Im a Pacquiao fan but when I saw the pay per view main event video, clearly, nilaglag ni dela joya ang laban niya. from round 2 to 8. I quote " You have to throw some punches or this game is finish". Panoorin nyo yung main event video ung walang commercial.

I could not see any logical reason why he would do that. What for?

He has got more money than manny pacquiao. He promoted this fight and got a bigger slice in the cake for being in it. So the angle of ODLH being paid to take the dive is out. I mean who would pay him to do that. Not only is he the highest paid boxer of all time but he is a sucessful promoter.

Why on earth would he subject himself trough all that physical punishment, and be humiliated around the world? What logical explanation would that be? He would risk ruining his reputation and not to mention law suits if he actually did something like that. What kind of an idiot would make such risk? Whats worth all that for a hall of famer like him.

True OLDH should somehow deserve criticism for his luckluster performance but consider the following

1.) He was going down weight, and its easier for a fighter to go down wieght than to go upweight. You can tell during the weigh in that he was dry as a dessert stone

2.) Manny was awesomely blinding fast. I have seen all MPs recent fight, and he gets faster and faster with each of them. He has not been this fast in the previous fights. The way I see it manny gets better everytime. and it was simply a good move for him to go upweight as he was already having problems staying at 130.

3.) OLDH was simply confused. I mean he did not have a correct strategy. His plan was to use his reach advange by fending his opponent with stiff jabs and moving forward. Smartly manny circles on his left where he could not make that straight line. ODLH did not expect that

4.) Boxing is also a psychological game kung mapapansin nyo, nangigigil na si OLDH kay manny on some later rounds kasi di nya manuetralize yung bilis nya

5.) Simply putting it his time was up. I mean oldh is a great fighter. He has nothing to be ashamed of 10 time world champion, and the highest paid boxer in the sport ever. But he was not as fast and as strong as he used to be

All boxer's will eventually erode in time. The fights take a toll on you. This will surely happen to manny also, unless he chooses to quit while he is ahead.

Al Mendoza was PDI's sports editor ages ago...lahat ng spot sa sports page nun for sale - sa kanya magbabayad hindi sa PDI...kaya siguro ngayon tingin niya sa lahat FOR SALE PA DIN!

OT

we were handling the motorsports pr of Caltex that time - Al mendoza sold his soul to Shell that time kaya kahit na nilalampaso ni Glen Aguilar si Jovie saulog and Jody Coseteng was lording it over his rivals in PNTCC e hindi kami makapasok sa PDI sports section.

His last few opponents are either aging or over the hill or past their prime. 35 for a boxer is like 55 for a corporate employee - near retirement. Why doesn't Manny fight with someone his age or in the proximity of his age or perhaps younger fighters? He is becoming a bully of aging boxers. Capitalizing on defeating somebody with a long track record but already past prime is not an accomplishment. It is only self-glorification to the chagrin of aging boxers who are trying to make a last hurrah before bowing out. Ricky Hatton is a wee bit older than Pacman and is looking forward to a fight. Why is Pacman quiet about this? Or is he going to pick on a retired Floyd Mayweather Jr?

lol you don't follow boxing too much do you?

Pacman fought all of his opponents at their prime

the first time he fought Barrera, MAB just came off a stunning victory over Prince Naseem Hamed, who was undefeated and was a huge media sensation. MAB also just came off a FOTY type bout with Erik Morales that was deemed a classic. At that point in time, nobody picked Manny to win, simply because MAB was a living legend.

Barrera, Morales, Marquez were all considered the triple crown of the lower weight classes, at the time no one thought that they could be beat and that all the money fights would just revolve around these three. Pacman destroyed them all.

Diaz was a young buck at the peak of his career. He had just won the lightweight title prior to getting tooled by Pacquiao.

Same goes for Ricky Hatton, a contender at the top of his game.

Also, Mayweather didn't retire because he was old, he turns 31 next year, Manny turns 30 on the 17th. He retired to avoid fighting Cotto, and go out on top with an unblemished record.

Get your facts straight.

Guys guys guys,

Ang boxing talagang ganyan. Every fighter will have his skills erroded in time. Least you could do is stay there for a while. Long enough for you to establish a legacy. Matalo ka man ng sunod sunod sa mga laban mo,ang mahalaga hall of famer ka na. That or you quit while you are still ahead.

Si Holyfield sasayangin nya achievments nya by being doged out by younger heavyweights in their prime, because of his delusion that he will be an unidisputed heavyweight champion pa din.

Kumbaga, someone will always come along and end your career. But I do give ODLH credit still. I honestly believe that he won that fight against mayweather, and he did look great against forbes. But right now he is just not good enough to beat a boxer in his prime like manny pacquiao

And let us give manny the credit he deserves. Many expected de la hoya to win. But he simply fought a very good fight that was too much for oscar. Remember that he did way better than Mayweather against the same opponent.

