Back To The 70's

70s ito bro kaya hindi wrong decade :D

We (my HS barkada) saw Lotis Key dancing (modern jazz) in one of the dance schools then inside GoldCrest beside QUAD Makati. She was wearing danskin leotards and tights, no bra, and sweating all over :boo: . We stayed for sometime and were mesmerized by the beauty and grace of the LOTIS KEY. It was an experience to remember. :thumbsupsmiley:

In the 80's our office was located in the same condo bldg where Lotis Key resided and it was at a great disadvantage to our poor company then because all we did hindi lang sa breaktime was to wait for Lotis Key to take her daily swim in the condo pool :D Also in that same condo was Maria Isabel Lopez. No wonder we didn't get anything done in that blasted office hehehe....

Pareng starbuck911,

In what hotel/club did these Girard Peter models perform again?

Uhhh....if I'm not mistaken, they seemed to be everywhere at one point as long as they were paid for their shows. Yung maalala ko, they had a few regular gigs along South Superhighway. One at the top of the old Tradewinds Hotel (when Singapore Airlines was still a partner), and the other at a place called Cafferino's (or something like that). We also hired them to do a show for a client when I was at an ad agency.

If I'm not mistaken, the other GP models who made it to the movies were Carmi Martin, Anna Marie Gutierrez and Liz Alindogan.

A friend of mine said that Carmi Martin grew up in the neighborhood he grew up in. Hindi raw nila gaano pinapansin iyang si Carmi noong early teens pa siya dahil although maputi raw, e dehin raw gaano maganda. They were all surprised to learn that she became one of the top GP models a few years later. Nag-sisi raw siya at iyong mga kabarkada niya! Hahaha :D

Cafferino's? Hindi ba sa Quezon City ito? I remember one time e nag-punta kami diyan ng mga ka-opisina ko (early 90s). Miyerkoles Santo pa no'n! Hahaha!

I'm not aware of one in Q.C. during the early 90's, so maybe you're right. I know that the Cafferino's I was referring to existed around the latter part of the 70's when Tradewinds was still new. Di sila tumagal diyan, that's all I can remember.

The other angel was Yehlen Catral mga tsong.

And so was Liz Alizdogan, who was later linked (or wife?) to stuntman Jess Lapid, Jr.

If i'm not mistaken, GP started off in '78 or '79 but the first time I was able to watch

the all-star group was in '81 at a hotel (i cant quite recall now) near Afro Disco in Malate

when I was asked by my boss to tag along with him naka coat and tie pa kami. :P

Some common slang or linggo of the 70s:

syota - gf

baduy/bakya - low class

plastic - wannabee

tipar - party

yosi - cigarette

bigat - cool

damo - marijuana

pula - red devil downers

kilay/ekis - madrax downers

mogs - mogadon downers

erbi - beer

toga - shoes

yoyo - watch ;)

Siya lang yung hindi GPs model. I saw her then sa pictorial in Tropicana. Hindi ko type.

Danced with some celebrities before in Discos (most of them in Wherelse), some before they became famous.

Do you remember them:

1. T Agbayani

2. Chona Aristorenas (Castillo)

3. Jill (Pinky) Amador

4. Pia Moran

5. Maribeth Bichara

Sa mga 'tweeners like us in the 70's, our idol - ingenue "wish-i-was...or sana I looked-like" was CLOSE UP GIRL Tetet Limjap (now Crisol) na super wholesome.

The models of RUSTAN's VIP and TRIUMPH'S COURT OF FASHION. They are all a class of their own! :thumbsupsmiley:

Ang ganda niyang si Pia Moran and or course, the great Tetchie Agbayani!!! :thumbsupsmiley: I credit Tetchie Agbayani for piquing my interest in the German edition, este language. :)

Regarding Maribeth Bichara, madalas kong makita iyan noon sa Magallanes Church on Sunday mornings kasama iyong "darling" niya na si Bingo Lacson, the DJ and daughter of the late Mayor Lacson. ST iyang si Maribeth. :D I wonder where she is now.

Thanks Mandrake...yes it was called RUSTAN'S VIP.  All the members  were from buena familias...many of them are now ultra-chic matron-lets  :) ...the closest i got was a RUSTAN's VIP Discount Card.. :D

Hi Sis Augustmoon. Musta na. kasali ka na rin ba sa mga matron-lets? :D

The closest I got was to date some of them. One even went beyond but my lips are sealed. :P

I also went out with some beauty pageant contestants then, from BP to Mutya. Kaladkarin ako noon. :hypocritesmiley:

What I really missed though was the chance to be one of the escorts in the Miss Young International pageant. I had a terrible allergy attack - grabeng pantal ko noon with matching asthma pa because of the formalin. Lecheng Zoology iyan.

Ang gagaling nilang mag-SWING noon except for Maribeth. Although we had a movie where we danced with her. Ang bida sa movie ay si Ate Vi. :thumbsupsmiley:

Last time I danced with Maribeth after a long, long time ay sa isang Salsa Night noong bukas pa ang Aresi accross ABS CBN. Batu-bato siya noon. Ewan ko lang ngayon.
