Atkins or South Beach Diet really works. Problem is... it is too expensive. You don't eat rice so puro ulam ka lang. Basically these diets work by changing the source of your energy from carbs (rice, pasta, bread) to fats and protein (white and read meat). I have tried this before and it works kaso di ko kaya i-maintain. So I tried my new diet.

Check your weight at day 1 (record this).

And then starting at day 1 drink green tea (brewed lipton green tea or chinese green tea (better) everyday (2 cups daily After waking up and then Before going to sleep).

Eat normally but never overeat.

Do not check your weight during Day 2 - Day 29.

and on Day 30 check your weight. Guaranteed you will lose 2-5 pounds.

This diet will of course work better if you combine it with excercise (cardio or weight training).

Im on my 3rd month and already lost 7 pounds (I know its not that much but if you think about it I lost the pounds without excercie or diet :lol: and losing weight slowly is better).

Im planning to do weight training for better muscle definition and trying the new "fit and right" product (heard good reviews for this product).

do you really believe that this "delmonte fit and right" drink really helps in aiding your weight loss? kc for me, i don't because of the very high sugar content of this drink, 29g sugar per can. just my two cents. peace!

 

just a marketing strategy. its our attitude and actions that would help us do what we want with our body.

SATAY(BBQ) LOVERS

 

If you all eat satay, don't ever forget to eat the cucumber, because eating satay together with carbon after barbecuing can cause cancer.

The first ingredient listed (which means it is the single most prevalent ingredient) in Clairol's Herbal Essences is Sodium Laureth Sulfate.

 

Therefore, I called one company, and I told them their product contains a substance that will cause people to have cancer. They said, Yeah we knew about it but there is nothing we can do about it because we need that substance to produce foam.

 

By the way Colgate toothpaste also contains the same substance to produce the "bubbles". They said they are going to send me some information.

 

Research has shown that in the 1980s, the chance of getting cancer is 1 out of 8000 and now, in the 1990s, the chances of getting cancer is 1 out of 3, which is very serious. Therefore, I hope that you will take this seriously and pass this on to all the people you know, and hopefully, we can stop "giving" ourselves cancer-causing agents.

INSTANT NOODLES

 

Dear instant noodle lovers,

 

Make sure you break for at least 3 days after one session of instant noodles before you eat your next packet!

 

Please read the info shared to me by a doctor. My family stopped eating instant noodles more than 5 years ago after hearing about the wax coating the noodles - the wax is not just in the Styrofoam containers but it coats the noodles. This is why the instant noodles do not stick to each other when cooking.

 

If one were to examine the ordinary Chinese yellow noodles in the market, one will notice that, in their uncooked state the noodles are oily. This layer of oil prevents the noodles from sticking together.

 

Wanton noodles in their uncooked state have been dusted with flour to prevent them from sticking together. When the hawker cooks the noodles, notice he cooks them in hot water and then rinses them in cold water before cooking them in hot water again. This process is:

 

Repeated several times before the noodles are ready to be served. The cooking and rinsing process prevents noodles from sticking together.

 

The hawker then "lowers the noodles in oil and sauce to prevent the noodles from sticking if they are to be served dry.

 

Cooking instructions for spaghetti require oil or butter to be added in the water when boiling the spaghetti to prevent the pasta from sticking together. Otherwise, one gets a big clump of spaghetti!

 

There was an SBC (now TCS) actor some years ago, who at a busy time of his career had no time to cook, resorted to eating instant noodles everyday. He got cancer later on. His doctor told him about the wax in instant noodles. The doctor told him that our body will need up to 2 days to clear the wax.

 

There was also an SIA steward who after moving out from his mother's house into his own house, did not cook but ate instant noodles almost every meal. He had cancer, and has since died from it.

 

Nowadays the instant noodles are referred as "cancer noodles".

sugar substitutes like "equal" are cancerous (daw). how true? thus, "splenda" is the preferred product since it's actually composed of real sugar (daw ulit). any idea bout this?

 

sugar substitutes i read are related to diseases involving the nervous system - nerves, even the brain..

if i recall right, there were previous studies with rats that showed undesirable results,

well in short if you want to lose weight, you have to make sure ur REALLY DETERMINED to do so.

 

DIET - less carbs, more protein, less rice, suggestions would be eat regular meal brkfast

then half rice sa lunch then no rice sa dinner

 

- eat more veggies, fish and fiber foodies like banana..

- drink plenty of water

 

EXERCISE - cant do without this, para ma tone ang muscles mo

push ups n crunches am n pm,,, jogging briskwalking 3x/wk

 

be determined

but give urself food breaks, take 2 meals a week na kakainin mo yung gusto mo that way di ka mababaliw sa mga fud that u think ur missin ...

Another myth. Carbs are not the enemy and most people actually get fatter not because of carbs but because of too much protein. Protein is the hardest macro to digest so excess amount fo this turn to fat.

There are better alternatives as to this. Crunches do not atuamatically make your belly shrink. Jogging is also not an effective fat burner. Strength training is far superior

Honestly, I'd rather take in more protein than more carbohydrates. Protein may be hard to digest, especially red meat or poultry. However, there are a lot of good alternatives like fish, eggs, whey and other dairy products.

 

So far, I don't get fat with more protein. I did get fat with more carbo.

 

And banana as a good fiber source??? I don't think it's applicable to all variants.

I'm not in the mood to debate with anyone but the best thing i can say is that people often need to also focus on the kind of carbs they take and not necessarily lower their carb intake.

 

Personally, if i moderate my proteinintake and focus more on veggies and low GI carbs, its easier to lean out, yet never dropping carbs, I just add more fat to slow the absorption of macros

Eating nutritional food after a workout is great. This is because after your workout, your blood vessels are enlarged (from exhaustion) and blood flow is faster than normal. This means food intake after workout, your body will suck up all the nutrients faster and get it in your system quicker.

 

For me, protein shake inom ko immediately after... followed with fruits and vegetables.

cut back on everything you drink. just drink water. nothing but water (about a gallon a day). you can save about 500 empty calories per day by doing this.

 

fruit fasting works. just eat nothing but fruits for a few days (once a week).

 

eat like a caveman. never touch any of that refined white crap, those artificial sweeteners, hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup. eat your food as raw and as unprocessed as possible. eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.

 

just ask yourself, "how bad do you want it?" life is too short to be average.

Good tool in dieting, right attitude..

 

Well I guess for me, if you're really a hardcore eater, don't just think and decide today that tomorrow I'll be eating veggies and no rice and I'll eat steamed fish and chicken breasts. I would drink no iced tea, softdrinks, smoothies and no ice cream or cake for dessert.

 

That would be suicide, and in a few days, you'll realize that you're really punishing yourself and struggling too much and you'll go back in your old habit of crashing.

 

Do dieting in a transition, taking away as little as possible week after week. You could say, next week, "I'll just eat 1 cup of rice instead of 1 and a half" or next week, instead of ordering blizzard from dairy queen, you could order the smaller cone sundae instead. Do that week after week and replace unhealthy food with healthy ones, cut serving size by 20%, do any method that suits you and be creative. By this technique, you wouldn't struggle as much from hunger pangs or guilt food trips. I did this and the transition stage took like 3 months. I am regularly losing weight and what I like best is that I don't struggle. I eat less now but I do it like it's a normal thing.

as one very well informed poster said, it is more of genetic factors rather than environmental. I enjoy food and i enjoy cooking them. somebody will always say that something is carcinogenic but it takes a lot to mutate our cells. enjoy variety and you won't be taking a lot.
