FOI advocates press Palace on promised EO

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/794780/foi-advocates-press-palace-on-promised-eo

Malacañang executives on Wednesday held a consultation meeting with freedom of information (FOI) advocates who want to make sure that the President’s impending executive order (EO) to put the principle in effect should actually lead to the faster release of government data to the public.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea met with Nepomuceno Malaluan, convenor of the Right to Know. Right Now! Coalition, and Malou Mangahas of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism.

Following the consultation, Andanar said the executive order on FOI may be ready by tonight. He posted a picture of the meeting on his Twitter account.

@inquirerdotnet Don't rush them or you will get a lousy one. A lousy law is worse than no law because it ends all attempts at a good one.

Cop keeps P7M, ‘shabu’ in home fit for general

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/787531/cop-keeps-p7m-shabu-in-home-fit-for-general

He may be of low rank, but P02 Jolly Aliangan has built a house “fit for a general.”

The drugs were allegedly supplied by a syndicate still being run by a drug lord who was already convicted and serving time, the National Bureau of Investigation said.

Aliangan, an antinarcotics officer who reports to the National Capital Region Police Office, was also tagged by the NBI as a “reseller” of drugs that were earlier confiscated in police operations.

“He is a mover of illegal drugs sourced from a drug lord (held) at New Bilibid Prison,” said Max Salvador, head of the NBI-National Capital Region office, following the arrest of Aliangan at his house on Palawan Street, Sampaloc.

On one hand this is a good gesture of humility by the most powerful man in this country.

On the other hand, kelangan pa din magingat.

There has been a long standing belief that the country needs a "benevolent dictator" as the long term solution to all that ails us. We may have finally found one in President Digong. Let us hope that he will turn out to be that leader who has eluded us all this time. Each year we fail to find such a leader, the deeper we fall into this mess we are already in.

Taking avantage of the law and authority given to them. Kotong, lagay, bribes, x-deals, under the tables, etc.

Tuluy-tuloy na progress against crime and corruption. I'm happy to see what's happening. Wag lang siya magkakamali big time dahil madaming nagaantay and mga oportunista.

Floating 'shabu laboratory' found in Subic Bay

http://news.abs-cbn.com/nation/regions/07/11/16/floating-shabu-laboratory-found-in-subic-bay

UBIC, ZAMBALES - A 50-meter fish carrier vessel that allegedly served as a "floating shabu laboratory" was seized by authorities along the coast of Barangay Calapandayan, Subic, Zambales on Monday night.

PNP Director General Ronald dela Rosa, who boarded the fishing vessel, said the boat was being used to bring illegal drugs to the Philippines from abroad.

"Sa loob lang ng dalawang araw, nakakagawa na ng shabu. Ibabagsak sa dagat, may pipick-up na Pinoy sa mga lugar. Route possibly Ilocos to Cagayan and Ilocos to Pangasinan from Subic,” he said.

Four Chinese from Hong Kong were arrested in the operation.

Duterte starts term with 'excellent' trust rating – SWS

The Social Weather Stations survey is conducted from June 24 to 27, just a few days before President Rodrigo Duterte's inauguration

http://www.rappler.com/nation/139578-duterte-trust-rating-excellent-sws?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=referral

At the start of his administration, President Rodrigo Duterte obtained an excellent +79 net trust rating, according to the latest Social Weather Stations survey released on Wednesday, July 13.

According to the results of the SWS survey, first published on BusinessWorld, 84% of respondents said they had "much trust" in Duterte, 5% had "little trust," and 11% were undecided, for a net +79 trust rating.

The survey was conducted from June 24 to 27, 2016 – just a few days before Duterte's inauguration – among 1,200 respondents, 300 each from the 4 major regions, Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

There is a +/-3 margin of error for the national percentage.

Duterte's trust rating at the start of his administration is comparable to that of former President Benigno Aquino III. Aquino began his presidency with an "excellent" net trust rating of +83.

The SWS classifies net trust ratings of at least +70 as “excellent."

It's interesting to know what's Pnoy's rating at the end of his term.

It's interesting to know what's Pnoy's rating at the end of his term.

I think it was still positive (50+), a feat in itself as it is more than what we can say for other outgoing Presidents and this is despite criticisms of the supposed ineptitude of his Administration. Althought the feat of Duterte is that immediately after the election, he only had a +26 approval rating which has now shot up to +79. As opposed to Aquino who already had that excellent rating from the elections up to his first days in office. This reflects optimism in the country, which we need in this transition period so as not to spook investors away.

What would be more interesting is where Duterte will spend this high initial political capital. PNoy spent his pushing for the RH Bill. Given the present media reports, Duterte will probably spend it pushing for the Death Penalty or perhaps on the proposed bilateral negotiations with China.

The gov't and the MILF agree to work together on the campaign vs. illegal drugs in MILF affected areas

The MILF agreed to submit to the gov't a list of drug personalities identified in its area. Law enforcement agencies to verify.

According to sir filibustero, nagsimula si duterte ng +26, now he's at +79, so hindi lahat nagsisimula from the top. Unless you have facts to dispute it sir jopoc.

100 days nanaman... dont take it literally sasabihin ng mga followers ni duterte.

figuro of speech lang ang 100 days

Hindi naman sinabi how much will it improve. So mahirap i quantify ito. EDSA lang ba ang magiging basehan nito? Maghigpit lang ang HPG sa traffic discipline sigurado may konting improvement na kahit papano.
