  1. Well, Lanete proved his worth in just concluded game. He played his heart out. Baguio was a non factor. A monster game again by Noel.

  2. Ginebra up by 14 halftime. Lanete three three points. 9 tres made by Ginebra.

  3. Sama naman ng pagkatalo ng Ginebra kagabi, lumamang na sana sila kung naipasok na sana lahat ni Noel ‘yung 3 free throws n’ya (who somehow made up for it with that 3 pts conversation), then, may chance pa sana sila kung naipasok nina Lanete at Tubid ‘yung respective 3-pts attempts nila. Si Artadi dapat ang nasa loob in lieu of Helterbrand na may iniindang injury (instead of Lanete na inconsistent though may iniinda din yata si Artadi), saka pag ganong lamang ang kalaban take it strong inside dahil much higher percentage’ yun. On a side note, nakaka bad trip naman ang PBA at maging ang Araneta Coliseum management, instead of having a game tomorrow and on Sunday sa lunes pa gagawin ang game 5 dahil may event daw na gagawin sa Araneta on the said days (UAAP games yata), dami talagang kaartehan ng PBA!

Ginebra, SMB resume title duel Monday

    07/10/2009

In keeping with its policy that welfare of the fans is of optimum priority, the PBA has decided to extend the championship break of Barangay Ginebra and San Miguel Beer and resume the Finals of the 2009 Motolite PBA Fiesta conference on Monday.

As per schedule, today marks a break in the best-of-seven series between the Kings and the Beermen with the pivotal Game 5 supposedly set for Sunday at the Cuneta Astrodome.

But the unforeseen got in the way, spoiling the thrilling showdown between two of the league’s most popular clubs.

During a routine check in preparation for Sunday’s event, maintenance staff of the Astrodome discovered that four of the venue’s eight air conditioning blowers are down and repair couldn’t be completed in time for Game 5.

"There is a tremendous clamor for tickets for Game 5. And based on our assessment, the air conditioning system won’t hold up to the huge crowd that we are expecting," said PBA commissioner Renauld "Sonny" Barrios. "We always want our fans to watch the games as if they are in the comfort of their homes. Obviously, that’s not possible under the present situation at the Astrodome."

The league would have loved to hold Game 5 at the Araneta Coliseum because it would also be able address the huge demand for tickets but the Big Dome has been booked by the UAAP for Saturday and Sunday.

Holding games on a Monday is not something new for the PBA. Just last April 20, it scheduled a twinbill at the Cuneta Astrodome to kick off the 2009 All-Star Week.

This is the first time though that the league has scheduled a championship game on a Monday.

"There is always a first time for everything. But there will be no substitute to the welfare of our fans," Barrios said.

The series is tied at 2-2 with the defending champion Kings aiming to become the first repeat champs since Red Bull in 2001.

  4. Congrats to both ginebra and smb. They are both playing exceptional basketball. You can see that come crunch time, both team are able to score, even as they are playing good defense. They show so much intensity too. Yung ibang series na napapanood natin makikita natin na di maka score ang both teams on a number of possessions down the stretch. But these teams, magugulat ka na they trade clutch baskets after clutch basket. The only DISAPPOINTING performance i saw is Dorian Pena. He commits stupid fouls. He is not not effective at all.

  5. Hoy din! hahaha...Baka nagospital un iba due to heart attack haha...Kahit ako muntikan na atakihin hahaha...What a game...Nice game by BGK but a WIN is a WIN...

Good to see nagclick si DON DON...

WTF! Binangko ni SIOT si DON DON den pinasok lang nun dying seconds na...Masyado karkar...THAT'S REALLY A BAD DECISION KUNG KELAN MAGANDA LARO NYA SAKA NAMAN CIA BINANGKO....WTF!

    Anyway...Congrats SMB...2-2....BEST OF 3 NA ANG SERIES....GO BEERMEN..!

Puro miss. Pinagpahinga muna. Dami kasing stars sa SMB maski sino naman mag c click given the opportunity.

Well....................................

  7. Malaking bagay yung na injure si Helterbrand. Pulled muscle. Mali diskarte sa last seconds, dapat hindi three point attempts ginawa. Well, walang laro sa Friday and Sunday. Ang susunod, sa Monday na lang. Artadi nakalimutan na naman. Si Tubid nakalimutan na rin.

Yes, maglalaro siya next conference pa pero that depends on their observation and analysis and recommendation of his doctors. Medyo sumasakit pa both his knees kapag nag jo jogging siya.

Anyway, speaking of paglalaro..........Ronald Tubid. Pa sign of the cross pa pero saksakan ng yabang and arrogant.

  12. Hecklers, beware

Last Friday’s post-game incident involving San Miguel Beer’s Danny Ildefonso chasing down a heckler at courtside should be a wake-up call for the stadium security staff, fans and players to guard against a repetition of the ugly confrontation.

