Hindi naman siguro. Marami naman combat sport dyan kung tutuusin pero marami pa din ang nanonood ng boxing. Sabi naman ni Dana White mismo di ba? Hindi naman nila pinapatay ang boxing. You can be a fan of boxing and still appreciate MMA.

 

Siguro kasi, mabilis yung naging kasikatan ng MMA at kumpara sa ibang combat sport dyan ito talaga yung naipasok sa mainstream at PPV. Ganun pa man matagal tagal pa o mahirap bago malampasan ng UFC kasikatan ng boxing.

 

As to mananalo ba ang mga boxingero sa mga mixed martial artists, ang sagot dyan simple lang, anong rules gagamitin. Under MMA rules, pag nawala na yung paa, wala na masyado magagawa yung boxer. Pero under boxing rules, mas sanay syempre yung boxingero mag maniobra sa ibabaw ng ring.

boxing is boxing. mma is mma. there will always be fans of either (or both) sports.

there might be "eras" for each sport depending on personalities on each side, but both are established already and none will fold, in my opinion.

As for boxing, most fans follow 1 or 2 of their favorite fighters. What makes MMA stand out as a sport is that it is continually evolving. The fighters, disciplines, techniques, etc.

But yes, comparing the 2 sports isnt fair. Theyre both combat sports but they are totally different sports. Its like asking which is better, tennis or badminton. At the end of the day the 2 sports have their own niche.

Hmmm I dont know man, somehow Floyd is right by saying boxing is really for everybody, because lets face it, MMA is a more violent sport. Moreover, mas malaki laki pa din revenue ng major boxing events kesa sa UFC.

I am a huge mma fan, but I don't think it will ever take over boxing. Mma is mainly followed by the 18-25 yr old demographic, whereas boxing is watched mostly by 25+ yr old people. I can't cite my source cause I read it a year ago. And no, as much as I wanna think mma has a bigger fanbase, it does not. Mma is too young, let's give it a few more years.

In retrospect i think this is what i meant when i said MMA has the bigger fan base. Not from a numbers stand point, but more of a true fan of the sport. Lets face it more peoplw will watch boxing, but only when its worth watching. MMA fan watch all fighters. I mean, even when watching a prize fight on tv you can see no one is at the arena watching the undercards. Most of the seats are empty up until the main event. People are they really just to see 1 fight. So the fan base is very different.

Boxing is the 1st thing you learn then kicking then grappling. Its just a process.
