Back To The 70's

Recommended Posts

Back in college in the 70's we had a classmate who works out in the gym so he had great muscles.  We used to call him Totoy Bato - kasikatan ng pelikulang yun ni FPJ nuon :D

totoy bato? parang napanuod namin ng father ko yan. boxer ba si fpj dun? if i am not mistaken ang kalaban ni fpj duon ay si roland dantes (yung magaling mag arnis) if my memory serves me right habang nagte-training sila before the big bout, Roland Dantes ate T-bone steaks while FPJ ate tuyo, talong, rice.

I remember a Roland Dantes movie....PACIFIC CONNECTION shown in 1974 or 1975 with NANCY KWAN ('Sand Pebbles' with steve mcqueen, 'Dragon: the Bruce Lee Story' with jason scott lee). Roland Dantes as an arnis martial artist who battles the spaniards in the philippines of the 19th century. maganda yung quality ng film parang panavision ng hollywood. sa recto ko napanuod ito nuong 70s.

Steve Mcqueen was a sailor and the only thing I can remember about the film is the ending - where the character of Steve Mcqueen was shot dead as he was walking away. It was one of the first films I saw na namatay ang bida so malungkot ako nuon :D

hindi ko siya naabutan pero I've read a lot of books and watched some movies about the 70's and I really love that era.

the 70's were a lot of fun...

Movies - that was the time when the classics came out - EASY RIDER, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, JAWS, STAR WARS, PAPER MOON, MIDNIGHT COWBOY, DELIVERANCE..

Drugs - a lot of us survived anyhow hehehe...

Music - heyday of Led Zep, Deep Purple, Grand Funk, Steely Dan, BTO...

The 90's and this new century seems ho-hum by comparison...

I was never much of an FPJ fan in terms of movies. But I voted for him, and I feel a sincere loss at his passing. Where I'm concerned, a president has died. His most memorable film for me was "Ang Pagbabalik ng Lawin," with Tina Revilla and the (also late) great Max Alvarado.

Doon kami "nag-experiment."  Never became a habit, though, kahit sa UP na marami rin mahilig.

But after engaging the sidewalk in a bear hug after a night of gin and grass, I began to forswear the stuff :D
