  1. "Technically, FIBA made a bad decision. My mom is Filipino, so there is no reason they should judge me like a naturalized player. It hurt me."

    "If you were born with some type of blood or culture, you should have the right to play for it. I was born in the US, but that doesn't mean I can't play for my own country - the Philippines. I am playing for the Filipino blood and glory right now. Hopefully, FIBA will make the rules clearer in the future,"

  2. by the way, who won bet japan and china?

    CHINA WON 84-58 against JAPAN... YI JIANLIAN was unstoppable..

    Games on FRIDAY:

    CHINA-LEBANON

    JAPAN-KOREA

    IRAN-JORDAN

    PHILIPPINES-TAIPEI

    Winner of CHI-LEB meets JAP-KOR

    Winner of IRAN-JORDAN face PHILIPPINES-TAIPEI

  3. jimmy alapag is the heart and soul of smart gilas. the other pba players look more amateurish than amateur players of smart giles. especially williams and taulava. walang reliever si douthit na reliable. alapag should take more three's. he's the only reliable shooter there. deocampo so far is a disappointment. nevertheless, great job.

    in their game against JORDAN, malaking bagay ang ginawa ni TAULAVA and ALAPAG.. then dun sa game against JAPAN, double digits sa game sila WILLIAMS and ALAPAG, plus malaking bagay yung mga power plays ni DE OCAMPO during the 4th period. kaya hindi masasabing amateur and disappointment yung ibang pro-athletes natin sa team. and, as long as we're winning, walang disappoinment sa mga players.

  4. Kung ako si Pacman. iwasan mo nalang yang gayweather na yan. he has no right to demand a fight from pacman since pacman has nothing to prove to him or to anyone.

    kahit na assuming technically legal yung cheap shot ni gayweather, hindi siya matinong kalaban. bastos yun. traydor. magulang. duwag. or baka naman lutong makaw.

    ayon kay PACMAN, di niya nga kailangan si GAYMAN...

  5. The team may just be doing what is needed to win. Japeth is still weak when it comes to defense. In the game against China, pinaglaruan lang sya ni Wang.

    On the other hand, baka tinatago lang ni coach Toroman si Japeth. He's a shooter, and at 6'9", mahirap yan bantayan sa perimeter and 3-point shooting.

    I'm sure Japeth will be used when the right time comes.

    there's a big possibility na JAPETH, BARACAEL, and BARROCA will play huge minutes in today's game. after two exhausting game days, the players who played extended minutes should be given limited time today. after all, SYRIA is less competitive, and we are almost assured of 2nd spot in our group. also, i think DOUTHIT is feeling something in his foot since the JORDAN game.. we don't want our main man to nurse injury in this tournament.

  7. Philippines 83 - Douthit 25 (18r), Alapag 15, Lassiter 15, Williams 12, Barroca 6, de Ocampo 4, Casio 4, Taulava 2. Lutz 0, Tiu 0.

    Japan 76 - J.Takeuchi 22, Shonaka 14, Hirose 13, T.Kawamura 12, K.Takeuchi 6, Ishizaki 5, Amino 4, Sakurai 0, Takeda 0, Kashiwagi 0, Matsui 0.

    --->great game for WILLIAMS, LASSITER, LUTZ, and ALAPAG... they lived to expectations. LUTZ' tight defense on KAWAMURA limited the JAPANESE to only 12 pts.

    DOUTHIT, another monster game for the FILIPINO by HEART and PRIDE..

    tomorrow against SYRIA, expect JAPETH AGUILAR and MAC BARACAEL some minutes, for sure!

  8. i think, sa laban against JAPAN... mas maging aggressive si kelly williams, siya ang may malaking chance maka dish out ng foul from opponents.. kailangan niya ng power play and slashing sa game.

    then lassiter and lutz, must play defense like what they did against JORDAN..

    kailangan din magconnect o swertehin tayo sa outside shots natin..

    plus, give japeth aguilar playing time.. or atleast subukan ni coach kung magiging effective siya sa game na yun. like what happened against bharain.

    END OF 3RD QUARTER: PHI 60- JAP 52...

    KELLY WILLIAMS played aggressive basketball first few possessions ng PILIPINAS galing sa kanya, defense and rebounding.. sana ma-sustain niya sa 4th.. he played like what i expect him to play.

    CHRIS LUTZ from start until he fouled out, nice defense on JAPANESE shooter KAWAMURA. hindi nagkaroon ng rhythm si KAWAMURA dahil sa mala-asawang depensa ni LUTZ.

    MARCIO LASSITER already with 13 pts.. aggressive siya defense and offense. at ngayon wala na si LUTZ, expected siya to guard KAWAMURA sa 4th.

    nagcoconnect din tayo sa outside shots natin kaya nakakalamang tayo, plus our aggressiveness sa defense and fast break.. better chances na manalo tayo if we sustain this kind of play.

    lastly, ayun waterboy uli si JAPETH.. ano ba problem kay JAPETH at ayaw siya paglaruin o bigyan ng chance ni COACH? last time he played, top scorer siya sa team.. tapos wala na uli playing time.

