  1. all that training foster self-confidence...ibang iba yung stance nila even after the first lesson...

they wear a mouth piece, shin guards, and gloves

they haven't cried or complained so far even when their lips got busted and even they've come home with bruises

i get them massages once a week (the wholesome ones guys, they're only 10 and 11) since they've been coming home sore

most definitely! as i mentioned to king they're only 10 and 11 years old so they've got a long way to go

i'll post some of their sparring video when i get a chance

Tatandaan ko yan mam ha. hehe.

    @riceboi

Yah, see you on the mats bro. One World. One BJJ.

  2. yeah look out for my boys...they've got heart sabi nga nila sa gym

lalo na yung pangalawa na sobrang liit pero matapang,

kahit gaano kalaki yung kasparring niya at natatalo na

hindi siya magtatap out...sabi nun instructor, he's proof daw that size doesn't matter

    :thumbsupsmiley:

hehe. Pag sikat na sila ha. My (future) gym should have first dibs pag nagpaseminar sila dito sa Pinas ha. hehehe.

  3. @hottlipss

Glad to see a mom who's so supportive of her kids doing MMA. I wish my mom was a little more like you. hehe. Good luck to them they're training at a nice camp and I do hope they get to represent the country in the future.

  4. ahhh i see, so kelangan i-represent ang school para din umakyat ng belt tama ba?

Well that and so that there'll be a common standard among the competitors. It is assumed kasi that if you come from a legit BJJ school you're skills are at par with other people coming from other legit BJJ schools. We assume for example that blue belts from Fabricio, Newbreed, VPF and Gracie Barra are of a certain skill level and are considered legit bluebelts. If you're a so-called blue belt though from a somewhat unknown school how would the other competitors know if you're blue belt is legit or not.

  5. Brock Lesnar would get murdered by Fedor Emelianenko at this point in time IMO. I say get the Fedor/Randy Fight that everyone has always wanted first and then let Randy retire once and for all. Let Brock learn and let his MMA skills grow for a year or so first before engaging Fedor. Perhaps by the time Fedor's done with Randy Brock would be better suited to fighting him.

  6. hmmmm if i start training next month, pano naman ako makakasali sa mga comps? kelangan ba yung dojo/team ko mag enter sakin for it or pwedeng sumali na lang?

Ganito if the Comp is BJJ generally you have to represent a legitimate BJJ School (say Fabricio, Gracie Barra, Newbreed or the like) but if you join a 'Grappling' (No-gi) competition kahit sarili mo lang ang irepresent mo ok na.

  7. he's got his ass handed to him by Overeem, the fight was a NC knee to the groin

Yay. I remember one of the articles on it saying 'OH CRAP- CROCUP!!'. hahaha. His fighting career has just been spiralling downwards after that head kick KO loss to Napao Gonzaga. He just hasn't been the same.

  8. bro will the Dominicao Absoluta be an annual event?

Well I certainly hope so. It's good na may bagong competition gaya nito.

Used to be that there were really only 3 or 4 BJJ / Grappling Tilts in a year. Three of the competitions are hosted by us, Team Fabricio namely: The Philippine Nationals, The Pan-Asians and The Philippine Internationals, then the Philippine Grapplers League hosted by the Strike and Shoot Academy (in this comp there are no belt classes just the best of the best from all teams).

This year we've had another tournament for newbies called the Roll-a-palooza and The Dominacao Absoluta. I certainly hope these events can be held on an annual basis.

  9. the one thing that i thought that could k*ll Joe Daddy was, he'd forget that Kenflo is a BJJ balckbelt as well, and ayun nga parang nagulat siya nung na takedown siya ni Kenflo and started grappling with him.

he'd bounce back from the loss though, he's an amazing fighter, one of my favorites kaso Kenflo is very cerebral, after winning the fight against Huerta sabi ko sa sarili ko ang utak na lumaban ni Kenflo ah

Yes people seem to have forgotten that Florian was a BJJ Blackbelt first before immensely improving his Muay Thai. I'm impressed by his footwork and how he uses it to create angles and how he used his reach in that fight to dictate position.

