Capt Spaulding
Bisping, who won a controversial split decision over Matt Hamill at UFC 75, could have received an immediate rematch with Hamill at UFC 78 but Hamill needed time to rehab from surgery. Hamill developed a partially torn meniscus on his knee while training for UFC 75 and went in for surgery two weeks after the fight. Quote Link to comment
JediMasterTebs
He was injured in that fight and he beat the snot out of Bisping, only to be robbed.. D*mn, that s*cks.. Sayang nasa Ohio pa naman ang laban, yun yung napagusapan namin dati ni 705, kung may rematch sa Ohio na sana sya ganapin.. Pareng 705: Yeah Ultimate Iceman is a must have, orig man yan o galing sa kaibigan nating si Abdul.. Basta ako when it comes to MMA binibuild ko pa lang foundation ko.. Larry
from www.fightopinion.com PRIDE office in Tokyo shut down, all workers firedSports Navigator (Yahoo Japan) is reporting tonight (Thursday night Japanese time) that Jamie Pollack, the Zuffa-appointed legal advisor who went to Japan shortly after Lorenzo Fertitta purchased the assets of PRIDE from Dream Stage Entertainment, has shut down the PRIDE FC Worldwide office in Tokyo. Furthermore, the report claims that Pollack fired all PRIDE WW employees with a telephone call. PRIDE public relations boss Mr. Sasahara (who is/was close to Hustle and Nobuyuki Sakakibara) issued a public apology to the fans. Sasahara said that the PRIDE staffers are confused and bewildered by the sudden closing of the office, further adding that he feels resentment towards the way the American owners betrayed the people who supported PRIDE. Sasahara reiterated that he believed what Lorenzo Fertitta had initially stated about the future of PRIDE, but now the operation is finished and staffers couldn’t access or get to cell phones or personal computers. Personal reaction: Naturally, the Japanese media and MMA insiders will use this story to portray Zuffa as a bunch of cold, calculated gaijin invaders who officially destroyed PRIDE. The image of UFC and its parents owners in Japan has been tarnished by the way the PRIDE situation has been handled. Is UFC’s entry into the Japanese marketplace permanently damaged? As for Pollack firing the PRIDE employees by telephone… at least he or his family members won’t be physically harmed. Somehow, I don’t think the firings on a face-to-face basis would have turned out so well. ------- now its official I guess, Dana doesn't want anything to do with Pride anymore, he just went in and poached their talent. RIP to the greatest MMA show on earth. Quote Link to comment
Capt Spaulding
Kongo-Nogueira at UFC 79? With his win over Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic at Ultimate Fighting Championship 75, French striker Cheick Kongo solidified himself as a top contender in the heavyweight division. Now it appears that Kongo is headed for a UFC 79 showdown with former Pride heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. According to Reed Wallace of White Chocolate Management, who represents Kongo in the United States, the UFC has offered the Dec. 29 bout. Said Wallace, “We accepted pending Nogueira's acceptance. The bout agreements have not yet been signed so the fight is not yet official.” The biggest question in the Frenchman’s game continues to be his groundwork. In his loss to Carmello Marrero last year, he was taken down at will and unable to get out from under the much smaller fighter. What Kongo would face in Nogueira is possibly the most versatile and dangerous submission specialist in the world. For him to win this fight Kongo would likely need to keep it on the feet or he could be in for a long night considering the skill level Nogueira, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, possesses in his ground arsenal. He is quick, however, to deflect criticism of his own ground skills. “Don't look for these small bugs,” said Kongo adamantly. In the fight with Cro Cop, he did find himself in a bad position on the ground, but was able to work his way out when Cro Cop had him mounted. “I remained attentive,” said Kongo I'm tired of saying that I'm a good wrestler.” Once out of danger in the first round, Kongo became the predator, continually stalking Cro Cop who spent the latter part of the fight backing up. Nogueira, however, is regarded as a much better ground fighter than Cro Cop and if the fight goes to the ground, Kongo will likely have a more difficult time than he did with the Croatian. Kongo will need to work another solid game plan if he hopes to defeat Nogueira and earn a title shot against current champion Randy Couture. Edited October 5, 2007 by Spoiler Quote Link to comment

vindiesel
i think and felt that in the griffin - rua match.......rua ws way out of shape.......first round pa lang hingal na siya.....di man lang niya na puwestuhan si griffin.....i think in his next match dealy nanaman si rua.....if not he deserves to be out of the ufc.......as for griffin.....he really dersed that win.....it looks like he really trained hard for it in the lidell - jardine match.........it was really a different liddell.....parang walang ganang lumaban......it's like his head and body were not connected..........we was not even checking the kicks of jardine.....i think that liddell was over confident......after beating all the ufc greats, ihaharap si jardine???.....kala niya kayang kaya niya number one talaga si couture......even if his record does not show it.......he was retired but came out of retirement because he thinks that the heavyweight champs were not worthy of being called champs.....he came out ofretirement and cleaned house.....proving to us all na tama nga siya....they were not worthy to be called champs vera - slivia will be a very good match to watch Quote Link to comment