I really hope mayweather will come out of retirement so that manny can permanently put him back there.

In the mean time lets all sing hatton wonderland

there's only one ricky hatton

there's only one ricky hatton

f#&ked in the ass

raped like a bitch

walking in a hatton wonderland

Oh yeah baby, I just can't wait till pacquiao turns hatton into his personal bitch infront of thousands of british fans

I agree on this

True ODLH was old and all that, but he was not exactly impaired, he could still box. Maybe not as good as his prime but definetly he could still kickass. He did good against mayweather.

Im not ruling out age as a factor here. Sure that took a toll on him

But what really made manny win was his impressive speed, skills, and boxing strategy.

Kasi the moment they do, I assure you magiging sunod sunod na talo niay

HE realized the futility of it all. He tried (in the early rounds). And he got punished for it. Every time he would stick his left jab, Manny comes up with a left lead straight. Repeat that 20 times, and even the dumbest lab rat would learn the lesson. It's all a question of "voltage".

DLH was reduced to defending his bodega and his pretty face (as early as the 5th). He was HURT. His last futile attempt to hit Manny was when he held him by the back of his neck and pummeled him.

By the 7th, Manny had DLH already measured. He had none more to give. Manny could knock him out anytime he wanted. DLH's punches were no longer a threat. The only thing that saved DLH was Manny's reluctance to knock-out "his idol". Freddie Roach had to goad Manny to go for it. Good thing DLH's corner threw in the towel.

so far ang explanation simply, its been a long time bago sya lumaban sa isang southpaw(hector camacho), he dont know what to do during his fight.

sabi ni delahoya his play is to move forward. nacho beristain questioned why delahoya doesnt throw a counter punch. magkaiba kasi ng natural styl si delahoya. si delahoya is nangcocorner then pag nasa maganda na syang position saka sya nagpapakawala ng magandang kumbinasyon. magkaiba si delahoya at marquez.

On December 7, 2008 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas the Dream Match of Manny Pacquiao versus Oscar Dela Hoya surprised millions of people around the world when Manny Pacquiao dominated Oscar Dela Hoya every round of the fight.

On that date it’s not only Dela Hoya is been defeated but also many of limiting beliefs of mediocrity are being knocked down! Big time!

Those are “The Walls of Discrimination” and what these are?

Let me tell to you one by one…

1.) The Wall of Racial Discrimination

I can still remember way back 15 years ago I asked the elders why there is no Filipino go toe to toe with the boxer’s in United Sates of America?

You know what their answer?

Dream on!

And then I did what they requested, I dream that someday there will be a Filipino going to be famous in world of boxing that he will fight to the high caliber boxers and I cant still believe that my dream came true to the “Dream Match” happen on December 7, 2008 of ODLH vs. MP.

Before, way back 90’s if you tell to your friends that it is possible that someday there will be a Filipino boxer who can fight Dela Hoya they might think that you are absolutely fantasying or crazy.

Why?

Because of Racism! It’s sad to know that even some of our fellow Filipino will degrade their own nationality.

For them the race will dictate their future but our Manny Pacquiao destroys that MYTH round by round on his fight against Dela Hoya.

I am rejoicing to the result of the fight not because I am happy when someone gets hurt really bad or because I hate Mexicans. I am so damn happy because of what the message of this fight can show to us, not only to the Filipino, Mexican or American people but for the whole world and to the youth of next generation!

What message is that?

“Irregardless the color of your skin you are free to fulfill your Dream.”

Before the match of MP vs. ODLH, I read a lot of hater’s comments that

MP will be KO in first round by ODLH

It’s unwise decision for MP to take the match against ODLH

MP will not win the fight against ODLH

And they go on…

Behind those comments I know that the main reason why they said that is not actually of ODLH achievements. But the main reason is they are thinking that…

“No way in the History of boxing a Filipino gone that far!”

But I am sorry to tell that the result of the fight is loud and clear that

“Race doesn’t matter!”

The face of Dela Hoya after the match with Pacquiao on December 7, 2008 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas will tell us that…

“We must not measure the man by the color of his skin or where he came from.”

2.) The Wall of “Reality”

People are too attached on reality and that’s why they are unconscious that they are shutting down their dreams little by little. For sure looking to the reality is fine and advisable to do on decision making or planning but the problem here is that when we are too much holding what reality shows us, we don’t realize that

“Reality”

Came from idealism from idea or dream that has no strong basis that it is doable before. Imagine if we still stick on “reality thinking” maybe

We still believe that earth is flat

Maybe we are still using horse for transportation

Maybe we even don’t have internet until today

Not too far on MP vs. OLDH match, before people say’s…

Pacquiao will not win the fight because his too short compare to Dela Hoya

Pacquiao will not win the fight because Dela Hoya is stronger than him

Pacquiao will not win the fight because his fist is smaller than Dela Hoya

All of this comparison is correct and true

But it only shows us that “comparison alone” will not really tell us what will be the result on events.