To be sure, Ildefonso didn’t start it. But that doesn’t absolve him from losing his cool. A player should know better than to listen to a foul-mouthed fan. Still, a player is only human and there is a limit to one’s patience.

Basketball is a physical game where emotions run high. When a player isn’t performing up to par, he gets frustrated and it’s easy for a heckler to get his goat by pointing out the obvious – that he’s stinking up the court.

There are hecklers whose ambition in life is to needle a player until he reaches his boiling point. They do it because they feel they’re part of the act, that they can influence the outcome of a game. They’re the dangerous kind because they don’t have scruples. They think they’re doing the team they’re supporting a favor by trying to take an opposing player out of his head.

Security staff must be aware where these hecklers are situated in the stands. If they go overboard, security staff should issue a strict warning to behave. If they persist in their insolence, they should be escorted to the exits. That’s how it’s done in the NBA, to avert flare-ups involving players and fans from opposite camps.

Security staff shouldn’t wait for something untoward to happen. They should pre-empt and nip in the bud a potentially explosive situation.

In last Friday’s game, Ildefonso and a fan were jawing it out and exchanging dagger looks for a while until the final buzzer sounded. That was when the two-time MVP blacked out and saw red

The word in the PBA is that Ildefonso’s “victim” is thinking of filing a case. Did he deliberately bait Ildefonso into a compromising position so he could sue for damages?

Heckling is part of the game. In the collegiate leagues, fans even compose verses to make their jeer yells rhyme – all in the spirit of good fun. Of course, some go over the top and the jeers turn into insults, which are personal. That’s when the trouble begins.

For the security staff, it’s important to know when to step in and silence a heckler before he goes overboard.

For hecklers, they should know that insults and invectives have no place in sports. Jeering is acceptable but no cuss words, nothing personal and no taunting.

For players, they should realize that their job is to play the game to the best of their ability with all their heart and soul – that their job is on the court, not off it. It may not be humanly possible but players must at least try to ignore the heckling from the crowd. They’re of no use to their team if they blow their top and lose focus because of the jeering.

  14. Suspended sina Ildefonso and Pingris.

Technical foul yun, level 10, out of the playing court kaagad. You have the right to heckle, boooo the players before kapag ganun language, wag naman.

  15. What happened na to the fan? ANo na latest report sa kanya? AM a fan of Ginebra rin pero kung ganun totoo naman yung sinabing sinigaw niya, foul naman yun at out of the playing court yung hayop na fan. So, nasaan na yun fan?

  16. KNOWING JONG, BAWI TAYO GAME 3

    ===============

With that, sad to say, San Miguel will win the championship. That's what I know Jong will do.

  17. I dont't know what's with the Ginebra players taking 3-point shots after another ganong 'di nga maganda ang percentage nila from the said area last night, that's what i'm afraid of, their 3-point shootings, tama ang sabi noong isang member na 'di araw-araw pasko. Also, they allowed pingris to score noong time na wala si freeman at peña sa loob due to foul troubles and during the time that Ginebra is making its mini-run, kita na ni Jong na 'di kaya ni Intal si pingris sa post-up tapos si Salvacion (who is much shorter) naman ang nilagay, si Mamaril, Wilson, Se or even Kramer na lang dapat ang tumao as these guys are good post-up defenders. On a side note, sobrang asar ko kay tatang racela dahil sa kaartehan n'ya, 'di naman sadya 'yung masiko s'ya, Tubid showed his class when he apologized to tatang, Tubid is a tough player pero 'di marumi maglaro. On a side note, bad trip naman itong CS9, after the game noong sinugod ni danny i. 'yung isang obviously fans ng Ginebra, they should have shown on national TV 'yung nangyayari at 'di 'yung mga papalabas na mga players ng both team ang ipinakita nila (na obviously gaya lang sa NBA finals). Sanctions ought to be made to danny i. para mabawasan ang hooliganism nito, assuming na 'di n'ya nagustuhan 'yung sinabi noong Ginebra fan 'di pa din n'ya dapat pagtangkaan na saktan ang isang PBA fan.
    \

Ginebra was forced to take many 3 point attampts kasi the inside lane was clogged, super clogged. Ang hirap maka penetrate and you are right, nasaan sina Se and Kramer. They could have neutralized teh big men of SanMig and made them feel the inside presence of Ginebra. Menk is not yet 100%.

Di naman marumi ring maglaro si Racela unlike Sharma or even Washington.

That's the way sa media. Late na lang nga when they realized may nangyayari na palang iba sa court.

Sanctions should be made. May sinabi or ginawa sigurong masama yung fan, kung sino mang animal yun, and he, too, should be banned from any games sa PBA. Traces of the Marlou Aquino incident wherein he defended his daughters from a bastos na fan, sinugod din niya. Anak mo yun, and they also have the right to watch llive ang kanila tatay, just like the daughter of Jayjay.

    By the way, congrats, jayjay.

  18. Nasa injury list pa si Spark. Inaayos pa dalawang tuhod at nananakit pa raw.
