Just got a copy of "A Clockwork Orange." Di ko masakyan. Sat through 30 mins of the film

and just couldn't get it.

Anyway just viewed two concert films by the Rolling Stones. One is a 2003 SARS Benefit Concert in Toronto and the other the docu film GIMME SHELTER, about their infamous Altamont Concert in 1969. Amazing how the Stones, individually and as a group, has survived all these years. Well physically, they now have leathery faces, but their physiques would put to shame most of us here hehehe....in that same Toronto concert were The Guess Who - ang tataba na nila. Too much beer? hehehe...

Financially, musical-wise and industry-standing wise, the Stones are a marvel. After that infamous Altamont concert (where some black dude was stabbed to death by some members of the Hells Angels who acted as security for the concert), the Stones were magnanimously but unfairly maligned. Sila sinisisi kaya nagkagulo dun sa Altamont. Whoever thought of the bright idea of hiring the Hells Angels for free security in exchange for all the beer those biker dudes can drink. Beer plus bikers plus drugs plus unpredictable concert crowd spells trouble.

But the Stones have managed to plod on - hit after hit after hit after hit - almost 40 years!!! after that infamous gig.

 

BTW, 40 years na pala ang Woodstock and Altamont next year! Where did all those years go? hehehehe

 

Next week pa ang alis namin, September 16. Pwede pa tayong mag-EB. Masyado nang maraming nangyari for the past 40 years. When I'm thinking about the past, grabe, parang kay tanda-tanda ko na.

 

Ang gaganda ng mga lumang Playboy. Mas artistic ang mga kuha and pulos natural boobsies. Panalo :thumbsupsmiley:

in the beginning of the movie remind me of the baseball outfit-clad gang in The Warriors.

But Warriors came out much later (mid-80s) so....

Dropped by Cubao X. Bought some LPs from 70s and beyond. Got 2 OPMs -- Basil Valdez and Celeste Legaspi. Got some Playboy mags circa 70s -- saw nude photos of Marisa Berenson, Linda Evans, Ursula Andres among others.

It's on UR 105.9, 10pm to 12mn Sundays and now hosted by good ole Cousin Hoagy. Was it The Madman who hosted it in the 70s at the old DZRJ? Whatever happened to The Madman? Or is he still alive hehehe

I remember the old Rock and Roll Machine show in the 70s - pinagpupuyatan ko to hanggang 2am because the music they played was great and rare and can never be heard anywhere else, even in RJ's regular daytime and nighttime programming. This was where I first heard Frank Zappa god bless his soul...

Oy pare, kumusta na? Thanks for the info. Will check it out (as the late Howlin' Dave used to say). Have no idea if The Madman is still around. Oh yeah, Frank Zappa was something else. No one seems to be playing that kind of music. Was just listening to God Save the Queen of Sex Pistols a while back and some Led Zep II songs. Let the good times roll!

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE

1950s, 60s, 70s and early 80s !!

First, some of us survived being born to mothers who did not have an OB-Gyne and drank San Miguel Beer while they carried us.

 

While pregnant, they took cold or cough medicine, ate isaw, and didn't worry about hepa.

Then after all that trauma, our baby cribs were made of hard wood covered with lead-based paints, pati na yung walker natin, matigas na kahoy din at wala pang gulong.

We had no soft cushy cribs that play music, no disposable diapers (lampin lang) and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, no kneepads , sometimes wala pang preno yung bisikleta.

As children, we would ride in hot un-airconditioned buses with wooden seats (yung JD bus na pula) or cars with no airconditioning & no seat belts (ngayon lahat may aircon na)

Riding on the back of a carabao on a breezy summer day was considered a treat. (ngayon hindi na nakakakita ng kalabaw ang mga bata)

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle purchased from 711 (minsan straight from the faucet or poso)

We shared one soft drink bottle with four of our friends, and NO ONE actually died from this. Or contracted any disease.

We ate rice with star margarine, drank raw eggs straight from the shell and drank softdrinks with real sugar in it (hindi diet coke or coke zero), but we weren't sick or overweight kasi nga......

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, and get back when the streetlights came on. Sarap mag patintero, tumbang preso, habulan at taguan.

No one was able to reach us all day (di uso ang cellphone, walang beepers). And yes, we were OK.

 

 

We would spend hours building our wooden trolleys (yung bearing ang gulong), or plywood slides out of scraps and then ride down the street, only to find out we forgot the brakes! After hitting the sidewalk or falling into a canal (sewage channel) a few times, we learned to solve the problem ourselves with our bare & dirty hands .

We did not have Playstations, Nintendos,

 

X-boxes, no video games at all, no 100 channels on cable, no DVD movies, no surround stereo, no IPODs, no cellphones, no computers, no Internet, no chat rooms and no Friendsters, Facebooks, or MySpace or virtual friends. ...... ...WE HAD REAL FRIENDS and we went outside to actually talk and play with them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no stupid lawsuits from these accidents. The only rubbing we get is from our friends with the words...masakit ba? pero pag galit yung kalaro mo, ang sasabihin sa iyo..beh buti nga !

 

We played with marbles (jolens) in the dirt, washed our hands just a little and ate dirty ice cream & fish balls. we were not afraid of getting germs into our stomachs.

We had to live with homemade guns, gawa sa kahoy, tinali ng rubberband, sumpit, tirador at kung anu-ano pa na puedeng makasakitan. pero masaya pa rin ang lahat.

 

 

We made up games with sticks ( syatong ), and cans (tumbang preso) and although we were told they were dangerous, wala naman tayong binulag o napatay.paminsan minsan may nabubukulan lang.

We walked, rode bikes, or took tricycles to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them to jump out the window!

Mini basketball teams had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't pass had to learn to deal with the disappointment. Wala yang mga childhood depression at damaged self esteem ek-ek na yan. Ang pikon, talo.

Ang magulang ay nandoon lang para tignan kung ayos lang ang mga bata, hindi para makialam at makipag-away sa ibang parents.

That generation of ours has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, creative thinkers and successful professionals ever! They are the CEOs, Engineers, Doctors and Military Generals of today.

The past 50 years have seen an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had failure, success and responsibility. We learned from our mistakes the hard way.

You might want to share this with others who've had the luck to grow up as real kids. We were lucky indeed.

And if you like, forward it to your kids too, so they will know how brave their parents were.

It kind of makes you wanna go out and climb a tree, doesn't it?!

Hehehe. Hindi ba pwedeng from the pictures na lang and some mejo similar pieces here in my collection? Actually guest lang ako sa show since the gallery owner bought the collection in advance. Gusto ko lang mejo mag-ingay dito.

 

Current yung topic so baka off pero batang 70s naman tayo. This month of September in 1972 niluto ang Martial Law. B-day ni Makoy nung September 11.
