Credit Card Talk

Recommended Posts

Hi, let me know if they gave in or not, ako naman May of 2008 ako ma charge for the membership fee, 3years na ata ako member ng ciitbank, never pang na waive annual fee ko. P1,200 din eto, sayang naman. mga bills ko naman sa kanila paid ng full each month, there was a time nga na umabot pa sa 25k ang utang ko sa kanila. ayaw ko naman sana pa close ang citibank ko because medyo malaki ang credit limit na binigay nila...

nope! they did not waive the annual fee for my citibank shell gold card, they say dami na raw benefits yung shell kaya hindi pwde waive annual fee so yon! i closed it na! to think i pay each month in full! forced them to send a manager's check for the rebates i got from them worth 82 pesos, ayaw pa nga nila send eh kaya i asked for a supervisor, they'd rather na ako may utang sa kanila kesa sila may utang sa akin! good riddens sa citibank!

ganun ba sayang naman un.., sa akin naman i'm not sure pa rin if i'll stick with citibank, malaki kasi yung credit limit ng citibank compared to my hsbc, and sa hsbc naman parang nde ako puwede mag bayad ng mga utility bills. parang ang kaunti lang ng options, sa citibank kasi medyo marami..

tanong ko lang...how does credit card refund work? I made an airline ticket purchase using my card but I had to cancel the flight. The airline said that they will refund the amount directly to my card after 60 working days. how does that work? does it mean that the cc company will pay me instead of me paying them? or will it just be balanced with any outstanding or future use? what it I currently do not have any outstanding balance?

This happened 2 years ago na ata..

I used to have a citibank gold credit card until somebody hacked my account and did a cash advance amounting to 60,000 pesos. (First withdrawal was 40,000 then another 20,000 the next day...as reflected to my billing statement.)

I dunno how it happened knowing that the card is in my possession.

I reported it to the bank but they didnt do anything about it kasi, according to them, its impossible daw to happen so they still charged it to me.

I didnt have any choice so I fully paid it so as not to be blocklisted. After that I decided to cut my account with them.

And yeah, someone told me that some "inside job" is happening at Citi...they sell daw credit card accounts to syndicates in exchange of a big amount.

I dunno if its true, pero ingat na lang.

i don't know how to say this but it seems to me lika a lot of cock and bull..... why would you be paying for something that you didnt borrow?

dito sa us in a period of one year naging 3 na credit cards ko. chase, household bank w/c is hsbc here, atsaka capital one. usually bibigay nila sa yong credit limit nasa 300 or 500 pagka nakapagbayad ka on time tinataas nila ung credit limit mo to $800. well plano ko lang pagandahin ko credit history ko kaya ako kumuha ng credit card. para makatipid ka wag mong dalhin ang credit card mo leave it at home. use it when you only need it.

the refund will just reflect in your statement like a negative charge. if you don't have any outstanding balance, you will end up with a credit balance which you can use to offset any future purchases. i never tried to actually get a credit back as money though. bad trip lang talaga that it takes so long for the credit to reflect back into your card. once, the airline company was the one who cancelled my flight, but it still took more than 60 days to get the refund to appear on my statement.

a bit off topic...between HSBC and BPI, which would be a better choice?

chong hindi tlga alam ng metrobank kung fraud o hindi ...because when someone buys merchandises from the net...it doesnt go directly to the banks system but through online credit card processors like CCBILL,OAKBILL, etc

ung mga online credit card processors will then foward it to the bank

I would suggest HSBC than BPI. HSBC has more payment center, lower annual fee (and it can easily be waived), and many establishments worldwide offering discounts when using HSBC cards. I think BPI is more strict when giving credit limit so their limit is much lower compared to HSBC and they have higher annual fee (only half of the annual fee can be waived).

i agree, especially if we are talking about cebu pacific here. i once cancelled a flight i booked online and the customer service people told me to wait since the company will just refund it in my credit card.

they did- after 7 months. :thumbsdownsmiley:

The best thing is to initially call your credit card to report that your card has been compromised..... Secondly write a 'dispute' letter to contest the said charges. They usually will investigate the matter immediately.... Better call them immediately to cancel your existing card.

^ That is so weird.. I really don't understand how the credit limit system works for these card companies..

Standard Chartered also sent me a Gold Credit Card.. Limit is Php90K.. I already have their regular issued cards whose limit is a combined Php90K.. Ang nakakatawa is that I have an HSBC regular card with a limit of Php120K..

BTW, I heard that our government is checking on the interest rates/charges that are being implemented by credit card companies in the PI.. I hope they will be able to lower down the interest rates and change the current system.. Credit cards have become burdensome because of high interest rates rather than a source of "help" to people.. I usually pay all the balances of my credit cards and just buy stuff that I know that I can pay fully every month (at suki ako ng mga amortized big purchases - either with interest or 0%).. But sadly, not a lot of people have the same mindset that I have.. A lot of people buy stuff that they can't pay in full..

Its just a matter of being wise.. You can't let these companies be wiser than you or else you will be burdened with debts that have ballooned to alarming amounts because of "usurious" rates.. I hope our government does something about this..
