storm
Ssssshhh, huwag ka ingay. Hindi na ito sosyalan kund kaartehan naman. I met the curator of UP Vargas Museum and the other one is a Visual Communication professor. They're both batch 79. Yup score nga iyon. There's another meaning of "score" and you should know what I mean. KP 500 din yung stereo ng car ko noon with matching Co-axial speakers and tweeters and proline equalizer. starbuck911
Remember the morbid and gross rumor about Pilar Pilapil? Hello augustmoon, I can't elaborate for obvious reasons, but is this the one that involved "raw meat"? Quote Link to comment

A lot of KP-500's were sold and installed at Roger's Roadstar stall at Autocycle. Mayroon pang mga EQ's with "reverb" pa. When you installed a Tri-axial in the rear, ok ka na (or so we thought back then)! Quote Link to comment

starbuck911
The most memorable movie of our high school days was Gone in 60 Seconds. Almost the whole batch watched that movie at the same time at Cinema 21 in Cubao. Cinema 21 was famous for its reclining seats. Memorable cult film "for the boys" from '74. The following year, it was "Death Race 2000". Uso ang mga films with car chases after French Connection scored big in '71. The trend wore itself out towards the end of the decade. Other films of that kind I can recall are the Seven-Ups (w/ Roy Scheider), Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry & Race with the Devil (both with Peter Fonda). Marami pa diyan, including films with Bronson or Eastwood. Quote Link to comment

My 2 favorite car chase scenes are from Bullitt (1968, starred Steve McQueen) and The Seven-ups (1973) with Roy Scheider. The Seven-ups car chase scene through the streets of Manhattan was great. I never tire of watching it whenever the movie is shown on cable. I read somewhere that Roy Scheider did not use a double for these scenes. I believe it was inspired by the car chase scene in Bullitt where the chases were filmed in San Francisco. Such scenes from both movies are truly classics! :thumbsupsmiley: Edited July 19, 2006 by willow_boy Quote Link to comment

willow_boy
street of san francisco (m. douglas & karl malden) kojak (telly savalas) eight is enough little house on the prairie (michael london) bionic man (lee majors) bionic woman (lindsay wagner) beretta (robert blake) thunderbirds - animated series the wild wild west (robert conrad) Thunderbirds was a marionette series imported from England. The original series actually ran from 1965 to 1966. I do recall seeing reruns on tv in the late 60s (oops!)/early 70s. Same with The Wild, Wild West which ran in the US from 1965 to 1969. Sa 'Pinas, it was regularly shown on TV in the early to mid 70s. Sadly, Ross Martin, the guy who played Jim West's (Robert Conrad) sidekick, Artemus Gordon, is no longer around. He passed away back in the early 80s, I believe. Another series that was a hit with teenage girls was James at Sixteen that starred Lance Kerwin. A popular show too was the "Night Stalker". Darren McGavin, the show's star, just passed away a year ago. Quote Link to comment

Magnolia still ruled with the popular dairy products, although Selecta (when the Arce's still ran it) kinda maintained cult status where people were willing to drive to Roxas Blvd. to have that good ol' ice cream made from carabao milk. They had expanded into a resto for awhile, but the times caught up with them eventually. Quote Link to comment

They had expanded into a resto for awhile, but the times caught up with them eventually. Selecta was our family's favorite ice cream brand for 2 reasons: their ice cream, mixed with carabao milk, was indeed very good and the other reason was that the Arces were (and still are) very close family friends of ours. I grew up with Selecta ice cream at home (in their trademark metal containers) and we were frequent customers at their old restaurant on Roxas Boulevard. My favorite flavor was the Macapuno. Quote Link to comment
