Parang Manila.

    MANDALUYONG - Benhur Abalos

  3. Hmmm ano b meron sa mayor namin?

he's a first term mayor. He is supposed to be THE MAYOR, but people say that we have another mayor, His Father.

so parang dalwa mayor namin. gulo no?hehe

in reality, a lot of changes have been made in our city. a lot of beautification, publicity and media hype. which is good for a new look. pati munisipyo bago hehe but with all this, sunod-sunod naman ang corruption charges sa kanya. its hard not to speculate din because may construction company kamaganak nila. ofcourse, with the efficiency of our justice system, i doubt din if mareresolve mga charges against him.

what i really don't like in our city?

    1. nagsulputan ang mga traffic aides! - sa isang intersection mga 3-4 ata sila. and they even don't stay sa intersection. before and after the intersection nakapwesto. kahit pedestrian crossing lang 2 traffic aides! the sad part is..they dont control the traffic! sumasabay lang sila sa traffic light or sa daloy ng traffic. great! i have been in this city since birth. and i never experienced traffic like what we have right now.

    2. malupit ang wrecker samin. its better to park sa hiway kesa itabi mo sa bangketa. pumatong lang gulong mo sa bangketa, wrecker ka na hehe

    3. taxes. from realty tax to business permits to building permits, nagtaasan. pati building permit kelangan na ng business permit?

it's interesting to see what will happen in next year's election.

Actually nagsisi nga ako when i voted for our mayor. Tindi! Ewan ko ba! Sana naman................

  4. well if you ignore a couple of FACTS

that our mayors come from the same family since 1963

that the only time that this family was unseated were 1986-88 and 1992-95

relatively cleaner and safer compared to other Metro Manila cities

traffic is terrible. well i guess like everywhere else

proud to say...our city probably has the best looking and best maintained tricycle station anywhere :)

overall, fair without embellishments, would be accurate

but if you ask me if i'd still vote for this family next elections

    I'd rather not

I've lived long enough in my part of the city to know that the breakthrough in development happened when sometime in 1992

iba naman muna...kahit 3 years lang

after that, kung sila ulit for another 6...mas okay un!!!

    he he he

    Las Pinas?

  5. MANNY PACQUIAO, NOT GOOD ENOUGH

    By Greg R. Penilla, M.D.

    PhilBoxing.com

    Tue, 10 Nov 2009

A new dawn, a new era is about to transpire in the history of the Sweet Science of boxing. By this time next week, Manny Pacquaio would have already emerged as the only boxer in the planet who would become a seven time world champion in seven weight classes.

Multitude of great and Hall of Fame fighters, the likes of Ali, Robinson, Leonard, Armstrong, Chavez, Duran, Sanchez, etc., have gone before him, but the Filipino warrior will go down in the annals of boxing history as the first, and maybe the last, to achieve this extraordinary feat. Interestingly though, a 154 pounds title is within the realm of possibility.

Unfortunately, despite Pacquiao’s unparalleled accomplishments on top of the ring this decade, detractors abound. In spite of his hallowed place in boxing history, some writers, so-called boxing experts and jealous boxers do not give him all the recognition he rightfully deserves.

This coming Saturday, November 14, Pacquaio is going against Miguel Cotto, a very formidable and elite fighter who is in the prime of his career. He has trained hard and he probably represents the most difficult fight so far for Manny Pacquaio. Although the Las Vegas odds seem to overwhelmingly favor Pacquaio to win, this fight will not be a walk in the park for the Philippines’ “National Fist”. This fight has the makings of the Fight of the Year.

However, win or lose, Manny Pacquiao is between a rock and a hard place.

If he loses against Miguel Cotto, his detractors would surely say, “I told you so, he is not as good as advertised”. It is understandable and perfectly logical for some pundits to pick Cotto as the winner. There is nothing unreasonable about that. What is comical is when analysts disparage Pacquiao.

Oscar De La Hoya is favoring Cotto not because he thinks Cotto is a great fighter but he thinks that Pacquiao does not hit hard enough.

