Pussyboy
watched spidey, it was a letdown. dancing is not one of his best traits. give him an A for effort. movie full of quick dumb one liners. ending left me hanging, literally, as with MJ. i thought there would be a referrence to his prof who becomes future foe. spidey 4 perhaps? god no. hehehe Quote Link to comment
clubber_lang
POTC: At World's End is a grandiose way to tie up all the stories. It was actually surprisingly not bad for a third film. Of course, some parts became repetitive such as the double-crosses. Plus, Sao Feng was never truly developed. Just a mere plot device. Overall, the film was a good ride. The performances of the core members were really good, especially Bill Nighy, Geoffrey Rush and Keira Knightley who was the real star of this film. Johnny Depp was still good. I was also entertained by Keith Richards' cameo! Quote Link to comment

Waterbearer
Watching Pirates 3 the second and third time is so much better! Quote Link to comment
Wyld
Pirates of the Carribbean is Keira Knightley's film and theres no doubting it. She was hot in that movie. The movie had a rather slow start but it picked up pretty quick ... the action was good, the twists were surprising and quite excellent. Watching it didnt feel like a ripoff since it was packed to the seams with the stuff that all the Pirates movies were made off - sassy remarks, surprising cameos, swashbuckling action and all that. This movie aims to entertain - and it succeeded. In a grand, big way. It makes no pretensions of being an art film or wanting to change peoples lives or sending a strong message about something. It just wants to tell you a story (that has major holes in it, mind you), give the audience some laughs and just altogether, take everyone on a rollercoaster ride. The last touch of the "surprise ending" was pretty cute too. Methinks there will be a 4th movie .... The Fountain of Youth anyone? Edited May 28, 2007 by Wyld Quote Link to comment
clubber_lang
Something I noticed: IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE KEIRA KNIGHTLEY NOT LOOK HOT? There were scenes she seemed dirty yet she was still smoking!!! A good way to end but a deeply flawed movie. A thrill ride, that's all. Nothing to gain here but eye candy... which is good from time to time!!! Quote Link to comment