Mediocrity labeled the word “Impossible” to these fellows before…

Henry Ford the inventor of car, they said that it is impossible to run an engine with only four cylinders but still he pursue his belief and no wonder why we have V8 today.

Lance Armstrong who have a testicular cancer but won the two Tour de France stages.

Wilma Rudolph, woman has“polio” since birth who won three Olympic titles; the 100 m, 200 m and the 4 x 100 m relay.

And may I include Manny Pacquiao’s name by winning the match against one of the hall of famer in the name of boxing. Who is bigger, popular and stronger than him. I know that margin of comparison between Manny and Lance, Wilma or Henry is too far but I still belief that I am hitting the same point that

“Reality will not exactly dictate your capacity”

3.) The Wall of “Stagnant”

Most of people usually say that after winning in the casino games is

“Go home and don’t spend your luck too much, it may run out.”

The boxing sports can compare on gambling, we don’t know what will happen next, like ODLH said…

“What happen in the gym is totally different in the ring” (something like this…)

That’s why people don’t aim too high because they are scared that they may fall too hard to the ground. Before when the match of MP and ODLH is announced in public, people commented and ask why Manny accept that match?

They actually want to say to Pacquiao that; it’s too risky for his career. He already make a good reputation and that reputation may fallen apart if he fight against ODLH which is a sure loss (this is what they think before not until Pacuiao swept Delahoya from Round 1-8)

In short they say “stagnation”

Stay where you are!

Being satisfied on what you have is a good thing to do but when it comes to the point that you are stopping the progress of your life that is bad. Because that is the essence of our life “To Grow”

I think MP realize that his greatness will fade-away someday or someway so instead of playing it safe why he don’t enjoy his greatness to the fullest? Which it payback big time more than what we expect.

Manny Pacquiao shows us that if you want to take your life in the higher level you must also face the highest challenge, no matter how big it is.

As what I said on my other article that

“Being Great is not a joke!”

If we still being satisfied on pay-check to pay-check income and not commit our self to become financially free we will end up a slave forever by our job.

Quitting your job will be a big No-No to most people and focusing full-time to your sidelines; they focus to the failure automatically but imagine if you don’t? If your sideline clicks! And it becomes successful? How wonderful your life will be? Like what Manny did! Instead of giving alibi’s he accept the fight and focus to the brigther side of the event and guess what where he is now?

But I am not talking about just blindly resign to your job and hop-in to the business world without being preferred. Just like Manny Pacquiao when he agreed to the match, he goes to big preparation in order to cope up on that fight.

I remember what Jim Rohn said in some of his seminar tackling about improvement in life that…

“It is easy to climb the ladder than to wait”

Surely Pacquiao did not wait to put his name on the Hall of Famer instead he climbs the ladder and put his name by him self and nobody can disagree on that because he truly deserved it.

4.) The Wall of STATUS

This 4th wall is what always Manny Pacquiao believes every time he goes to a big match In the Philippines where the word “Crab mentality” is at large in everyday lives whether in school, office or business but when we talk about Manny’s Fight everybody is joining forces to support him for his match.

Irregardless if you are rich or poor, it’s like another way of Peoples Power in Edsa.

But in Manny’s Fight is I think more appealing and interesting because not only the Filipino fans in the Philippines are joining forces but also the other Filipinos around the globe is uniting to support Manny.

So in the way of Boxing Pacquiao breaks the “Wall of Status” and only shows us that changes are possible.

5.) The Wall of Doubts

This 5th wall I think will summarize the whole 4 walls, and I believe that this is the biggest wall of all discrimination. People always listen to their doubt rather than their dreams and I hope Manny fight against Delahoya will be a reminder to all of us that doubt will never be helpful to us to achieve our goals in life.

For sure many will disagree that we must also look for the reality, race, and status or sometimes we must also listen to our doubts and I will not argue to you about that. Your race, the reality, status or doubt can be helpful information to use in building your game plan but this information is not enough for me to dictate your capabilities to perform.

The After words

My purpose on writing this is to share to everybody what I realize after watching Manny’s fight against ODLH that “Nothing is impossible” whatever your race, status present condition in life. I like what President Obama said that

“This is not United States of Black American or United States of White American but this is United States of America” (Then people stand-up for applause)

So may I follow the path of his statement that…

“Life is everybody to live”

So there you go the Walls of Discrimination our Manny Pacquiao abolish after defeating ODLH and you may hate me or love me to what I wrote and that is expected because as what I always believe

“Every body is unique”

Cheers…

i have a few questions/comments:

1) What kind of room has Five walls?

2) the word "irregardless" doesn't exist and should never be confused with the more apt "regardless"

3) what are after words?

4) your ideas are great, but you need to form them coherently, you're not making too much sense here, people shouldn't have to read twice to get what you mean.
