde a. How would you know? Is it the way I write here? Malayo pa rin.

    playlist:

    KING DIAMOND - Fatal Portrait

GENETIC ERROR - In Search of Power

    PANTERA - Metal Magic

    CATHEDRAL - The Ethereal Mirror

BRUCE DICKINSON - The Chemical Wedding

  14. do the metal bands listed in this thread get play time on the airwaves? what radio station, if i may ask? it will give me a chance to at least listen to them.

Catch METAL MADNESS on NU 107 every last Friday of the month, 10pm-12 midnight.

This month's episode is called METALLOGY REDEFINED, where we'll feature the music of JUDAS PRIEST.

We usually feature a variety of metal bands, old and new. Except for this month though where the show will predominantly be filled with Priest classics. We'll play some non-Priest tracks from BLACK SABBATH (w/DIO on vox), MOTORHEAD, BRUCE DICKINSON and IRON MAIDEN (w/Paul Di'Anno on vox).

Catch it, this 24th of September.

  15. from what i've read on this thread...black sabbath is the only band that brings back memories. how about other bands like led zepplin and deep purple? i used to listen to these bands also when i was still a kid. would they be considered as metal bands? :)

Led Zep and Deep Purple are bands that are very influential to metal bands, and when I started out listening to metal, they were considered metal bands. However, as the years went along and as metal got heavier, the influence and impact of these bands to the metal scene diminished. I think moreso for Led Zep than Deep Purple. Led Zep nowadays is considered only hard rock and if you listen really well, a lot of today's metal bands owe more of an influence from Sabbath and Purple than Led Zep. This is not to downplay Led Zeppelin, they're a great band but they're just not metal.

Among the post-Pantera bands, I prefer Superjoint Ritual over Damageplan. Superjoint plays metal mixed with old-school hardcore (think Black Flag) but they don't sound anything like the slew of metalcore bands that are around these days. Damageplan to me sounds like Pantera without Anselmo, but with an inferior singer.

Ang weird nga ng Damageplan e, they got a guitarist (Pat Lachman, from Halford) to become their singer. But I guess everyone will agree with me here when I say that all their present musical projects are inferior to Pantera.

  17. pwede makisali? pwede ba old skul punk rock

    i like

    ramones

    clash

    dead kennedys

    sex pistols

    sham69

    velvet underground

    circle jerks

    stiff little fingers

    sa pinoy

    urban bandits

    ethnic faces

    betrayed

    g.i. & the idiots

    philippine violators

    chaos

No offense meant dude, but this is a metal thread. Our topics deal with metal and its various sub-genres. I have nothing against old-school punk rock and I even like some of the bands that you mentioned (both foreign and local). But it would be off topic to discuss punk rock, which is a separate genre altogether, in a metal thread. Why not start an old-school punk rock thread and let's bash the mainstream pop punk acts that have been desecrating punk rock's good name? ;)

  18. Lagi namang sinasabi na rock is making a comeback pero it's always here naman & it never leaves us. :)

That's true. Rock never left or never really died. It's just that people, or the mainstream for that matter, stopped listening to rock.
