  1. one of my favorite source is Ha Yuan, mother ignacia street, almost beside st. paul's church

fish fillets' my favorite, it costs 320 per order with side dish of veggies (chopped baby corns, baguio beans etc).

the fillets are cut in finger food slices and the accompanying sauce is quite yummy too

kikiam comes next, at 60 pesos per order. they come sliced, crispy, just out of the oven. a far taste from those

    being sold by street kiosks

now if your partner was taken and timed-in when you arrive with one of these pulutans,

they're still ok to eat but both taste better if eaten warm.

  2. its a really lreally nice phone. kaso lang di ko alam kung saan makaka kuha ng mga apps.

Suprisingly madali mag text. may landscape mode rin siya. Galing!

this forum has only 8 pages, try backreading to know those websites for apps

  3. dito sa kuwait e napakamura na nyan. makukuha mo as low as 9k,and may bago na lalabas na almost same nyan

sana di yan katulad ng mga 5800 na nabili ng friends ko from dubai. laging nagha-hang. upgrading the firmware didn't help at all

  4. how true. and garmin units (like my etrex vistaC) have more functions too, not to mention it never hangs (at least in my 6 years of experience). but compared to any pda-based gps, which hangs frequently in gps mode, 5800 is much more stable. it hanged on me only twice, and it was during a very long trip.

our group's using the latest rpmap v6.5, but it's sooooo slow. i was one of those who fell back to v3. the thick database of v6.5 is admirable but it works much better in dedicated gps

i was with some friends who worked at dubai a few months ago. the 2 units of 5800 units they bought frequently hang. i suggested they take those to the nokia center for check up. this serves as a warning to be cautious when buying cellphones from dubai: another friend bought his iphone3g there and got the same problem

  5. the classics:

    Roman Holiday

    Breakfast at Tiffany's

    Somewhere in Time

    Sleepless in Seattle

    puro romantic ah, hehehe.

well, i've got a lot of favorites, among them:

    it happened one night

the little shop at the corner

all hayao miyazaki movies (castle of cagliostro, princess mononoke, whisper of the heart, etc)

    abbott and costello meet frankenstein

all kurosawa-mifune films (seven samurai, sanjuro, etc.)

    lady for a day

... (and a lot, lot more. they never bore me to watch them over and over)

    for tv series, nothing beats:

    3's company

    benson

    love boat

    facts of life

    the muppet show

    home improvement

    monk

  6. My Civil Eng professor did the structural design of Virra Mall. I remember I bought some European made t-shirts like Sergio Tacchini, Australian, Fila (the ones worn by Bjorn Borg), etc. in one of the stores (forgot the name) at the ground floor.

virra mall was built the old way: the right way, no wonder it survived all earthquakes.

there were only a few stores that sell general goods in the ground floor. most of them were in the same side where gym equipments (owned by my hindi friends like don, who's still active selling at the 2nd level) were. those were the days, the english-speaking store owners were the ones who manned their stores, you could make kwento and tawad without problems, business was so personal! nowadays it's their tinderas whom you talked to: "ano yun, dong?" the english-speaking greenhills tinderos/tinderas are rarity nowadays.

  7. HI Mr remote world:

WHere is this store that sells P14K? the 5800 music xpress.Help naman. Thanks.

sir tempest21 saw several stores in robinsons selling it for 14k. ask around in greenhills, it's 14k+ 2 weeks ago

  8. ...

sir remote, do you know how to hack the 5800?

nope, but i can always push this and that buttons, right? until i get the system right.

in my early years, i used to 'hack' apple and ibm xt. computer architecture was much simpler then. i used to program with basic (learned the language by the book, then found a company to made me do its inventory program, lakas ng loob lang), dbase, and c. just when i thought i gotten myself comfortable with c++, the software houses introduced a never-ending stream of upgrades. i gave up. it's been a long time i haven't program anything.

oh, going back to basic, one of my old friends, ted, was the 'inventor' of microsoft quickbasic. but microsoft kept sharing that honor/distinction to ted's bosses as well. anyway, he retired very rich! our programming group recently had a reunion last monday at trinoma. many were still active in programming, but they're already top brasses at smart, globe, etc.

