  1. Wini,

I know that we haven't always seen eye to eye.

I know how much of a jerk I am and how much of an annoying loudmouth you could be.

But for all intensive purposes I just want you to know.

    We're gonna miss you.

Good luck working for System Operations.

Take Care. And Stay as you are (though you could pipe down a little bit if you ask me)

  2. ty sir for correcting me Richard Lasprilla vs Edward Lasprilla waha! sino un! ... ty agen

Your welcome. hehe.

Anyhow I pray Caloy finally scores one for the Philippines against China at the upcoming URCC event (we had a dismal 0-4 Showing against their fighters during the Art of War Event).

The Ali Khatibi vs. Carl Sebiniano match is another one I'm looking forward to seeing. Under the tutelage of Ali Sulit and the BJJ Group Vamos Para Frente (VPF) Carl's really gotten good with his BJJ but Khatibi's no slouch either. He himself is a great grappler (a bluebelt under Deftac BJJ) and I had a chance to compete alongside him during the Phil Grapplers League event in Market Market a year ago and I can say the guy's got game.

Another fun fact in the Sebiniano / Khatibi matchup is that both guys have faced Fearless/URCC Fighter Carlos Tiongson. Sebiniano lost to him during the last Dominacao Absoluta and Khatibi won against him (it was a reversed decision) during the PGL event at Market Market. It'd be great to finally see them face each other in the ring.

  3. randy the natural couture. ang galing but medyo matanda na.

eto naman si brock, parang beast from nowhere talaga.

you will be surprised bythe speed of the this guys hands. remember the punch that almost knocked out yung fighter na texas chainsaw ba yon.

from nowhwere bigla na lang nya nirush.

gsp pa rin. BJ penn got his ass kicked by matt hughes. kawawa yung end position bro. crucifix bi bj penn. wala magawa habang sinusontok yung mukha nya.

gsp is really a complete fighter.

Brock's last opponent (the one he knocked down from the opening bell) was Heath Herring and he's more popularly known as 'the Texas Crazy Horse' (more like Texas Crazy Hair IMO. hehe).

I see a brewing BJ Penn vs. GSP debate on this thread. Well like I said in a previous post. It really is hard to pick a winner in this one simply because both fighters are so much better now than when they first fought. BJ's boxing has improved tremendously (as shown during his last fight with Sean Sherk) and GSP's wrestling (and BJJ) have grown by leaps and bounds. GSP is the more well rounded fighter no doubt. More versatile with his strikes and has turned out to be a great wrestler. BJ is the better grappler however so if it goes to the ground he might have a slight advantage.

Bottomline: this'll definitely be an instant classic (well unless a freak injury or a lucky punch ends it quickly, I mean it is MMA. hehe).

You must mean former champion Richard Lasprilla. Well a couple of weeks ago I think they had some MMA fights at the Gymaholics Deftac gym in Sucat and Richard fought in one of the matches. So yeah by all indications he's back into fighting.

Besides, tinalo sya ng isang brown belt, that says a lot... Di man lang sya rumebanse ^,...,^

I mean if a BJJ blackbelt beats a BJJ brownbelt what does he gain? furthermore what if he loses? haha that would even be more embarassing. Isa pa naman siya sa pinakasikat na blackbelts of recent times and madalas siya magpaseminar here in southeast asia, guam and the US.

Anyway as for sir John's promotion to blackbelt. I personally asked coach Stephen about this and he says it wouldn't be right for a couple of reasons una, hindi student and teacher ang relationship nila ni John Baylon they're really more like friends and colleagues than anything else and second and more importantly

'To be able to award a blackbelt in BJJ you have to at least be a third-degree blackbelt yourself' at walang ganito sa Pilipinas. He'll probabbly have to go back to Japan or go to Brazil to get promoted to Blackbelt. But yeah I agree with a lot of people who think John Baylon should be a blackbelt in BJJ already. Matagal na ngang dapat IMO.

  9. BJ Penn all the way!!!! last time they fought GSP won pero naospital sya...si bj penn wala lang...kinapos lang talaga tababoy kasi dati =)

Yes, it'll be interesting how a better conditioned BJ Penn will deal with GSP (especially now that his boxing has improved immensely). Let's not forget though that GSP has improved as well his wrestling is way better than back then (he actually recieved an invitation from the Canadian Olympic Team to compete with them during the last Beijing Olympics that's how good he's gotten) and he just recently got promoted to BJJ blackbelt. Both BJ and GSP are definitely different, better fighters than when they first fought so this one will be a classic for sure.

  10. In local MA/Judo/BJJ News naman. Last Sunday I was at the Ateneo Gym to witness the annual Hajime! Judo Championships. The gold medal match for the -81kg blackbelt division was certainly a treat. We had BJJ Whiz and Pan American BJJ Black Belt Champion Mike Fowler against our very own 9 time SEAG gold medalist and two time olympian John Baylon (who trains with us at Team Fabricio)

here's a vid of the whole gold medal match on youtube:

John Baylon wins via cutting armbar in less than two minutes!

In the words of Randy Couture (after winning back the UFC HW Championship from Tim Sylvia):

"Not Bad for an Old Man.."

Congratulations to sir John and belated happy birthday last November 6 (He's already 44 by the way IMO our own version of Randy Couture).

We would love to have a Baylon/Fowler rematch this December at the Philippine International BJJ Championships but I think sir Mike Fowler has already declined due to the fact that BJJ blackbelts don't usually fight against Brownbelts (which sir John currently is in BJJ) in competition.

  12. but i think 205lbs is vera's natural weight right? i mean, he seems so small at HW div. i really think that he's not that focused on his last bout for some reason. he's not that fiesty as he used to...

Maybe it's due to the lack of ice cream and cake that he used to enjoy even during training back when he was a heavyweight. hehehe. but yes for all intensive reasons as many of you here have already pointed out Brandon's last couple of performance have been quite lackluster. He might be experiencing some 'other' problem we don't know of that's not fighting or not training related. Remember back when Randy fought Chuck the third and final time? He was going thru an emotional episode with the divorce proceedings he was then going thru with his ex wife. Perhaps Brandon's going thru something similar (God forbid) or maybe he's just burned out. Every fighter, MAist or even just plain practitioners get burned out at some point.
