I must admit na sometimes medyo sablay nga si President Duterte ko like in this one. I hope he calls up Obama and apologize because for me his tirades were really uncalled for. America has always been there for us. Gumagastos sila ng sariling pera to help a lot of countries including us. Baka pag si Trump pa nanalo di mag-aaksaya ng pera yun to help other countries lalo na tayo na maliit tingin nya and wala pakinabang.

 

This time I hope my president admits that once again his mouth got the better of him and just simply apologize. It will not make him less of a man if he did so, like what he did on some other issues.

 

Still though, hanga pa rin ako sa president ko in most of his policies including the drug war. A man of principle and conviction.

Among the biggest areas Duterte needs to improve on is foreign diplomacy. Foreign Service Officers and career diplomats spend years of training to learn the ways of diplomacy - to be politically correct in all statements made to their foreign counterparts, and to at the very least not to offend in making statements. The high politics of international relations means very little to the Filipino masses, but it is something that any government cannot take for granted.

 

Anyone heard of the Millenium Challenge Account? It's US foreign aid in developing countries channeled through a corporate vehicle. The Philippines is among the recipient countries and in the last 5 years, the US channeled $434 million dollars in foreign aid to the Philippines through this corporate vehicle alone. This money funded the reconstruction and rehabilitation of 220 kms of road in Samar province, and funded community-driven projects in communities with high poverty incidence. Another 5 year contract is in the works and is projected to be signed in 2017. The US suddenly deciding not to renew the contract and withdraw all foreign aid to the Philippines is only one of the instruments of foreign policy that it can use if the Philippines is undiplomatic. Tighter immigration policies against Filipinos is another.

 

Since we love talking about Yolanda, the US gave a total of $90 million dollars in foreign aid to the Philippines. China gave a total of $15 million, and that's only after it received so much flak for initially giving only $100,000 when all other countries (even as far as Europe) gave so much more. The US under Obama donates ships to the Philippine navy to boost the country's maritime capabilities, ostensibly against China - our neighborhood bully. "US imperialism" is the boogeyman of the communists and the left.

Binasa ko transcript ng sagot, at basically, yun reporter ang minumura nya hindi naman si Obama mismo. Yun reporter sinermonan nya kasi masyadong nagpapaka-lap dog sa mga amerikano.

 

Kung pakikingan ng tama yun gist ng sinabi ni Duterte, tama naman sya. Una sa lahat ang US ay may mahabang history ng pagiging bastos, at pakikialam sa mga bansang mas maliliit sa kanila. Akala nila sila na lang lagi pwede magdikta mga polisiya sa mga sovereign territories. Bukod pa dyan sila pa nga itong hindi pinapansin mga subpoena sa kanila ng UN. Noon di ba galit na galit tayo sa mga presidenteng Tuta ng kano?

 

Human rights ang gusto gawing issue. Pero anak ng patola o mas malala pa nga mga kaso ng police brutality sa US ata. Naalala nyo yun fruitvale station shooting? Yun Rodney King case? At ilang insidente ng pamamaril? Tapos tayo yun kelangan pa maging parang maamong puppy na magpapacute sa kanila?

 

PERO.....

 

Puntusan naman natin ang mga Kritiko dito. Baka sabihin nanaman masyado tayo nagpapakapanatiko.

 

OO nga, yan talaga ever since problema kay Duterte. Talagang masyadong prangka at palaban magsalita. Tama kelangan ng konting refinement, dahil hindi na sya mayor lang ng isang lungsod kundi head of the state na. Tama yun sinasabi pero siguro mali na nagbitaw sya ng p#tang %na nanaman

Isa pa nga nagsabi na sana Prime Minister nila tulad ng presidente natin. Na hindi sunudsunuran na lang sa sasabihin ng mga taga kanluran at ng UN, na sasabihin kung ano dapat kahit ikapahamak nya. Di daw tulad ng typical na pulitiko na hipokrito na nga sinungaling pa.

Yung mga nagsabi sa social media (most probably Facebook) na "buti nga kay Duterte at sa Davao at nabomba sila" are most likely fake accounts being used by social media operators to create a strawman. That way, the resulting rightful anger at such statements would rally support for the administration. Clever. Wala akong kilalang tao in the flesh who has that kind of thinking much less, brave enough or stupid enough to air that opinion for all to see. May kilala ba kayong totoong taong ganyan? On the onset us who voted for him knew that this is one imperfection on his resume. And noon ko pa sinasabi, if he can't be prudent, limit na lang yun statement mo. For sure alam ko hindi nya naman tatawagin ng harapan na son of a bitch si Obama. Sana nga, si Martin Andanar na lang pinasagot nya sa mga reporter, being a former media man, I am sure he would have better handled the situation.