I don't think so.. there won't be a part 4 on this because they showed the "ending" as jumping to ten years later. by that time Jack should have found the fountain. More likely there would be a spinoff from this movie. Saw the movie yesterday. Plenty of laughs and generally an adventure film; from Singapore, the high seas, to the ends of the world! clubber_lang
Saw Ocean's Thirteen last night: It was way, way better than Ocean's Twelve but falls short of equaling the first film. Maybe because back then, seeing them all working together was a freah idea. Good: The plot was actually great since it was no longer a heist job but rather a revenge film. The jokes were quite hilarious. Bad: Al Pacino and even Bernie Mac were not really interesting at all. Ellen Barkin never looked hot here. And one past villain not named Andy Garcia was unnecessary. Still, quite an entertaining film despite a few flaws... Quote Link to comment
boibastos
I was mildly disappointed with the third installment of the Pirates series. The action and shots were savage and/or pretty enough but it distinctly lacked that fun element that was so prevalent in the first two movies, especially the second. Basically, I found that World's End took itself a little too seriously; it seemed more focused on tying up and resolving the series in a neat package and moved away from the unpredictability and humor that was a hallmark of the series. From the very beginning, Pirates for me was all about Sparrow and Barbosa. The insanity of these two kind of fed off each other and sucked us in to a vortex of 2-3 hours of dirty, unadulterated buccaneer fun (I could not be more impressed with Depp for practically pulling this off solo in the second movie). When I saw the trailer for the third, I kind of thought that Chow Yun Fat would've thrown in his own brand of reckless abandon into the mix that so marked his hong kong movies. Sadly, Sao Feng was sacrificed on the altar of one-dimensional characters to make way for conflict resolution. I suppose producers wanted things wrapped up this time around to avoid a dragging storyline, but I felt it could have been much better with less "you all know I get the girl in the end" Turner , "wonder woman" Swann and "love-struck octopus" Davy Jones scenes and perhaps three million more rock crabs carrying Feng, Sparrow and Barbosa to episodes of hilarious, drunken but responsibly tongue-in-cheek (this is disney, after all) pirate debauchery. Could've been much better but overall, it wasn't bad. 4 out of 5 stars. Edited June 3, 2007 by boibastos Quote Link to comment
dragonei
Pirates of The Carribean 3 Well obviously the makers of this movie wanted to end it with a Bang! a loud Bang that is. But sometimes its not how loud something is that makes it entertaining. Sometimes less is actually more. This time the makers put just a little bit too much of every good thing in an eye candy flick. Too much effects, too much dialouges, too much characters, too much twsts and turns, and too much Captain Jack sparrows that could sometimes make a few moments difficult to sit trough or enjoy. I think the movie had the same problem with Spider-man 3 with having too much characters and subplots. The end result? A pretty messy eye candy.......... But it is nonetheless a very entertaining mess. At least this movie had that "it" factor to make summer movies enjoyable, which spider-man 3 came up short. So here we go (Spoiler warnings) Picking up from where the second movie left, Lord Beckett is after all pirates and has declared martial law, to make matters worse squid-faced captain Davy Jones and his flying dutchman is now under the control of the east india trading company, making every pirate ship on shore an open season for hunting. Meanwhile Capt. Barbosa, Elizabeth Swann, and Will turner must now deice a plan to rescue Capt. Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones' locker with the aid of notorious Pirate Capt. Sao Feng (brilliantly played by chow yun fat). Sao Feng reluctantly agrees to lend a ship and a crew for Barbossa et al. to fetch back wicked jack in an existensial dillema dessert for the dead (Undead?). Apparently Jack has one of the items that the 9 pirate lords need to fight against lord beckett and the flying dutchman. This is the part where the story gets to be a little complicated. Every character has his own intention, own secrets, and own means to an end. Will Turner, and Elizabeths schwanns love for each other is put to the test as they reveal secrets. Everybodys loyalty honor and friendship will be put to the test once jack is rescued from the land of the undead. Wait there is more... Apparently some people are playing both sides, and this is the part where the story gets just a little bit more and more complicated. Too much motives for betrayal and double crosses, that at one point its really hard to tell which character is on which side since all of them have their own intents to something. Moreso, its difficult to tell sometimes which ship we are in. Then its off to the Pirate cove, where the meeting of the pirate lords will take place. Here they will decide how to defend the fate of the bretheren, and Elizabeth Swann will become Pirate king (as she was made captain by sao feng shortly before his death). There is a brief Cameo of Rollingstone member Kieth Richards as Jack's father, and man oh man does he fit the part. So its off to the last stand of the bretheren against Becketts armada led by the flying dutch man. And at this point all is smooth sailing. Its action, swashbuckling action, and more swashbuckling action....... oh did I mention swashbuckling action? The square off between the balckpearl and the flying dutchman in the middle of a whirlpool is something we will be talking about for months. This is what summer movies are all about. All in all it is an enjoyable treat, and whatever weakness or incoherence in the script are compensated with outstanding action sequences, swashbuckling heroes and great performances. Specially by Johnny Depp. Definetly Jack Sparrow is the character that he will be remembered for. Do we want to see a fourth installment or a spinoff? Well I don't think it will ever be the same without Johnny Depp in it! Yes Johnny Depp! Oh that Johnny Depp Oh did I mention Kieth Richards? A- Quote Link to comment

jologsparin
Seiko's "Silip" has been touted as the return of the bold film genre. Don't believe the hype. If you're expecting Diana and Francine to outdo their sexy scenes in "Liberated," you'll be extremely disappointed. There are mini-second shots of their physical assets but there's not much to see. Paolo Ravales does bare his butt but it didn't turn me on. The producer wanted a mild R-13 rating for "Silip,"so it can show in SM cinemas. Wrong move, I think because male viewers will end up disappointed after the movie. My friend who came to see it with me commented, "ni hindi ako tinigasan." If Robbie Tan had gone for an R-18 rating and got Diana and Francine to do what they do best, he would have sold more tickets even if the movie did not screen at SM theaters. I must congratulate Diana Zubiri though for doing a fine acting job. Director Joel Lamangan was able to get her to give a convincing portrayal of a disturbed probinsyana housewife. In previous movies, Diana didn't have to do much acting because her body did all the acting for her. In "Silip" she shows great potential as a dramatic actress. Of course, she shouldn't abandon sexy roles altogether. She's still one of the sexiest actresses around. Edited June 7, 2007 by jologsparin Quote Link to comment
