however..

i became more impatient. since assertive, direct to the point and hindi paikot-ikot ang ugaling kelangan sa trabaho ko, un na rin ung nakasanayan ko sa buhay outside work. i mean, i begin hate waiting. i want to get answers right away. i get demanding.

-- i never got sick. but my eyebags are bigger. less social life. and gasgas throat mo. hehe!!

-- good thing may vacation leaves. you can unwind once in a while..

I can relate to the being direct to the point and being assertive. namana ko after 3 years working in a call center (as an IT Supervisor).

tapos nagstartup ako ng BPO here sa province ko. terror raw ako sabi ng mga employees and staff. masyado akong frank. madali uminit ang ulo ko lalo na kapag may tinatanong ako (direct to the point question) and then what is given me is "excuses" or flattery.

just today I was just asking a simple question to one of my staff. he can't give a straight answer, can't seem to give me a simple yes or no answer. I repeated the same question for three times, each time getting different answers. napagsabihan ko tuloy because he was giving me the run-around. come evening/graveyard shift hindi pumasok, nagkasakit raw.

he is sooooo fired.

3 years ako cc industry. i started as agent since it was major career change for me ( imagine ex - army officer to cc agent ) . at first i sucked on accent ( totally suck...grammar was good but my accent was less desirable ) my three months in Fort bragg , NC was no help. So i had to retake accent again, pasng - awa nga ako as i recall.

then came prod traning, ok yun dahil ECE grad ako with CompE units so yung telecommunications acct nakayanan ko. then came the little things ,like call flow, quality, aht, hold time, aux time , schedule and break adherence , Upselling etc, AVAYA???? ( wtf.....ano to ? ). Pag dating ng learning lab ...namputa muntik ako nag mental block nun.

Night shift was ok at first coz it was easier for me. Bigla nag closing shift team ko 0400 - 1300h tapos split off, that started everything...tumaba ako bigla , sore and itchy throats, luckily hindi ako nagka sakit. i talk when i sleep, " thank you for calling......, yes sir, it would be better to take advantage and such. Sup ko nag problema stats ko - aht target is 600 sec , mine was 1800 , QA target 90++, ( suwerte na lang kung mak 85 ako ) , hindi ako marunong mag upsell, transitioning pa lang, wala na, palaging galit bp ko 100++ /120 3 months straight .

5 mos ako non existent sex life. ( hindi pa ko MTC member nun....i didn't know that MTC existed till last year ) , lahat puro speed, speed drinking , speed napping, speed bathng, speed dressing, speed eating. 3 months ako fav cust ng mcdo, yellow cab, 7 eleven, mini stop, chow king, star bucks or seattles best. Chain smoker na ako by that time.

after 6 months my attitude adjusted as well as my outlook. i started recieving commissions minimum of 20k a month not including OT sales , Ot work hours , rest day OT, Holiday OT ... adik sa OT ( legal yun...walang slamming ... it came to a point na tinawagan ang mga cust ko to confirm kung full disclosure ba sales ko ) kalahati ng regular salary ko pinap - inom ko na sa team or pundo for team building . 4 months after hindi na mabayaran ng buo and commissions ko, butil butil na binibigay- pending verification pa daw ( pero pag folow up sa account ginamit na ng cust ang prods ) .

Submit ako letter of resignation dahil gusto ko lipat iba cc - pioneer batch same acct. instead exit interview, interview for sup..... ayon naging Sup ako nang walang oras . Panibagong adjustment , balik stress na naman.

kung gaano kasakit ng ulo binigay ko sa Sup when i was agent , 18x binigay yung team na assign sa akin. 2 months na refresher training, naka recover rin.

After that ... lateral promotion WF analyst .... the best post of all. Now , im enjoying cc life , once i a while i do 3 weeks Active Duty training for the Army but i miss the young pretty gurls and the sexy Sups, the virgin trainees, cute trainer. Im earning more than a general makes in 1 month.

advise ko lang sa mga bagohan is.....

- try to cut down smoking, or do away with it if possible.

- don't always schedule your drinking sessions, be spontaneous, just make sure that you don't drink too much that you wont make it to your shift.

- workout or do some physical activity every week ( sex 2ce a week minimum or do something sporty 3ce a week , go to a gym or play your fav sport. stress is a result of bad working habits, call center job requires you us to use our brain almost 80% while our body does nuthing ...kayo do something for yor body.

- use your VL's and SL's sparingly and wisely

- never go to boracay or dakak using your own money, use the company's money.

- be and Avid MTC member - if your log-in doesnt have internet conection , find a log-in that has one.

i used to work in a call center for almost 3 years: 1 year & 3 months in etelecare as a technical support representative for Dell, then 1 year & 7 months in convergys as a technical support representative for Bellsouth. i learned a lot from the trainings i had with these companies. the biggest improvement was the manner i converse in english. i really improved a lot, got the american twang (sadly, it never disappeared even after i left the call center industry). in terms of technical stuff, i didnt learn that much compared to what im going through right now as an IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST for an international law firm. right now, im getting exposed to so much IT-related stuff, old and new ones. im glad i left the call center industry! :)

i will have to say that one of the side effects of being a cc agent is that you are "pressured" to display your earnings, meaning most (not all) spend all their salaries. Sometimes, they spend even more, when they max out their credit cards. Celfones, clothes, shoes, gimiks...etc are becoming a priority and no plans for the future whatsoever.

i think this applies to everyone but it is magnified in the cc industry coz it is where the easy money is.

3 yrs of working sa ofis, pero maliit lang ung offer til i decided to work in cc and it's already been 2 yrs na and ok naman ung compensation compared to my previous jobs... side effect is, nakaroon ako ng attitude problem, di ko macontrol ung temper ko kung minsan especially when i'm pissed off, sinisigawan ko din ung cust and my final written warning na din ako sa rude behaviour :D and wla na akong social life because i only exist when most people are sleeping

After reading past comments, I have noticed that there are a lot of people that want to adapt the accent of an American. This is my advice to you people, do not be ashamed if you talk in English and you have a Filipino accent. As an example, when the late Benazir Bhutto spoke in English, she spoke with an accent. But, to press my point, there are a lot of commentators and scholars who praise her for her intellect and do not mind her accent. In the meantime, why do a lot of Filipinos feel shame when having speaking with an accent? In an example, why do Filipinos make fun of a person with a "Bisaya" accent while they do not make fun of Bob Marley? Think about it. There is nothing to be ashamed about being a Filipino. Damn colonizers!
