Back To The 70's

Recommended Posts

OMG! El Cid... all time favorite! love that movie.. I have yet to see Ben Hur - but I do know it was one of the most expensive movies ever to be made at that time or even up to this time...

Brings back memories of good times. :thumbsupsmiley:

The most memorable Ben-Hur scene for me (sorry pero OT na 'to dahil this movie was from the '50s) was the chariot race scene between Charlton Heston and Stephen Boyd. The action (the stunts and the race itself) was so brilliantly filmed.

The 70s was also memorable for the "disaster" films that came out such as "The Towering Inferno", the "Airport" movies, and the "The Poseidon Adventure", to name a few. I remember seeing "The Towering Inferno" with my folks at the Quezon Theater in Cubao.

I remember TOWERING INFERNO.

The last scene(s) left an indelible mark (I actually cried) - yung nagtali yung dalawang bida (na parang na-in love doon) kasi bubuhos na iyong malakas na tubig at baka hindi na sila magkita / mabuhay after. I was not yet even a tweener then but i was moved by that scene.

If i remember right, Faye Dunaway was part of the cast.

I also like the OST "Morning After" sang by Maureen McGovern (yata) or is it Helen Reddy ????

For me, it was Typhoon Didang back in 1976. Sobrang tindi na one week kaming walang pasok!

correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the typhoon's name was Dading :)

Gary Bautista died as he was performing onstage with the SOS and Lani Misalucha. Sabi pa nga hawak pa daw nya yung mike kahit bumagsak na siya sa floor...

....and who would ever miss the Western movies of CLINT EASTWOOD:

1. High Plains Drifter ;)

2. The Outlaw Josie Wales

... and also his "Dirty Harry" movies such as Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, and The Enforcer. :thumbsupsmiley:

Aside from these three, there were 2 other "Dirty Harry" movies but they came out in the 80s: Sudden Impact (with the famous line "Go ahead... make my day.") and The Dead Pool.

Hello pareng Bods!

Well Dading was in the 60s maybe 1964 or 65. Kwento lang sa akin kasi it's being compared to Yoling.

Gusto kong bumalik sa plaka pero wala naman akong plaka. :( :D

Grabeng mamahal ng mga turntables ngayon.

To all,

Please drop by the OBRA MAESTRA interior design exhibit at the 3rd floor of Greenbelt 1 (sa itaas ng mga sinehan). There's a booth there where some old LPs (Donna Summer, Ray Connif, etc.) are incorporated in the design. :thumbsupsmiley:

You'll find some of my sculptures featured in some of the booths, too. :hypocritesmiley:

Since North Korea is all over the news, was it in the 70s when the national teams of No. Korea and the Phils. squared off in the basketball court at the Rizal Memorial (or was it Araneta?). I remember the Nokor team then played rough vs. our finest players led by Jawo.

Oo nga, I remember that game na nakadapa sa Jawo in front of the North Korean bench tapos may sumipa sa kanya, biglang nagka awatan. Now, North Korean owns the tallest basketball player sa Asia....standing 7'7"
