Duterte's Presidency : Expectations, Controversies, Rants, Etc.

I agree with the Duterte mob, the blame is squarely on the shoulders of the Yellow Media.

Tsk. Para lang sa pera. Mga bayaran talaga yang Yellow Media. Mga p#tang$na nila.

Duterte should be careful with what he says in Public. He should tone down. The damage has already been done. It's a war that the Philippines cannot win.

Really??? Maging mapanuri.

where were these people who ask na maging mapanuri when the media was bashing Erap, GMA, Binay, Corona? etc?

the media has been like that for decades and ngayon lang kayo magiging mapanuri?

if you want mapanuring media, stick with mocha's FB page... dun ang nagbobolahan ang mga "mapanuri"

----

point is, Digong places us at a bad light with what he said, no matter how you interpret it.

he is now known as the thug who called the POTUS a "son of a whore" whether true or not.

Nung panahon ni Erap di pa uso gaano social media, pero he had his fare share of defenders. So is the rest na binanggit mo dyan.

Duterte has his fantards, Noynoy has his fantards, Manny pacquiao has his fantards, fanatics are everywhere.

But what I am saying is that it is good that we live in a day and age where we have more power to comment or even counter the major new media outlet, at hindi gaya nung after 1986, na naging gospel na lang ang kabayanihan ng mga Aquino.

Digong is the manager of our country right now. It's his style. Well, 6 years nating madadama ang ganyang style nya. It's either we adapt to his style or will just air our thoughts in the social media. Personally, i'm happy with what's happening right now, may aksyon! - Administrasyon kontra droga, kontra ASB, corruption in government, faster transaction with government agencies, illegal mining, etc.. I just hope magtuluy-tuloy ang momentum ng change. I just hope that all our views unite with the goal of coming up with solutions to the different problems we're facing right now: Drugs, transparency in government (sana mapasa ang changes sa bank secrecy law), FOI, traffic at kung anu-ano pa.

Pwede mong panoorin parekoy. You're welcome.

He threatened to curse the President of the United States in front of the international forum. Any intelligent person would see this as improper and inappropriate especially directed toward a World leader who has not shown disrespect toward the Filipino nation.

Bakit ngayon ang headline "Duterte called Obama a Son of a whore?" it makes all the difference. Semantic manipulation ginawa dito malinaw na malinaw.

Ikaw kaya panoorin yan ulit, sino ba mas kinakastigo nya dito?

Tsk tsk tsk.

Duterte was taken out of context. Duterte said "p#tang$na" out of exasperation and not directed at Obama. International media, probably to sensationalize it, spun it out of context. But hey, Duterte is now famous world-wide. Negative publicity is still publicity. The international media failed to report the essence of what Duterte said and that is the he won't get cowed by any foreign nation.

Bringing up Roxas and the Yellow Media as a bogeyman is right up the alley of the Peter Tiu Lavina social media operatives playbook. I do not buy that spin as we can see the raw footage for ourselves. Conjuring up a conspiracy theory, making up and hyping the supposed existence of a Yellow Media is a strategy to consolidate and rally the Duterte base against a made-up target. A bogeyman.

If we are to believe this narrative, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, BBC and all of the Western Media are part of the Yellow Media. I do not like this bogeyman tactic as it effectively obfuscates discussion of real facts and issues. In the case of this Duterte gaffe, the media is definitely not the problem.

Yeah I can deal with it. You know why? because at the end of the day, that also goes with saying that he did not want to take s@%t from uncle Sam. And while I do not entirely agree with how he said it, tama din naman sya.

Ayaw nila pakita buong kwento. Sabi ng mga supporters ni De Lima, half-truth daw is still a lie. Well there you go! Nagmura si Duterte, but it is way of a stretch na ihe-headline nila tinawag ni Duterte si Obama ng p#tang %na.

Lol yang video mo is not even 2 minutes long. The exchange and Duterte's response was longer than that. Kulang kasi nasa video mo eh. Minsan kasi mainam yun binabasa din

http://www.rappler.com/nation/145337-transcript-duterte-obama-human-rights

"I am not beholden to anybody. Iyong mga kolumnista diyan na (Those columnists who say), "Wait until he meets – " Who is he? I am a President of the sovereign state, and we have long ceased to be a colony. I do not have any master, except the Filipino people. Nobody but nobody."

you must be respectful. Do not just throw away questions and statements. Huwag mo akong ganunin (Son of a whore, I'll curse you at that forum. Don't do anything like that to me). Tell that to everybody. Itong mga kolumnista, para ba akong tinatakot. Anak ka ng – umalis kayo diyan sa Pilipinas, pumunta kayo doon sa Amerika (These columnists, it's like they're threatening me. Son of a – leave the Philippines, go to America). You write kung ano sa ’yo (whatever you like) – you’re the lapdogs of this American. Who is he to confront me? As a matter of fact, America has one too many to answer for the misdeeds in this country. Hanggang ngayon hindi pa tayo nakatikim ng apology niyan (Up to this day, we have not received any apology from them). That is the reason why Mindanao continues to boil.

Ayuuuuun. At tsaka di pa ba malinaw? Yun p#tang %na it was more of a sporadic expression lang. Kinda like when you say "p#tang %na, traffic nanaman!?". Or pano kng instead na p#tang %na sinabi nya, leche, or s@%t, or god damn it. lol!