He was quoted as saying, “Pacquiao doesn’t hit hard enough to knock anyone out in the welterweight division. I’m basing that on my fight against Pacquiao. I could’ve stood there and put my face in front of him and he couldn’t have hurt me”.

One would wonder if De La Hoya looked at the mirror at the hospital where he was taken by an ambulance after the fight. Obviously, Pacquiao would have sent De La Hoya to dreamland had he come out in the ninth round. But instead of protecting his boxing legacy and his dignity, De la Hoya opted to quit on his stool knowing that another minute with the pound for pound king would inevitably end up with him sprawled on the canvas.

Oscar De La Hoya would have gotten more respect from boxing purists had he decided to fight to the very end. Ironically, he is now practically saying Pacquiao did not hurt him? Please explain!

When, not if, Pacquiao wins this coming Saturday, it will not be surprising for skeptics to find excuses for Cotto’s loss.

    Cotto is over trained

    Cotto is weight drained

Cotto is forever damaged by his loss to Margarito

    Cotto is distracted

Cotto did not fight the right fight

    Cotto has inexperienced corner men

Regardless, excuses will still be made, while Cotto himself has declared that he has completely recovered physically and mentally from the Margarito fight and he is focused, confident, well trained and in the best shape of his life.

Sadly, the doubters will not say, Pacquiao won because he is simply the best boxer of this era.

Manny Pacquiao cannot get any break from some who are hell bent to discredit any of his spectacular wins against all the elite fighters he has demolished.

To the skeptics, he will never be good enough.

When Floyd Jr made the face of Juan Manuel Marquez as a target practice, Mayweather’s supporters all but declared that he is the greatest of all time. There is no doubt that he did win a one sided fight over an old (36), slow, underweight and most of all, a damaged fighter from the two wars he had with Pacquiao.

One really wonders what is more spectacular, a 12 round decision by a significantly bigger, faster and younger fighter who connected a very high per cent of his “power shots” but leaving his opponent standing and relatively unmarked or a smaller fighter who has demolished and reconfigured the faces of his much larger and stronger opponents in breathtaking fashion within a few rounds?

Regrettably, doubters continue to nit pick Pacquiao’s wins.

When Pacquiao, with a mere two week notice, stunned the boxing world in 2001 with his upset win via a 6th round knock out of the world champion Lebwada, the win was called a fluke.

His win against the legendary Marco Antonio Barrera was diminished by the skeptics, pointing out that the future Hall of Famer had been to too many brutal boxing wars and too old (only 29) that Pacquiao’s win was not totally unexpected.

Pacquiao’s inability to finish Juan Manuel Marquez after dropping him three times in their first fight that eventually ended in a draw, notwithstanding an error in scoring that could have made Pacquiao the outright winner on points, convinced the critics that Pacquiao had no boxing skills and a one dimensional fighter.

There was almost a collective sense of excitement among the cynics when Pacquiao lost by unanimous decision to Erik Morales and were eager to point out that Manny was a flash in the pan.

Less than spectacular wins against B fighters like Velasquez, Larios, Solis and a fading Barrera (still only 32) whose strategy was simply to survive, provided the seeds for hesitation for some to declare Pacquiao as a great fighter.

Despite obliterating the Mexican great, Erik Morales in their second and third classic fights, it was unbelievable that some writers still found reasons to tarnish Pacquiao’s astonishing wins. Just like Barrera, Morales was labeled old (only 30) and broken down.

The much awaited second Pacquiao-Marquez fight won by Pacquiao by the slimmest of margin convinced the doubting Thomases that Pacquiao did not deserve the win. It is well known who hit the canvas.

With elite opposition drying up in the lower weight classes, Pacquiao, clearly possessing improved boxing skills embarked on fighting bigger men with spectacular wins. The one dimensional fighter has bloomed into a two armed fighting machine, at the same time remaining fast and powerful.

But to his usual skeptics, Diaz, although a World Champion was a nobody. De La Hoya, although the overwhelming favorite and Oscar’s left hook to Pacquiao’s brain would make him do the crack head dance, was too old (35) and weight drained. Hatton, who was proclaimed by the legendary trainer Angelo Dundee, as possessing a powerful left hook that would bring Pacquiao down but was suddenly labeled to be too slow and over rated after Manny sent him lights out in the second round.

