Traffic Problem In Metro Manila (Merged Thread)

Recommended Posts

Bawasan natin ang mga kotse, at dagdagan ng maraming tren, Pwede ring ilagay under the govt ang public transportation na may stricter rules (yun nga lang, maraming mahihirap ang maaapektuhan like tricycle, jeepney, taxi drivers, etc) Im sure mababawasan ng husto ang traffic.

Pedicabs, Tricycles, and Jeepneys are the most inefficient modes of transports for cities and large townships. They should be taken off the city streets and national highways.

They should be replaced by buses and trains.

The tricycles and jeepneys should be sent to remote barangays and towns in the provincial rural areas. And do not allow pedicabs as means of commercial transport other than as a tourist attraction.

Tricycles are best used to transport agricultural produce and people from farms to trading posts, while jeepneys are best used to transport the agri products from trading posts to towns. Truck haulers then take over the transport from town terminals to urban centers and industrial processing centers.

Transformation also has to come from the jeepney drivers' attitude on the road like stopping in the middle of the road. It's not in the aesthetics, it's in the attitude.

If you notice the design, it forces the driver to stop close to the curb and open the doors when loading and unloading passengers.

The old design with open door at the rear allows passengers to jump on of off even in the middle of the lane.

Driver and passenger behavior can be influenced by the design.

If you notice the seat design, it allows passengers to lift up the seats so they can lean on the seats (half-standing) to allow more room to standing passengers when the PUV is full.

Passenger's courteous behavior can be influenced by the design.

Kahit i modernize niyo ang buses and jeepneys, kung ganun pa din ang sistema (yun boundary system and witing for the PUV to be filled with people before traveling), you will always have an inefficient public transport that will likely cause traffic.

Drivers of these public transports should be given a monthly wage instead of commissions.

If i am not mistaken i believe that is the plan. In fact one needs to have at least 10 units in order to be given a franchise so mawawala na yun mga maliliit na operators na sila mismo ang nagmamayari at namamasada ng jeep nila unless maybe they unite and form a cooperative to circumvent this.

^ I don't think it will be suitable to some roads in the province.

That design is NOT for provincial use.

It's to replace the old-style jeepneys in the metropolis.

The old jeepneys in Metro Manila should be sent to the provinces and replaced in Manila with the new designs like this one I posted.

Beep card ata gagamitin dito. One time nawalan ako ng3 or 4k sa mandurukot, di ko napansin dahil galing ako sa night shift Edited by Joblow

Bukod pa dyan, isa ata sa point ng modernization ay hindi pwede bumiyahe yun jeep unless may minimum number of passengers sya (correct me if i am wrong).

Again, this type of process is what actually causes traffic problems as the jeeps would stop just about everywhere just to fill it to capacity.

implement traffic rules first and implement a very good transport system.

otherwise this government sound like an agent selling for the big car manufacturers.

Then tsaka unti-unti i offer sa mga jeeps on a voluntary basis.

Kung talagang gusto nila i pwersa ang beep card, inahin nila sa mga Buses (yun nga lang mawawalan ng trabaho mga konduktor... pero in my opinion pagulo lang naman mga yun since siksikan na nga sa bus nakikisiksik pa para makasingil).
