  1. went there with my family last Apr 7th, very disappointing, too much media hype less stuff to show.

    (1) damn those queues, for 400bucks i must wait in line?

    (2) cartimar in a good day has better stocks and variety.

    (3) for 400bucks after a disappointing tour i sure deserve a short exit, but wait ... there's NONE. endure an uneventful long exit walk, hard selling the inhouse resto and souvenir shop.

    (4) compared to Sydney, Singapore, US and HK, ours is just an aquarium.

    (5) the petting area are supposedly the highlight of the tour, NONE. "you can't touch that" says the attendant. Hell for free you can touch anything you want to if you go to cartimar, even black tip sharks 3 ft long.

    (6) it's greedy to offer a service that's half-baked.

    (7) too few exhibits, nothing expectacular to brag about, obscene entrance fee.

3K+ in less than an hour, robbery I say.

my kid asked the touring attendant what's the tagalog word for eel. well, the attendant didn't know so she went to the nearest eel in exhibit but there's no tagalog translation of eel there. last resort, she asked her supervisor. she couldn't name it either. then my kid say it's PALOS. now the attendants know it's palos. hehehe.

it's been years they've been telling everybody they'll add more attractions. so far only commecial establishments are being added. more fish!

  2. Most recently, I brought a few bottles of Cerveza Negra at Tropical Hut (which is just across Crossings) for the "Quick Toss" and SIR H to taste ....... my soju sister didn't like the much more bitter taste that she added a few teaspoon of sugar into her glass of Cerveza Negra.

(actually i felt the dark beer is more sweet) Sorry OT post. :hypocritesmiley:

last time, i asked her why she added sugar to Cerveza Negra. she quickly replied 'parang kape kasi lasa'.

there you are, Ace of Hearts, and i thought it's only the jwb you consider as coffee!

recently, we dropped by at don esteban's (a cute place in west ave specializing in lukban foods) and ordered longganisang lukban for pulutan. the strong garlicky flavor seemed to match well with sanmig lite, not bad at all.

sugar for beer? she must've been drunk by then! some of us thought it tasted like glorified root beer with alchohol thrown in.

    wonder when she'll be back?

  4. ...

Di pa naman nangyari sa akin na na drain mg mabilis yung battery except when I leave applications running in the background.

one fast way to drain the battery of 5800 is to play a game then push down the 'key lock' switch at the right

  5. Popcorn can easily be included in my planned PULUTAN NIGHT ..... i actually have been regularly bringing them the past few months and they have become the favorites of some of my angels. Some would go to the extent of requesting them from me and not eat any other kind of pulutan.

ICE ICE BABY is one of them.

i lucky to paw the few popcorns left in last night's semi-pulutan mini-inuman birthday celebration cum tequila night at qc. aside from the tasty (probably much tastier when warm) baked lasagna and lechon (which looks like lechon paksiw after a healthy heap of sauce was poured on it), i helped myself with sungsung (peanuts). i was told there were other pulutans but i didn't see even small bits of them 'cause the ladies 'jumped' on them like crazy (as early as 10pm? i wonder what i'd missed). after the tequilas (didn't see any too) were drained asap, the sojus and beers took over. last night's foods and drinks made one heck of a 'breath-taking' scene, all made possible by the veterans of booze and pulutans of qc.

  6. one of the best pulutans i've tried is crispy kuko.

it's a delicacy available in sta. ana.

it's pork feet cooked crispy pata style.

and since it's feet, it's just skin and cartilage. crispy skin, sticky, chewey, melts in your mouth cartilage goes great with beer.

it also actually goes well with rice too.

dipped in a sweet spiced vinegar and soy dipping sauce, heaven.

pls name exact location, i happen to be a guy who pigs out on pigs! hehehe. my personal favorite is patatim. is crispy kuko mostly bones?

  7. Last sunday night I was on my way to the CASTLE for a little "Quiet Time" and while driving along the street of banawe I kept thinking what sort of pulutan I will be buying for me and my angels. Coming from del monte I chanced upon a small eatery and got curious when I saw some people inside waiting for their orders. I immediately found a parking spot across the street, came out of my vehicle and went to the eatery to see was it was all about. (it was around 8:45pm)

    ...

OCTOBOY is relatively easy to find, if you're coming from Quezon ave. take banawe and go straight out pass retiro. It just beside another eatery called ERSAO. (note: OCTOBOY also serve some rice topping and an assortment of other dishes although variety is quite limited at the moment)

people lining up for food is one certain sign the dish tastes great. what a lucky find!

  8. there's another kind of chicharon: the one being served at sd that's different from lapid's. clubs usually serve bituka (more of the large intestine, the small intestine is tougher to bite). the bituka chicharon of tropical hut (sct. borromeo) is steeped in msg/salt/oil mixture that makes you wanna puke.

if you want a good-tasting (at least to my palate) bituka chicharon you have to travel all the way to pioneer center at pasig (pioneer street, of course). inside the supermarket is a kiosk selling bituka chicharon that tastes 'just right'. maybe some of you can suggest somewhere nearer

if the qc guys will allow me again to gatecrash in their next party, i'll make sure to bring half a kilo of it. needless to say, it goes better with beer :)

when i got there at EMHERLYN'S (a small kiosk near French Baker at Pioneer Centre, Pasig) what's left is only 360 pesos worth of it. but the kind tindera gave me a lot of leftover i could munch before reaching queen's castle. inside, the magic of HMP brought the food charge down to 300 (from the usual 500 bucks).

the bitukang chicharon i brought in was not salty nor oily. i was glad the group liked it.

