storm Posted July 22, 2004 Author Share Posted July 22, 2004 hmmmm Rizal Theatre stood in the present Shangrila Makati...Alemars Bookstore is now 6750 building, Makati Supermarket then...Landmark now.....Giftgate was located at the present Bio Research shop in Glorietta, Quad Amusement park (video games & bumpcars) is now Parksquare One, Syvels was the hip department store inside the location of Glorietta...the park was a roller skating rink...Mass location...near North Mall Mcdonalds , there was also 3M pizza inside, Magoos (fronting Anson's) and Sesame Street Pizza & Burger Station....The Bacolod Chicken House beside Ansons was Beef 50/50 Burger House....The Ayala Heritage Library was known then as The Nielsen Tower..which was the control tower of the Ugarte Airstrip (Makati Avenue before was the Airfield for light aircraft).....hehehe Ang hindi ko malimutang burger ay yung mismong nasa sentro ng Glorietta na located sa lugar na kinatayuan before ng 3M PIzza --- GREAT AMERICAN DISASTER. Grabe kamahal ang burger pero walang katapat sa sarap. Charbroiled tapos freshly ground yung beef. Ang sarap talaga. Hindi ko rin malimutan jan yung Ling Nam. The best beef mami ever. He won a brand-new colored TV - and it was the first colored TV ever in our neighborhood in Pasig bods, gm ang naglabas ng harabas to counter the success of the fiera. pero naunahan na sila. i have seen fieras in the provinces still running...would you believe i have seen one here in bangkok -- right hand pa --! the others followed; the toyota tamaraw, mitsubishi cimarron...dmg came out with the trakbayan, on the heels of the sakbayan, a highly successful, and indigenous, prototype of the asian utility vehicle. kaya lang, nalugi ang dmg, kaya nawala na rin ang mga volks (there are still a lot of beetles in rp, but the passat and its two-door version, the surf, is fast disappearing...same with the buggies) which they were disributing. even rarer is another locally made vehicle that resembled the sakbayan but was sleeker (if you can call it that). this was the renault sibat. i have not seen any since the 90s...i hope someone out there still has one in running condition! lack of spare parts have turned many sakbayans and sibats into scrap.
