Kaya nga, bobo lang ang maniniwala sa pinagsasabi ni Roxas na progresso daw ibig sabihin paglala ng traffic. Ang ibig sabihin nyan, patuloy lang ang pagdami ng tao sa Metro Manila. Pano? Anong maayos na oportunidad ba meron sa mga probinsya? Ultimo pinakamagagaling na lang na Unibersidad at Ospital laging nasa Manila. Yung business capital nasa Manila. Lampas na sa tinatawag na "carrying capacity" ang kaMaynilaan kaya lumalala na traffic. The move towards Federalism will be a great step towards this. If we can have other major cities in the Philippines where it can also offer not just the best Job opportunities but as well as Education. If only factories and major businesses can have center of operations in other cities, then hindi lagi dadagsa tao sa Maynila. sabi nga 80% ng protein napupunta lang lagi sa Metro Manila Expanding the roads and decentralizing businesses and offices won't happen in the short run. By the time a major highway has been finished or a new building in the province has been erected, maybe 500,000 new vehicles have already been sold and running. 2016 car sales still up year-on-year and the forecast just keeps on rising. With crude oil price ranging 45-50/barrel(still cheap) we can expect lower price tags on vehicles. If car companies could just add more premium on the prices of vehicles to lessen the demand, but that ain't happening either. The Ayalas(Honda and Isuzu), George Ty of MBT(Toyota) and Gokongweis(Mitsubishi?) don't care about sustainability, all they see is profit, maybe they can claim that their buildings or factories are "green." As long as construction of fixed assets are involved in the solution, do not expect for a quick fix in the near future. Yes, these two proposals are what I've been advocating ever since. These two complement each other and will cover short-term to long-term time horizons. Anyway, the only solution left is for the improvement of mass transportation. I hope the additional MRT would service enough passengers, but it's hard to imagine. And consumers, you may want to limit the purchase of vehicles. For a family, 2 cars would suffice, might as well ride a dilapidated bus going to work and just doze off hahaha Mass transpo must be improved to alleviate traffic in the short-term. But I wouldn't count on MRT/LRT anymore for future public transportation systems. A better proposal is to go for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to cover other major traffic arteries in Metro Manila. Compared to train, this is a lot simpler and cheaper to construct - no digging, no excavating, no rail tracks and electrical wiring to be laid down, no trains to maintain. Just buses on dedicated lanes. Of course, with this, BRT will be easier and less costlier to maintain vs trains. And will be easier to deploy. Urban planning experts like Jun Palafox have a lot of very good ideas but nothing happened. He also rejected the admin's solution of knee-jerked "more and more roads" as a solution to traffic. Kung tutuusin ok naman ang MRT/LRT natin ang problema "sobra" talaga ang dami ng commuters dito sa Metro Manila kaya madaling bumigay mga tren na iyan. Dapat mga 15-30 minutes ang pagitan ng tren eh dahil sa dami ng pasahero eh di kakayanin kaya ayun overuse mga tren na iyan. Quote Link to comment

Dapat mga 15-30 minutes ang pagitan ng tren eh dahil sa dami ng pasahero eh di kakayanin kaya ayun overuse mga tren na iyan.Sa Singapore, 2-3 minutes lang ang pagitan ng MRT. Ang tanong, willing naman ba magbayad ng mas mataas kaysa sa current min. rate? In singapore min fare is S$0.78 for japan ¥140 i think. Sa Singapore mas maraming coaches per train, kasing haba ng loading bay ang mga train. Dito sa atin, kalahati lang ng loading bay ang haba ng tren. They have more train coaches and comes in at shorter intervals. That's why hindi napupuno ng husto, hindi naoover-stress. Our MRT were given the budget to buy more coaches, but what did Abaya, Mar, and Vitangcol do? They tried to extort money from the Czech supplier so the deal fell through. Tapos bumili sila ng made in China coaches. Mas mura daw, Pero anong nangyari kaya sa savings? Pinambili ng boto nung eleksyon? Pupusta pa ako, di tatagal ng 2 yrs yung Made In China train coaches. They are paying more than that to UV Express vans, which is not as efficient nor as comfortable as a properly loaded MRT train. Me nagreklamo ba na sobrang mahal maningil ang UV Express? Yun ngang mga tricycle mas mahal pa sumingil, di naman sulit ang serbisyo. Me nagreklamo ba? Tanga lang talaga si Abnoy at Mar. They should have used their political capital to rationalize the MRT fares. Raise the fares to make the system self financing and efficient. But they didn't. Misteryotao Posted May 24, 2016 Share Posted May 24, 2016 The problem with the MRT/LRT system is that fares is being subsidize by the government. Instead paying the proper fare, government is partially paying the fare for the people. Compounded the years these system have operated has left them with minimal funds to maintain and improve the system.As to the overflowing number of passengers. I think the problem lies with the lack of infrastructure. If we add more transit lines, people will disperse to other stations. Problem is Manila has a population of at least 12M. Imagine that Metro Manila has four transit lines versus the population of 12M. I'm not even counting the people who lived outside Manila but daily goes into Manila for their jobs. Metro Manila is densely populated and we are feeling the effects overcrowded. But i don't see that as the biggest problem to transportation. We have cities that is similarly densely populated like Seoul, that has no public transportation problems. Mainly because South Korea has invested on infastructure. Numerous subway station has kept the city transportation much less of a problem. Tokyo is not as dense as ours. But i know for a fact that there are more people who come in Tokyo for their work. But transportation has never been an issue for them.These traffic woes can be remedied if the government starts investing on transit lines more. Instead of roads, we should focus more on transit lines. Quote Link to comment

Unang una dagdag traffic yan habang ginagawa. Eh karamihan ng pinoy reklamador. Pansariling interest kasi kaysa kapakanan ng bayan at nakakarami. Tulad din yan ng mrt/lrt fares. Kung sa simula pa lamang naipatupad yun unti unting pagtanggal ng subsidy para maging self sustaining yan eh malamang hindi hahantong sa ganito.