No question Joe-Daddy is gonna come back strong. I can't wait to see him put that vise-like guillotine choke on someone again.

  10. Oh I just wanna add nga pala. During a BJJ or a Wrestling Tournament oftentimes some of the weight classes are merged due to lack of competitors (I have been a victim of this several times in competitions already grrr..). My point being perhaps right now in the UFC with Brock being the only 'Freakishly Gigantic' HW around there might not be a need to implement a new weight division (or divisions) yet. But if more and more 'giants' enter the UFC (like that gigantic Korean guy Fedor caught in an armbar) perhaps a new weight class is in order.

  11. i felt bad for rory, that looked really really painful

    ----

I wanna ask you guys if you think another division is needed for the UFC, like a Super Heavyweight division.

Personally I think the weight difference in CoutureXLesnar was ridiculous, that would be like Joe Stevenson fighting Rampage, and we all know that with two skilled and trained fighters the bigger man will always have the advantage.

But then again you can argue that it was Randy's choice to come in at 220.

So what do you think? UFC super heavyweight division, yay or nay?

Yay here for a Super Heavyweight Division. Perhaps something like 205.1 to 250 for the HW Division then 250 and above. Or perhaps they should just reorganize the entire range of weight classes.

For Comparison here are the weight classes for our sport Freestyle Wrestling:

    -55kg (121 lbs. and below)

    -06kg (132 lbs. and below)

    -66kg(145.2 lbs. and below)

    -74kg(162.8 lbs. and below)

    -84kg(184.8 lbs. and below)

    -96kg(211.2 lbs. and below)

    -120kg(264 lbs. and below)

    120+(264.1 lbs and above)

the IBJJF (Int'l BJJ Federation) uses a similar weight class system. In boxing if you've noticed there are even more 'stringent' weight classes, some divisions only differ by 3-5 lbs.

  12. Dustin Hazelett looks freaky but damn his jiu jitsu is strong.

Yeah the guy was still wearing a Tanner Tribute Beard (too bad Joe Rogan already shaved his off). They guy has got really sick BJJ. He got an omo plata one of the arms, rory countered and he shifted to lock down the other arm before getting that twisting armbar.

  13. I was disappointed with not only the loss by Randy Couture but also the loss of Jorge Gurgel. As Joe Rogan kept on pointing out during the fight. The guy keeps fighting like a kickboxer when he really ought to use his world class BJJ blackbelt skills a lot more. So much for trying for takedowns during the last minute of the last round as they say it was just too little and too late.

Anyway Brock's win poses I think some pretty interesting scenarios. For one a match with either Mir or Nog ought to be good and with his win we can expect an influx of these really 'freakishly, gigantic heavyweights' to try and enter the UFC now. IMO if the UFC does get a truckload of these giants maybe he ought to put up another weight division for them. Say 'Super Heavyweight' perhaps like they have in boxing or bodybuilding.

Great BJJ displays as well by Damian Meia and Mark Bocek and that Armbar from Omo Plata setup by Dustin Hazelett was one slick submission. I look forward to seeing him win more UFC Submission of the Night awards in the future.

  14. Talo si Couture dito sa match up na ito... Hindi pabor kay randy ang match up laban kay Lesnar, mas bata si Lesnar at mas malakas at world class wrestler din...

Hindi nga pabor. Historically Randy hasn't done well with other wrestlers who are bigger and stronger than him. anyhow I still want him to win this one and I'm sure he'll be coming in there with a plan. So let's see how this one goes down.

  15. Judo rules nga siguro, pero nasa ground na sila nung mahuli sya ni Baylon eh...

Well yes tama ka bro. But Fowler will always have an excuse that ju-do match pa din yun. hehe. Well, at least Mike Fowler will probabbly pipe down a bit. He issued an open challenge to any BJJ blackbelt for a super fight during the last Dominacao Absoluta.
