pulot lang..

Your first mistake was to call us stupid. Your second was to underestimate how many of us there are in our country.

We - the people you call ‘DUTERTARDS’ - come from all walks of life. Many of us are professionals: doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers among many others. Many of us are from the provinces, but there are also many of us in Metro Manila - or living and working abroad. Contrary to your belief, we are not ignoramuses who believe every word that comes out of Mocha Uson’s blog. Contrary to your presumptions, we do not see the president as an infallible god.

What we have in common is our love for the country, our frustration over the way things have been in the government, and our hope that with better - stronger - leadership, change is possible.

Did we wince when he made that infamous rape joke? Yes of course. And so too, did we cringe at his cursing Pope Francis. But for all his faults, Duterte was not self-righteous. He owned up to his mistakes, and we accepted him for who he is. It was not that joking about women wasn’t bad, but actually betraying our country’s interests was much worse. The national and international media, we felt, was quick to highlight his faults and provoke him into saying scandalous remarks - even as they were slow to point out his sensible - even revolutionary - statements. Tired of being told what to think by the media, the Church, and the so-called “civil society”, we gravitated towards Digong.

What we are tired of are those, self proclaimed "decency and self righteous politicians who proved nothing during their time in the government. We don't hate Pnoy, in fact we are thankful for some improvements he has done. But we are not also blind to all his shortcomings and negligence.

Our SENTIMENTS ARE SHARED BY THE MAJORITY OF THE FILIPINOS

Pakamatay kayo!

Duterte gets broad support for drug war

http://news.mb.com.ph/2017/09/23/duterte-gets-broad-support-for-drug-war/

By Bloomberg

More than three-quarters of Filipinos support President Duterte’s drug war, despite thousands of deaths and international condemnation over alleged rights abuses, a Pew Research Center poll has found.

Some 78 percent of Filipinos approve of Duterte’s handling of the illegal drugs issue, with 62 percent believing the government’s campaign was making progress, according to Pew’s face-to-face surveys of 1,000 adults. The president also remained extremely popular a year after his election, with 86 percent saying they had a favorable view of him, a result in line with domestic surveys. The poll had a margin of error of 4.3 percent.

The survey – conducted between Feb. 26 and May 8 – predates some recent controversies over Duterte’s administration, including his declaration of martial law on the southern island of Mindanao and drug-smuggling accusations against his son. Thousands joined protests in Manila and Quezon City on Thursday to mark the anniversary of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos’s martial law declaration 45 years ago.

Duterte spokesman Ernesto Abella reiterated the president had no plan to expand military rule beyond Mindanao, where the government has battled Islamist militants. The state “recognizes the fear and indignation of the people against a repetition and perpetuation of such human rights violations,” Duterte said, referring to Marcos’ decade-long martial rule, in a proclamation suspending government work Thursday.

Drug war

Since taking office in June 2016, Duterte has waged a war on illegal drugs that has been condemned by the United Nations, the European Union, and human rights advocates. While Duterte administration officials place total deaths at more than 3,400 as of July 26, Human Rights Watch estimated earlier this year that more than 7,000 people had been killed, including at least three mayors.

The survey also found that 78 percent of Filipinos believed that the current economic situation was good, while 57 said they were satisfied with the direction of the country. That was a 21 percentage-point increase from the last time Pew asked the question in 2014.

The survey found a decline in the Philippines’ long-standing support for its key treaty ally, the US Duterte clashed with the administration of former President Barack Obama and has tilted toward China in pursuit of an “independent foreign policy.”

Some 78 percent surveyed held a positive view of the US, compared with 92 percent who expressed such sentiments two years ago. The share with a positive view of China climbed one percentage point to 55 percent.

Still, Filipinos expressed less confidence in current President Donald Trump than Obama. Some 69 percent of those surveyed trusted Trump “to do the right thing in world affairs,” compared with 94 percent who expressed such confidence in Obama in 2015.

The poll doesn’t account for Trump’s subsequent praise of Duterte, saying he was “doing a great job” and inviting him to the White House.

Three-quarters of people agreed that having US military personnel in the Philippines was a good thing for the country, while 68 percent said they assumed the US would use military force to defend their country from China.

Superstar speaks: Give Duterte space to run the Philippines

http://www.manilatimes.net/superstar-speaks-give-duterte-space-run-philippines/352300/

In resonant words that clearly showed what she thinks and where US foreign policy is going, Haley told the UN General Assembly and international human rights organizations:

The Philippines is suffocating. We must give President Duterte the space to run his nation. We must respect their independence … It is not in our purview to decide administrative issues for the Philippines…

“That is the job of the president.”

Haley elaborated: “Destructive forces have never given the Duterte administration enough space to jump-start his programs of government; they did not even afford him the proverbial honeymoon period…. Now, they have calibrated their plot to ouster movements and this is just the second year of his presidency.”

She called on human rights groups (the UN’s included) to be impartial and not take political sides while dispensing their duties in any particular nation.

"President Duterte was indubitably right in steering Philippine foreign policy towards closer relations with China, Russia, Asean, while taking care to forge strong relations with the US.

These developments invest added significance to the coming Asean leaders’ summit in November, which the country will host and where the US, China, and Russia, and other major nations will be in attendance.

The Philippines is destined to become a bigger player in international affairs, commensurate to its size and impressive growth."

Anti-Duterte just can't figure out how the majority of Filipinos can take Duterte's seeming inconsistencies in his statements, dirty mouth, alleged lies.

PEW survey report explains why. To anti-Duterte yellowtards, google the report and find out for yourselves.