  9. Pilipinas Basketbol

    2012 London men full schedule

  10. http://wuhan2011.fibaasia.net/

    i was reading and analyzing the scenario and remaining schedules...

    after the second round if things are in the norm:

    Grp E:

    1. Iran

    2. Korea

    3. Chinese Taipei

    4. Lebanon

    Grp F:

    1. China

    2. Philippines

    3. Japan

    4. Jordan

    So the bracketing will look like this:

    Korea =============|

    ...................|==========|

    Japan =============|..........|

    ..............................|========|

    China =============|..........|........|

    ...................|==========|........|

    Lebanon ===========|...................|

    .......................................|================

    Philippines =======|...................|

    ...................|==========|........|

    Chinese Taipei ====|..........|........|

    ..............................|========|

    Jordan =============|..........|

    ...................|==========|

    Iran ==============|

    So waht do you think??? kaya ba ng pinas???

    well, sa 7 teams na yan... we are fortunate na sa chinese taipei pa tayo natapat. then, let's hope JORDAN will win against IRAN... atleast we knew how to beat JORDAN. i think we also beat IRAN in the past tournament, although they also beat us in the quarters.

    then, ok na rin na nasa kabilang group ang CHINA, KOREA, and JAPAN.. para sila sila nalang magubusan tapos ung matira makalaban natin sa finals. then, let's make an upset.

    the best thing here, hindi naman ganun kalakasan sa banggaan ang CHINESE TAIPEI, CHINA, KOREA, JAPAN... kailangan natin ung power plays nila ranidel at kelly sa PBA para ubusin ang fouls ng kalaban.

  11. well, to the rescue naman kay PACMAN ang mga boxing analysts... hindi na kailangan sumagot ni PACMAN kay GAYMAN dahil nandiyan ang super friends..

    *Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole, meanwhile, criticized Mayweather for "ducking and dodging" questions about Pacquiao during the post-fight presser.

    "Finally, he was asked, 'Tell us exactly what it will take for you and Pacquiao to get in there.' And given the opportunity, finally to trot out his favorite line: 'If you think you're the best, take the test,'" Iole said.

    "If he doesn't want to fight Pacquiao because he truly believes in his heart that Pacquiao is using performance enhancing drugs, then say so. It will disappoint millions of fans worldwide, many of whom are his fans, but it's his choice to fight whomever he wants," he added.

    Iole says Mayweather has to end the "crazy tap dance" regarding the question about Pacquiao.

    "For all the great things that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has done in his career, his response to that one question continues to be his only losing move," he said.

    *"Floyd just spent 10 mins basically making excuses why he's not fighting Pacquiao. I'm gonna hurl," tweeted ESPN's Dan Rafael.

  12. POST FIGHT PRESS CONFERENCE OF GAYMAN...

    "I don't need (Manny) Pacquiao. With or without Pacquiao, every time Floyd Mayweather goes out there he's going to make over $70-million, period. I don't need him," =

    -->According to the Nevada Athletic Commission, Mayweather will make $25 million from the fight, and his total take could approach $40 million with his cut of the HBO Pay Per View telecast and other revenue streams. but hey, after the fight with ortiz, who's next in your line to give you $70M? and to remind you, thousands of your tickets were not sold..

    "Where was he (Pacquiao) in 96, 97, 98, 99, 2000, 2001, when I was dominating the game? Now when I'm 34 they say this guy wants to fight. They didn't ask me when I was in my twenties or when I was in my teens,"

    -->as if he would fight the "then unknown" pacquiao if he challenged him that time.. besides, he's 34 and pacquiao's 32.. 2 years difference?? c'mon man!!!

    "If were to go up right now to heavyweight and compete with the Klitschkos, you would say, 'Floyd Mayweather is on something.' But a man goes up from 105 to 154 and you say, 'oh, it's all natural.' C'mon man, wake up,"

    -->if he cheated, after all his fights, authorities should have figured it out. not to mention, you still have court case regarding that issue.. please attend to that this time.

    "Pacquiao is famous because he is attached to my name. When they say Pacquiao, they say that's the guy they are trying to get to fight Floyd Mayweather. When they say Floyd Mayweather, they say that's an all-time great,"

    -->maybe it's the other way around.. i think he's the one always mentioning pacquiao. besides, thousands of tickets were not sold for his fight, while pacquiao's november fight tickets are sold out as early as 2 weeks ago.. online selling of ticket valued at $7k are now sold at $17k.. and hey, PACQUIAO IS THE NUMBER ONE POUND-FOR-POUND.

  13. i think, sa laban against JAPAN... mas maging aggressive si kelly williams, siya ang may malaking chance maka dish out ng foul from opponents.. kailangan niya ng power play and slashing sa game.