If Pacquaio – Mayweather Fight ever happens and Pacquiao wins, I can almost predict the excuse why Manny wins. He is on steroids.

What more does Pacquiao need to do, to gain the respect of everyone?

Sadly, to some, he will never be good enough.

  6. well, umpisahan ko kay Mayor Lim.......hhmmmm....magaling sa publicity but when you look and observe Manila right now, and dumi dumi, ang daming illegal vendors, ang daming pirated DVDs, ang daming illegal printing of diplomas and documents. THE LAW APPLIES TO ALL, OTHERWISE NONE AT ALL! UGOK!!! Ang tanda na sinungaling pa! Meron pang "THE LAW MAY BE HARSH BUT IT IS THE LAW". What heppend to this guy? Why the sudden transformation from a best performer to a non performer? Wag na tayong lumayo, sa ibaba ng City Hall Taft Avenue side, NO LOADING AND UNLOADING, daming violation, vendors, here there and everywhere. HELP MANILA GET TO ITS FEET AGAIN..>>He will run again for Mayor!!!!

  7. Sarap pa ng buhay noon... bata pa sina GMA at Mike Arroyo noon di pa marunong magnakaw. Tsk tsk !!!!!

    [/qu

Flying A is making a come back. Wala na yung dalawa-JayJay and Mark. Fight to the finish! (Come to think of it, ganun nga ang kanilang style pero kung minsan mas maraming reklamo sa referee kaysa sa concentration sa plays

  9. Wowowee, reality shows of both channels 2 & 7, and sensationalized news reporting.."exclusive!!!"

hahaha, NADALI MO!!!

  11. wowowee i think ranks #1 and SNN @ #2 in terms of MOST HATED.

PBB and Survivor Phil is so SCRIPTED!! i mean damn, i thought " do people really watch this kind of 'entertainment'?

With the mentality of the Pinoys ngayon, star struk na sila sa ganitong mga palabas kaya nga paulit ulit silang binubuhay ng ABS-CBn and GMA-7. Wla kasing advertisements kapag scholastics ang show.

    i dont know why???

pro bka ngaun gamitin xa against TNT.

kulang xe sila. wala si Danny I!

Sorry but I think I am getting old na talaga. Please do away with text type, kung puwede. Anyway, according to reports, Danny I. will be out for four weeks to one month and another player, Jay Washington will be out for, I think, four months.

  13. SMB demolished TNT 100 - 90. Si Pennissi ang best player.

Hehehe, but not that kind of "demolished". SMB was up by 23 points and it was nearly overtaken by TNT when the lead went down to 4! Nakakakaba! Naaahhh, he was just happy that he made the shot. I thought SMB will really bury alive TNT.

    May bukas pa

    Wowowee

hahaha, bigkas nga ng announcer (pabulong) MAY BUKAS PAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Kainis pakinggan, parang ang arte arte. Kaululan talaga ang pinapalabas ng 7 at 2. Puro no brainers!

  15. Kainis naman itong si Manny Villar. Siya ang dahilan kung bakit biglang nag empake ang Pacman Team papunta sa L.A. kasi naman punta ng punta sa ensayo at kausap ng kausap kay Manny (obviously for his presidential ambition). Sinagot na ni Roach and Roach told Manny to immediately pack up to lessen distrations sa training! Manny naman! Bakit ka naman ganyan?

  16. as in na-ban na siya sa PBA after that?

Yes, Rudy The Destroyer Distrito was banned by the PBA and his status reverted to amateur. He then played for the PBL at or sa MBA, forgot na eh.

Guys, help naman. what do you mean by the GILAS after the name ng Smart? What is GILAS?

coz of injury n nsustained nya morning b4 the fight against Purefoods.