  9. Has anyone managed to find a working Divx player for the 5800 that doesn't require the virtual keypad hack?

so far i haven't come across any that plays divx, so i contented myself to playing .mp4 only

btw, has anyone successfully installed the gprs settings of globe so that 5800 can use globe internet?

  10. THANKS!

wow..! ill be available in the afternoon this saturday, can you please pm me your address there? haha, and yes i did install the map already

so far ive install a few themes and applications already

GarmineXT, Youtube , WeFi , SpbTv , Nimbuzz , SlovoEd Dictionary , Smartmovie , PaintPad , Slick(Instant messenger) and some games

and thank god that my unit is able to read the type chinese characters! :thumbsupsmiley:

    sir tempest21,

if you look at the center of the map, X marks the location of remoteworld: #7 Scout Castor Street, Quezon City

  11. just in case wala pang nakakasagot, no it will not

    try smartmovie bro

FYI: brand new nokia 5800 xpress music in robinsons manila costs around 14300 with nokia warranty, without warranty 13800

you're right. but i found that out much much late.

actually, happy na ako playing .mp4 movies because 5800's screen is so highres for such so small a screen. wala rin akong pintas sa audio

the 500 pesos difference means it costs more by 3.5% for the warranty-backed phone. if that will give you peace of mind, ok lang paying 500 more. otherwise, kung mas me peace of mind ka pagnakakatipid ka ng 500 bucks in the short run, then opt for the cheaper one. kung saan ka masaya hehehe

  12. 70's? hmmm, mahahalata na ang edad ko ... hehehe.

well, kabubukas lang ng virramall (where i'd open a store fifteen years after), saw singer tillie moreno (daughter of justice moreno, whom became one of my close friends in virramall); katatapos lang din ng quad (ancestor of glorietta), where there's an aviary park nearby. ba't kaya di na nagkaron ng aviary park kasing-ganda nun? well, 70's is 70's.

oh yes, 4 kami sumakay sa taxi sa quiapo tanghaling tapat. know what? di kami pinagpapawisan. now, it's impossible to ride a cab, even alone, without an aircon turned on. what with manila's pollution and population tenfold increase!

  13. Sir am gona buy 5800 next week. an gone choose red.

Anu po ba mga dapat ko gawin?

I mean mga dapat i-upgrade o mga idodownload pa?

    TIA.

if you're going to buy it in a nokia center (there's one in t. morato ave), might as well ask them right there and then to upgrade its firmware to v21.

but if you plan to buy it elsewhere, your next step is to go to nokia center to upgrade its firmware from v11 to v21.

then after the upgrade, surf the net like hell for free apps that are applicable to you. hahaha

some safe apps can be downloaded from nokia: press 'menu' (white bottom center key), 'applications', 'downloads' if you happen to be in a free wifi spot

heck, why not drop by at remoteworld (call me for appointment at 410-0010, it's open from 9am to 9pm) when you've got the 5800. i'll be glad to show you the ropes. i'm an amateur myself in 5800, but i dig the machine so i tweak its "buttons" and features pagka ginaganahan

  14. I fondly remember Farrah Fawcett in the 1970s here in the Philippines, in fact she was popularly known as Farrah Fawcett-Majors then when she was married to the Six Million Dollar Man, Lee Majors.

Posters of Farrah Fawcett with her iconic hair style were tremendously popular here in the Philippines, I got mine at Harrison Plaza. Charlie's Angels TV Show won't be as popular if it weren't for Farrah Fawcett. Charlie's Angels was a tremendous hit here in the Philippines alongside with Starsky and Hutch, Donnie and Marie and the Muppet Show which were all shown on the 'Where You Belong' Network GMA-7 (a pre-Kapuso days).

I also remember another iconic 70s film 'Saturday Night Fever' where Tony Manero, John Travolta's character in the film, had a Farrah Fawcett poster in his room.

goodbye farrah! dating crush ng bayan

  15. habang may kausap...go to "Record" ..tama ba? hehe

i hope it's that easy, but it's not:

i called up my other phone and pressed 'answer' there to establish a connection/conversation to record (actually i'll just record my own voice). but to my surprise, there's no 'record button' to press, even in 'options'. maybe a third party software is needed.