  9. and as always ..... the advise here is to proceed with caution.

Even the regulars here (as well as FM GRACE) do not have the authority to waive food charge or corkage.

thank you for the advise. actually the safest way to get away from the food charge is to request you (which i did in the past) to bring it in. but i don't want to bother you as much as possible and since you may not be present tomorrow, then i just might pay the fee.

although i had many (foolproof) ways to sneak in food or camera undetected by ultra strict guards, i won't employ any of them this time to avoid embarrasing the qc masters. besides, streetlife is well lighted and covert eating a 'sneaked-in' pulutan will result to either ridiculousness or hilarity for the group!

i admire the qc guards though, after the last time i brought in a camera 'by accident', they now always ask me to leave my bag at the door. they are very polite in requesting of course. then they would apologize once they give me bag back on my way out afterwards. so this time, sneaking in some pulutan requires more creativity

  10. Popcorn can easily be included in my planned PULUTAN NIGHT ..... i actually have been regularly bringing them the past few months and they have become the favorites of some of my angels. Some would go to the extent of requesting them from me and not eat any other kind of pulutan.

ICE ICE BABY is one of them.

i was invited to a qc gathering by master FM. i don't know if that event can double as a PULUTAN NIGHT, but i'm bringing chicharon (from Pasig) just in case.

  11. while it's still a puzzle to me why one should drink beer with a 'pulutan soup', i saw several guys drinking beer while eating/slurping their 'ulo-ulo' at the back of veterans hospital, near mindanao ave. these are houses without any signboard, and my favorite place is manned by oriel (926-4413). these houses serve only until 3pm, they refuse to serve leftovers from tanghalian -- talk about FRESH CATCH!

  12. Was able to try out this eatery many weeks ago.

For those, expecting this to be some "out of this world" gastronomic experience ..... you will definitly be disappointed. In my opinion, this is one of those places where you dine to satisfy your hunger..... In fairness, the pork BBQ I ordered turned out quite nice. It was tender enough and the taste itself was not overpowering in sweetness. My companion even egged me to use my hands in eating my meal (of which I'm not very good at) unmindful of the other customers around us.

The unlimited rice concept is not exactly new to the local scene but is still an effective marketing tool to pull in the customers.

    -----------------------------

For fun's sake, just how many servings of rice can one eat with just two sticks of BBQ ??

same question to their small portion of chicken leg. one rice is quite enough. the t. morato branch obviously lacks more electric fans (stand fans or wall types) and at noontime the heat becomes unbearable. ironically they seldom make the airconditioned room unavailable during the warm hours. there's a wall sign with a cell number for texting comments. but my previous complaints (which i'm airing now) had no effect or reply for months

  13. all in all this phone rocks i am tired of synchronizing my iphone thats why i concluded to buy 5800 and sell my iphone. for those who wants to buy a 5800 better choose the silver black one. (no hang) :D

if there's anything i envy about iphone it's the games. especially marble maze

  14. none so far master REMOTE ...... though I have been spreading the word around among some of my potential angels, and they all seem pretty excited.

Will let you know once concrete plans are underway.

tough luck, i got to stay at home while my friends are having a great PULUTAN NIGHT! it will take a week before this halloween mask will wear off from my face.

good fellow drinkers! may the spirits be with you! fr na lang for this first PULUTAN NIGHT

  15. last night i found out that canapes go well with red wine. the place was alexa's deli along de la costa -- (almost at the corner of tordesillas)

their tuna and salami canapes costs only 220 (this big plate is a steal with grapes, walnuts, pistachio nuts, cheese, etc.)

unlimited red wine at 350 pesos only (could their menu price mistyped it? are they pricing their service cheap just to move

    the wine inventory?)

their WIFI is open to everyone (NO PASSWORD at all), very friendly staff, many walk-ins (especially foreigners) buy their wines straight from the shelves :thumbsupsmiley:

they should put up one like this in quezon city!

  17. Has anybody tried PIXIE'S SINUGBA?

If I'm not mistaken, the word sinugba is a Cebuano (Bisaya) word for inihaw or grilled.

It is a grilled boneless MILK FISH (BANGUS). They also removed the scales, fins and almost the entire tail so there's virtually no leftover when you eat it (except for the head, of course, unless you can eat 'em).

I say it is a healthier pulutan alternative than crispy pata, crispy ulo or liempo.

I saw branches located at NS Amoranto (formerly Retiro) cor. Cadig Sts., SM North EDSA Sky Garden, and Mother Ignacia St. (just outside ABS-CBN).

i say health foods are in! hope sir asmodeus can include popcorn in the first PULUTAN NIGHT. if not, i'd be happy to bring some. it's the kind of pulutan shy angels won't be intimidated to grab. and it's oil is so light, it would be good for starters