Anyway, marunong ka naman managalog at magenglish. However you twist this one, malinaw na he did not call Obama a Son of a whore gaya nung nilagay sa headline ng ABS-CBN.

Ayos ba parekoy?

DOLE launches hotline for labor-related problems

http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/580327/news/nation/dole-launches-hotline-for-labor-related-problems?utm_source=GMANews&utm_medium=Facebook&utm_campaign=GMANewsFacebook

"You can call us for anything.

Domestic workers may call 1800-8888-1349 while international callers may use 800-8888-1349 for toll-free calls. Overseas callers may also call collect to avoid any fees.

Housed at the fourth floor of the DOLE building, the hotline facility will have 10 DOLE employees working per shift to ensure 24-hour support to callers whose calls will be tracked through an e-Recording and e-Tracking management system.

The DOLE 24/7 Hotline was established in response to President Rodrigo Duterte's order to all government agencies to create a hotline system to "communicate its services and program to their publics".

Bello expects OFWs to use the hotline the most due to the oil crisis in Saudi Arabia.

Tsk tsk tsk tsk. Marunong ba yan sila managalog? So when you make headlines like "Duterte calls Obama a son of a whore", kahit hindi naman ganun pagkakasabi, napipick up ito ng western media at nagkakaroon ng maling interpretation ng balita. As if yun mga local media outlets natin di man lang nagresearch kung ano ba ibig sabihin ng genocide at crimes against humanity. Araw araw po me namamatay na Kriminal, that is for sure.

Anong ihihinanakit namin? Hindi po eleksyon ang pinaguusapan dito. Ayan naman eh taken out of proper context. On the other hand, pag same formula ng pagdiscredit gagamitin sa pinapaboran nyong mga pulitiko, eto lagi copout nyo.

Peace!

‘Liberal America’ writer: Duterte cussing not directed at Obama

In the United States, an independent group dissected an accurate transcript of President Duterte’s Q&A with Reuters correspondent Jerome Morales and explained what Duterte said point by point.

‘Liberal America’ writer Nizza Gueco, admittedly not a Duterte fan, was concerned more about the implications of soured US-Philippine relations.

Gueco wrote in a column on the “Liberal America” website, “Lo and behold, my suspicions were true, the line that was cut from the video above wherein the President said “p#tang$na” was not even directed to President Obama, it was directed to the reporter who, according to the President, 'just threw questions and statements.'"

In a news release, the Philippine Office of the President said: "Presidents Duterte and Obama will be seated next to each other, which expectedly, will focus all cameras on them to deliver to the world the encounter of the two. Incidentally, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is also seated on the other side of President Duterte."

The gala dinner, hosted by Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, is taking place from 8 to 10 pm on Wednesday.

You said the reporter was being a lap dog of America. I don't know if we read the same transcript, but the quotes below are taken from the Malacanan press office official transcript:

Q: Sir, there have been concerns on extrajudicial killings, Sir, and you will meet leaders. Any line of communication that we have prepared to address this issue in front of other foreign leaders?

Duterte: Extrajudicial killings?

Q: Yes, human rights.

Duterte: To whom shall I address myself to and who will be asking the questions, may I know?

Q: Like Obama, Sir.

-- And this is were Duterte's tirade starts --

It seemed like a legitimate question to raise. The reporter didn't even bring up America or Obama, until Duterte asked. It is actually common knowledge (or at least to reporters who follow international relations, and to anyone who reads news from foreign media and not just local "yellow" press) that Obama had already previously mentioned that he would be bringing up that issue if and when he meets with Duterte. The reporter was actually showing awareness of goings-on related to the ASEAN summit by asking that question and when pressed by Duterte, by relating it to Obama. That's not being a lap dog, that's being a reporter.

You seem like a reasonably educated person, so you should understand that this is a straw man (with the added bonus of an ad hominem). Sure, the US likes to push its weight around and meddle in the affairs of other countries, but does that make Human Rights Violations or Extrajudicial Killings right?

Just because the US has its fair share of HRVs, doesn't mean it can't call another country out for not acting on or preventing the increase of HRVs or EJKs. It's like saying an acknowledged philandering womanizer can't call an unmarried woman immoral for having a boyfriend. Oops, wait. I think I remember something like that happened a few weeks ago.

Sure, he probably didn't swear at Obama. But it does seem like he threatened to curse Obama in this quote from the same transcript:

It doesn't seem addressed to the reporter. "Dyan sa forum na iyan." Was Duterte expecting that same reporter to ask him pointed questions at the upcoming forum (ASEAN summit)? Was that reporter even going to be at the ASEAN summit? Seems quite a stretch to think that this was directed at the reporter.

But here's the kicker (hehe). I wonder if we read the same transcript, but this seems very direct:

Duterte may or may not have directly cursed Obama, but it looks like he just insulted the entire United States of America.

The president wanted the question to be specific. No need to overcomplicate this out of its intended proportion.

Long and the short is, respect that we are a sovereign nation. Ano ba tayo? Kaalyado o utusan?

There you go! He did not! It makes all the difference. Threatening to cuss is not the same as acutaly cussing the president of the US. That's where the buck stops.

Sana ang naging headline "Duterte threatens to cuss Obama or Anyone (kasi yun din naman sabi nya, kahit na sino daw) if asked offensive questions about EJK". Di balanse at totoo. A headline that reads "Duterte called Obama a son of a bitch", is irresponsible journalism.

Yun naman sisipain ang Amerika, that is an obvious figure of speech.