  18. Sana manalo parin si Manny. parang marami nanaman masaya kahit binaha.. hehehe

Tama ka diyan and besides Pinoy siya at pinaghirapan niya ang lahat lahat, mga kinita niya, hindi kagaya ng mga K....and S..... By the way, mas maganda si Undertaker (professional wrestler) na sumama sa kanya mid 2000s sa isang laban niya na kunin ulit niya para mailibing na si Cotto (kung ma knockout) after the match OR si Gayweather (tila mas maganda ata yung scenario na yun kay Gayweather kasama na ilibing yung tatay niya)

  19. connect the dots...

what do wynnie arboleda, jimuel torion and mick penissi (tejada injury) have in common?

Same with, what do Rudy Distrito, dela Cruz, Gonzalgo have in common?......you "call the shots" :thumbsupsmiley:

  20. Shaq wants to lead Pacman to ring for bout

By Abac Cordero (The Philippine Star) Updated October 19, 2009 12:00 AM

    Photo is loading...

    Shaquille O’Neal

MANILA, Philippines - Shaquille O’Neal leading Manny Pacquiao up to the ring against Miguel Cotto?

Well, to Pacquiao’s chief trainer, Freddie Roach, it sounds a good idea.

The hottest trainer in boxing today said the bulging NBA superstar had thought of leading Pacquiao to the ring although Roach said he has yet to take it up with Pacquiao seriously – barely four weeks the fight set at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Roach said that awhile back, during the NBA break, he had the chance to give the 7-1 O’Neal, who wears size 23” shoes, some boxing lessons in Los Angeles, and the former Laker superstar brought up the idea and offered himself for the role.

“He sounded like he really wanted to do it,” said Roach, not forgetting that a couple of wrestling superstars have led Pacquiao up the ring in his previous fights.

Former World Wrestling Entertainment champion “The Undertaker” was the first to play the role when he led Pacquiao in his march up the ring for his fight with Hector Velasquez at the Staples Center in 2005. And for the Ricky Hatton fight last May, it was Dave Batista, with Filipino blood, leading Pacquiao to the ring.

    So, why not O’Neal?

Roach said the NBA player who weighs over 300 lb is such a fun guy to be with.

“I saw his shoes in the gym and I wanted to keep them as souvenir so I tried to steal them. But they wouldn’t fit in my gym bag so I had to leave them behind,” said Roach, who recalled the incident with a smile.

O’Neal learned about it, and the next thing Roach knew was that the future NBA Hall-of-Famer had sent him a pair.

“They were so huge they looked like a kid’s toy truck,” said Roach of the giant fellow.

“In the gym, I had to put vaseline on his face and I had to use a stool to do that,” said the American trainer, almost laughing.

He really has nothing against the idea of O’Neal being up there on the ring with Pacquiao.

  21. Guys, comments nyo:

    Pacquiao’s weakness exposed

    October 18, 2009, 4:11pm

Joe Chavez, who once worked for Manny Pacquiao as a cutman, said he holds the key to the victory of Miguel Cotto over the Filipino pound-for-pound king when they clash on Nov. 14 in Las Vegas.

While Chavez has a different role inside Team Cotto with Joe Santiago as head trainer, the seasoned cornerman has immersed himself so much in Pacquiao’s corner that he claims that he knows some of Pacquiao’s innermost secrets.

“When attacked, he (Pacquiao) doesn’t know what to do,” Chavez told the Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia over the weekend.

Before the Argentine-born Miguel Diaz was recruited by Team Pacquiao, Chavez had been a familiar fixture in the corner manned by Freddie Roach, having aided Pacquiao in his bloody brawl with Juan Manuel Marquez and a few of other fights.

“I have other work here (in Team Cotto), but if they ask me, I can help and do my comments and I know Pacquiao very well,” said Chavez.

Aside from Team Cotto’s observation that Pacquiao doesn’t do well when he is the one being pursued, Chavez believes that Cotto’s natural advantage in size will eventually prove to be Pacquiao’s downfall.

“Cotto is (like) a bull. Pacquiao is fast, but Cotto has more power in the punch and is strong. This will be the difference. Pacquiao has never fought as strong as Cotto," said Chavez.

LOLO! BALYADOR!! KALBO! TANG NA.....pero natatawa lang. Ganun talaga and siguro alam na niya kung sino yung pinakasalan niya.
