I think Arlovski's chin would be a bit suspect to Fedor's KO power as evidenced in his second fight with Big Timmy. Also If Fedor decides to take him down I'm not sure he can stop him. Cro Cop's Sprawl is way faster than the Pitbull's in my opinion and yet Fedor took him down at will.

In an MMA fight you never know which Andrei Arlovski would show up. The strong agressive KO and Submission Artist who put down, Buentello and Tim Sylvia or the timid, unsure fighter who winds up with a boring decision win/loss (like in that 5 rounder with Timmy and his fight with Fabricio Werdum). It's always a Jekyll and Hyde situation when it comes to Andrei Arlovski. Let's just hope that in his fight with Fedor it isn't the latter who shows up.

Adre Vs Fedor nice! that i'd like to see go the distance with a lot of banging and sub attempts from both fighters. ^_^

the Fedor, Tim fight was a classic, classic Fedor highlight moment ^_^

Yes another one for the Emperor's highlight reel indeed. He did exactly what he had to do. Against someone who is long (and uses that to his advantage with the classic jab-straight combo) you try and close the distance quickly. He not only closed the distance he fired shots straight down the pipe which wobbled the former UFC champ.

seeing the TimXFedor again and watching highlights of FedorXHong Man Choi, Choi actually did better than Fedor.

I don't what that means for Tim though.

Yah Hong actually had Fedor in more trouble than Tim did. Yung laban dati ni Fujita saka ni Fedor yun ang nakakahinayang. Fujita had him wobbled. That was the closest has ever come to defeating Fedor.

As for Big Tim. Well how about a match between him and Hong Man Choi just to find out. hehe. I don't know if Choi can cut dow to the 265 weight limit though it might be too hard for him.

yeah I remember that

Rampage was sitting in with Bas, and they were doing the commentary, Rampage kept going on and on how Fedor was doing the "chicken dance".

I remember Randleman slamming Fedor on his head too

Maybe Fedor really isn't human

I mean look at this:

the most dangerous man in the world can't possibly look as goofy as that.

Yah who could forget that jumping german suplex at the pride heavyweight Grand Prix. I honestly thought Fedor had been knocked out by the move as he clearly landed on his head. Amazing that he rolled out of it into side control and got the winning keylock. He really seems to be superhuman.

That's part of Fedor's mystique also. That he really doesn't look that dangerous. He doesn't seem that imposing. He doesn't have the 6pack or the well defined muscles you'd see with most fighters but he has perhaps the highest level of skill among all MMA fighters today. He looks goofy out of the ring but has that stonecold stare during the fight.

yep chief he seems emotionless once he is in the ring to fight. i also though he was out after the Randleplex, he landed on his head and his neck gave a bit but hot damn he shrugged it off. i'd say he's got a better chin than Big Nog. he takes the punishment and gives it back or maybe even gives it back 2 fold. he really deserves the titles international master of sports for both sambo & judo, and if there ever will be one for MMA itself he'd be the one who's got first dibs on it

Is it really official?! Arlovski vs. Fedor on Oct. and they gonna do it in UFC's hometurf in Las Vegas?! That's interesting?! I was hoping it would be Barnett vs. Fedor but either of the two whom Fedor will fight is a good match! And yes! People criticized Fedor fighting Hong Man Choi?! Try matching up HMC with other heavyweights lets see what happens?! Couture vs. Fedor definitely in 2009! Still believing... it must happen!!! :thumbsupsmiley:

yeah after the Tim fight, i must admit that Choi did better than Tim against Fedor. or was it that Fedor knew already what to do as he had experience in fighting Choi previous Tim.

what i'd like to see next is a Aleksander Vs Tim fight, hehehe lets he he tries to jab a UD against that banger. ^_^

Yup Aleksander against Big Timmy would be cool. Aleksander has the same power and aggressive style his brother has but with less "oxygen". hehe. and Tim's gone the 5 rounds (championship rounds) in the UFC several times. Maybe against him he'll have a slightly better chance.

Diego Sanchez vs. Thiago Alves at UFC 90

by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Jul 24, 2008 at 10:01 am ET

Diego SanchezA bout between welterweight contenders Diego Sanchez (19-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) and Thiago Alves (15-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC) originally earmarked for UFC 89 has instead been pushed back to the following week's Chicago-area UFC 90 event.

A source close to one of the fighters confirmed the move with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

However, despite reports that the fight would headline the event, the source tells us that the Sanchez vs. Alves bout could end up with co-main-event status.

UFC 90 takes place Oct. 25 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., near Chicago.

For Alves, who most recently defeated contenders Karo Parisyan and Matt Hughers, this latest booking would be another crack at a top-10 opponent. For Sanchez, it would be his biggest opportunity to prove he's back to his top form.

Alves, who hasn't lost since a second-round TKO defeat to Jon Fitch in August 2006, most recently fought and defeated Hughes in a late-booked main event for UFC 85. Despite failing to make weight (claiming an ankle injury he said he suffered in the days before the fight), Alves dominated all aspects of the bout, eventually forcing a second-round TKO stoppage due to strikes.

It was sixth consecutive victory in the UFC, which has included wins over Parisyan, Chris Lytle and John Alessio. Of his eight UFC wins, seven have come via knockout.

Sanchez, meanwhile, will look to continue the momentum of back-to-back victories over David Bielkheden and Luigi Fioravanti. After beginning his career with 17 consecutive victories to emerge as a top contender, Sanchez suffered a unanimous-decision loss to Josh Koscheck (though Sanchez was dealing with a staph infection) and then a split-decision loss to Fitch.

As we previously reported, discussions have been underway that could move Anderson Silva's next title defense from a tentative UFC 88 date to UFC 89. However, a source close to the event now tells MMAjunkie.com that UFC 90 is also under consideration for Silva's title defense, which could come against Patrick Cote. An announcement is expected soon.

Keith Jardine says he's fighting Brandon Vera at UFC 89

by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Jul 23, 2008 at 11:52 am ET

Keith Jardine (13-4-1 MMA, 5-3 UFC) will look to rebound from his recent loss to Wanderlei Silva when he meets Brandon Vera (9-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) at UFC 89, an event that takes place Oct. 18 at The NIA in Birmingham, England.

Jardine today announced the fight on an Albuquerque radio show.

The light heavyweight bout will likely end up on the night's main card, which currently features a headline bout between Michael Bisping and Chris Leben.

However, the UFC has yet to announce the fight.

Jardine most recently suffered a stunning, 36-second knockout to Wanderlei Silva at UFC 84. The loss came right after the biggest win of his career -- a split-decision victory over Chuck Liddell in September 2007.

With a May 2007 loss to Houston Alexander, the Team Jackson fight has now lost two of his past three fights -- the first such stretch of his seven-year career.

Vera, meanwhile, will look to shake a recent three-fight funk. After a unanimous-decision loss to Tim Sylvia at UFC 77, Vera then suffered a first-round TKO to Fabricio Werdum at UFC 85. He then decided to drop to 205 pounds, and though he scored a unanimous-decision victory over UFC newcomer Reese Andy at this past weekend's UFC Fight Night 14, the performance was flat and heavily criticized.

The fight with Jardine is essentially a must-win for Vera, a former top heavyweight contender who had, at one time, been promised a title shot with then-champ Tim Sylvia, but a feud with his manager kept the fight from happening. Since returning from that year-long layoff, Vera -- who began his UFC career with four consecutive stoppage victories -- has posted three lackluster performances.