  14. Why were Lutz and Lassiter disqualified?

    nag protest ang LEBANON... kaya hindi sila pinayagan maglaro nung 1st round. pero naglaro na sila ngayon 2nd round after submitting documents para patunayan FILIPINO sila, at nabigyan na ng clearance ng FIBA to play.

  15. come on guys even with the two filam in the lineup can you still believe we could beat china?,,,, and maybe in the future iran?,.... di naman seven footer tong dalawa.... target natin ay 3rd place n lang.... even if we play both korea and japan we will have a very difficult time matching up with them.... then there is lebanon and jordan to contend with....another match up problem for us.... e this team was form not three years ago but was form this month with the inclusion of pba players.... nasaan n mga original n players from the collegiate rank? TOROMAN know very well that we are overmatch practically in all position if face the top teams in asia.... thats why they rely heavily on marcus and players from the PBA.... even dondon hontiveros knows n mahihirapan tayo s wuhan thats why he quits citing fatigue... heck cya lang b ang naglalaro ng basketbal na ganoon katagal.... remember that players who played in the NBA played a minimum 82 games in a year if you are a starter no counting games played in the playoff....s pba max games by TNT is around 60 games and that for a team that qualify in the finals for the three conferences... kung mamalasin k at d makaqualify team mo you got to play 40 games max.... ang layo ng standard ng international competition from us.... so let stop kidding ourselves that we are still the best one on one players in asia.... i don't see any players drafted or invited by the NBA from the current roster of FILIPINO PLAYERS IN ANY LEAGUE HERE IN OUR COUNTRY

    well, nanalo ang GILAS over JORDAN, thanks to the defense of LUTZ and the defense/offense of LASSITER.. sa pagkawala ng dalawang ito, hindi lang 5th position ang naging kulang sa atin, pati SG position. malaking bagay ung steal ni LASSITER with 2mins left in the 4th, dahil dun nakakuha ng foul si DOUTHIT to increase their lead to four.

    then there comes LEBANON. in the first place, kung hindi sila takot sa PHI team... bakit pa sila nagprotest? there's something in the team na alam nilang mahihirapan sila.

    tomorrow, GILAS will face JAPAN.. whatever happens, pasok na ang team sa quarterfinals.. but still, we want to see the PHI winning..

    we may lack in height, and these two players may lack the height you're saying... but they have the heart and the talent to defend and shoot.. and that's what we're needing right now.

  17. come on guys even with the two filam in the lineup can you still believe we could beat china?,,,, and maybe in the future iran?,.... di naman seven footer tong dalawa.... target natin ay 3rd place n lang.... even if we play both korea and japan we will have a very difficult time matching up with them.... then there is lebanon and jordan to contend with....another match up problem for us.... e this team was form not three years ago but was form this month with the inclusion of pba players.... nasaan n mga original n players from the collegiate rank? kung ganyan ang attitude na iisipin ng bansa natin, talagang walang mararating ang team... kung sa tingin mo walang mararating ang PILIPINAS sa basketball, paano pa ang mga bansa tulad ng UAE, BAHRAIN, etc? and kung iisipin mo na hindi naman tayo ang gumagastos sa mga bansang yan.. heck, si MVP naman ang gumagastos sa team at hindi ang government natin. as long na may nagfi finance para makabuo ng team, dapat nga matuwa pa tayo kesa magreklamo.

    beside, hindi naman tayo kulang sa malaki talaga laban sa china.. nandun sa douthit at taulava, may japeth pang nagaabang sa bench. ang kulang natin ay shooting guard position. kaya nga nagsasabay na sina tiu, casio, at alapag.. imagine kung si lassiter o lutz ang nandun instead of casio or alapag? mas may match up tayo sa guard nila. as the case ni hontiveros, fatigue ang sinasabi niya, pero speculations is that lilipat na nga siya sa SMB kaya umalis sa team. may nakikita ka bang player from SMC na naglalaro sa current GILAS?

  18. Final Score: Philippines - 113 , Bahrain - 71 (PHL advances to next round)

    Philippines 113 - Aguilar 21, Douthit 18, Casio 15, Taulava 13, de Ocampo 13, Baracael 11, Tiu 10, Barroca 8,Alapag 2, Williams 2,

    Bahrain 71 - Malabes 15, Sarhan 13, Mahri 11, Ali 8, Isa 7, Khamis 7, Akber 6, Mubarak 2, Ashoor 0.

    ...

    Quarters: 30-18, 51-41, 86-47, 113-71

    JAPETH AGUILAR 21PTS, 12REBS,, KAYA SIGURO HINDI NA IPINASOK KAHAPON PARA MAPAHINGA AT SIYA ANG GAGAWA SA LARONG ITO, DAHIL KAYA ALAM NI COACH TAGILID NA SA LABAN KAHAPON KAYA DITO NALANG BABAWI? O DAHIL HINDI NAIPASOK KAHAPON SI JAPETH KAYA NAGPAKITANG GILAS SA LARONG ITO?
