ganjaman318
our butts have been so many times...we really need to cut politics in our system not only in basketball but for the whole sports.. no argument there...there are still some people out there who want to f#&k up the basketball program because they aren't handling it na... it's a f#&king power trip for some assholes kasi... amante
itong team n lang ang padala sa olympics sa 2016 sa rio de janeiro, he hehehindi malayong mangyari un, esp kung successful nga ang Gilas quintetbaka ung U16 ang maging development team para sa ng Gilas team Quote Link to comment
peithe
see it this way ... Gilas is the seniors national team while the U-16 is the juniors national team that would vie for a slot in the U-17 championship. eventually tatanda ang mga "juniors" so if they are really good next step for them is to be drafted to join the seniors squad. rakizta
our opponents on U-16 dont have naturalize player that's why we've been able to compete well on the said division No match naman talaga yan once na pure blooded lang talaga line-up na pinapadala ng kalaban natin kung baga may laban ika nga Quote Link to comment
tatang1972
To be competitive we had to adopt to this trend. We have to admit na kulang tayo talaga sa height Quote Link to comment
Morley
just wondering, wala bang anak na player sila EJ Feihl? or any other sons of former legit big men from the PBA? Quote Link to comment
WILBURATZ
^Meron na. 10 years old na yata. Ang laki pa. Mga 5'4" na. Kaso babae. At nasa Australia. Quote Link to comment
Agent_mulder
just wondering, wala bang anak na player sila EJ Feihl? or any other sons of former legit big men from the PBA? Anak ni ex-PBA player Alvin Teng 'yung Jeron Teng na naglalaro sa Nokia U16 at me isang player na Ravena ang surname most probably anak (o maybe even related kay Bong Ravena 'to). Kung may anak na si Feihl sana makuha ang height n'ya pero 'wag ang skills or lack of it at sana 'wag din makuha ang kabagalan ni EJ.. Quote Link to comment
complicated8
Si Balingit meron na ba under 16 na anak? How about Marlou? Quote Link to comment

catsumhoto
RP nokia just dispose of jordan and enter the crossover semi facing who else but powerhouse china which in turn demolish japan.... iran is going to play korea for the other crossover semis.... whoever comes up winnin will qualify for the world u-17 finals next year... gud luck to our okia team and a lots of prayers needed for them to surpass china.... well bad at all.... catsumhoto
i've been following the fiba u16 tournament and it seems that we can be competitive at this level with the rest of asia except maybe CHIna which incidentally is very very scary.... they beat both japan and korea by more than a mile.... imagine they almost double the score of their opponent in both instant... the reason why i following the u-16 is to gauge the accomplishment sbp program with phil basketball... by the look of it all the teams that played in this tournament will be the same, maybe a little change over there or here, team that our national squad will face in the future.... and by that time some of our opponent will grow a couple of inches more.... (nasa genes kasi nla being matangkad) you cant teach height but you can teach a tall guy to run shoot jump set up screen which is all we had.... sad reality of basketball.... we can hear praises from other countries that we are talented but basketball is still a game of height... it is very seldom we see players that are small winning mvp award...usually the forward or the center gets the big one.... maybe a cool seventy percent goes to the big guy..... catsumhoto
rp nokia u 16 lossto china although they fought gallantly.... they even lead in the first quarter.. however height is might and the rp boys just lost out in the final two quarters.... well anyway one consolation is that they will be gunning for third place against the loser of iran and korea game.... catsumhoto
its korea vs cina in the finals and both team automatically qualified for next years world championship.. rp will face iran for the fourth time this month for third place.. we won twice during a tune up games in cebu but lost to them in this tournament.... hope that the boys will deliver and snatch third place.... catsumhoto
the fiba asia u 16 ended yesterday with china winning over korea... but oth of them qualified for the world u 17 tournament next year... as for our own national team.... well better luck next time as we lost to iranian team and landed fourth.... not bad for an undersized team.... however for us to progress next time we should start growing player... as in literally and figuritively... china has a couple of seven footer on this team their average height is around 6'4" our team mainly led by kifer ravena is 5'9" Quote Link to comment

catsumhoto
we really have to improve with our height.... hehehe sad to sa we being southeast asian are of smaller built.... we are slower cannot jump high enough and are not sprinter compare to other race of the world... look at the euroean, african, yellow race..... they are more athletic than us.... our region even cannot compete at the asian level in sports of running, jumping, even team sports..... japan has recently won the world baseball league... korea and saudi arabia is consistently qualified for the world cup of soccer... as far as southeast asia is concern our pride rest on one man PACQUIAO... you can also include tiger woods being half asian.... but aside from that we don't have much representation in other fields of sports... maybe its our diet.... we should embark on a rigid research and study of our diet... hey our food is one of the best cuisine with bagoong and everything which incidentally all our asean neighbor do have.... CELTS
Jamal Sampson ... is he the right one for GILAS? I guess this is a good topic to revive discussions in this thread. The Guy is big ... plays PF/C. Strong but got limited offensive moves...mOstly close to the basket. If the Team is looking for an interior defender and one that will do the dirty job like rebounding. He could be the one. Edited December 1, 2009 by CELTS Quote Link to comment
