SunflowR
idol storm, good morning! nakita rin kita dito. salamat sa welcome. nasa page 7 na ako. hehehehe! pinag-uusapan ung apo hiking society sa page 6. i watched their concert here last june 4, 2004. live in tampa, florida. right here at the bayanihan arts center. napuno ung concert hall at sila ung unang concert na ginawa dito sa bayanihan na pinaka puno. i was at the audience and 'am one of those who can't help but cry. drama, ano? hindi ko kasi mapigilan. habang kumakanta sila ng mga songs na halos di ko na narinig, tumutulo ung luha ko. i missed home. halos di kami tumitigil sa clappings at sigaw. i enjoyed the show. may pagbabago na rin sa kanilang mga kanta. same songs, pero maypagkakaiba. they are with joey albert who is now based in canada. she still looks d same. hindi tumatanda. beautiful pa rin and magaling kumanta. mag post ako ng pics: pic 1: bayanihan arts center, tampa florida (we are very proud of this building which is now a landmark in tampa, a dream made real by generous & hard working filipinos here.) pic 2: inside the concert hall , APO pic 3: inside the concert hall, APO with joey albert Quote Link to comment

storm
Nice pix madam. Happy backreading. The first time I saw Joey Albert was in their school (Assumption) concert in 1977. She was more beautiful then. I was with a friend (not girlfriend) who's also an Assumptionista. Quote Link to comment
SunflowR
In the mid-1970s, calculators still weren't used that much. I remember that my brother, who was an Engg student at UP during that time, didn't bring a calculator to school. He brought a slide rule. A slide rule! You had a read an entire book just to know how to use a slide rule.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> i agree, bos jt. 'am using a slide rule too, during my first yr in college. we need to learn how to use it coz we can't use calcutors. pero sa later part ng course ko, pinagamit na kami ng calculator. it was a relief really. hindi kasi exact ung slide rule. u need to round off the last no. laking effect noon sa calculations. SunflowR
A typical "tipar" .... Sa "haybols" ng kaibigan, best kung malaki ang sala. Potluck o kaya may prior damage para sa pagkain. Several sofas on one side of the sala, more sofas on the opposite side. The music plays. Sugod ang mga "kelot" sa mga "bebot." May I have this dance? The entire place is in darkness so you can't even see the face of the person you're dancing with. Pero mayroon nang mga identified na maganda. Hotdog, Eric Clapton, Haji, Tito Mina, Commodores. Paano ba mag-party mga bata ngayon ("bata" meaning late elementary or high school)? SunflowR
pasingit ha....guys saan nakakabili ng turn table? may nabibilhan pa ba? na mi miss ko lang pakinggan yung mga old LPs ko....mga 60s and 70s pa.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> ^binalikan ko ito. dito meron pa ring turn table akong nakikita. new look. mas maganda pa ung style. kahit mga LPs, meron pa rin. robbietan
kahit naman sa amin, basta sa loob ng bahay oks lang (daw) na gumapang kami sa lasing. ang rationale ng olds: better malasing kayo dito kesa isang beerhaus. which I agree. kaya bihira ako lumabas kahit today, hanggang tingin lang sa dancers pero i leave the drinking to a friend's house... Jam session is 60s. Yan yung term ng mga older cousins ko. Nung 70s hindi na uso ang term na jam session, "typar" na. As in "pre san ang typar?" Yugyugan na! Astig ang typar kapag may mirror ball at strobe light. Pangkaraniwan noon ay black light. Typical drink sa typar ay punch na nasa punch bowl (but of course). I remember yung paborita. It's bigger than galletas. Pangterno nga sa kape iyan gaya ng binanle at biscocho, Quote Link to comment
SunflowR
^yeah, idol storm. got u there! coz i was in my elementary grades pa noon. katuwaan lang nga naman. paborita at kape para sa naglalamay . hehehe! hanga ako sa memory mo. :upside: Quote Link to comment

Anaheim
jam session is indeed a 60s term. I remember my uncle who used to be a regular in "Dancetime with Chito" TV show in the 60s. he would always call his partner and tell her 'ma-le-late na tayo sa jam session' Quote Link to comment
Anaheim
saw the documentary IMELDA, saw Ronald Reagan (then governor) and Nancy Reagan at the inauguration of the cultural center of the philippines in 1969 with imelda. I remember a P500,000 question at Eat Bulaga kung sinong u.s. president ang dumalo sa inauguration ng CCP. it's a trick question kasi governor pa si ronald reagan at the time. ang sinagot ng contestant ay richard nixon...kung pinanuod nya lang yung imelda docu eh di meron na syang half a million pesoses! SunflowR
Yeah, you're right. I saw the sister of my ex-gf and siempre I asked how is she? She was so surprised that I didn't know that her sister is dead. She died last year, and it was published in the obituaries of both The Bulletin and The Inquirer. They didn't know how to reach me. It was an awkward moment. Sad and awkward.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> ^ 'am in page 15 and i came across this. 'am so sorry to hear that, idol storm, but a story of the same situation flashed back to my memory. it did not happen to me, of course. siguro makulay ung buhay mo? pwedeng isapelikula.
