President-elect Rodrigo Duterte is all praises for his Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, one of the BFFs of former First Gentleman Mike Arroyo.

“Cusi is an organization man. I think he has edge in so many positions in the government. We just met five times in my life but he has the credentials to run the government,” Duterte said in a report by Mindanews.

Cusi is the vice chair of Duterte’s party, Partido Demokratikong Pilipino, and he used to be the chief executive of the Manila International Airport Authority, Philippine Ports Authority, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines during the Arroyo administration.

Cusi belongs to FG Arroyo’s circle of friends in the Makati Rotary Club which includes Edgardo Manda, former Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. chair Efraim Genuino, and Agriculture Undersecretary Jocelyn Bolante.

Cusi was investigated in the Senate for his involvement in the alleged election cheating of then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the “Hello Garci” scandal.

In a report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer on June 15, 2006, Ashmar Lucman, president of the Lanao Unity Movement for GMA, testified that FG Arroyo and Cusi sent P1 million to his group to bribe election officers into overturning Fernando Poe Jr.’s lead over Ms. Arroyo. Cusi denied the allegation.

Incoming presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo claimed that Duterte chose Cusi because of his integrity.

A former lawyer of ex-First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike Arroyo” will be part of the legal team representing incoming President Rodrigo Duterte when Congress convenes in a joint session and sits as the National Board of Canvassers.

Inocencio “Toto” Ferrer, Jr., former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s erstwhile Finance Secretary, is among the legal minds tapped by incoming presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo to assist in the national canvass.

Panelo is Duterte’s lead counsel in the canvassing of votes, representing the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP).

Ferrer was last seen in the national spotlight as the lawyer of Chinese-Filipino casino junket operator Kim Wong in the Senate hearings on the US$81-million Bangladesh bank heist.

Duterte is wasting precious political capital going against the Catholic Church.

Now is not the time to engage in bickering with the Church on such a relatively trivial issue as family planning. There are more pressing issues such as job creation.

He still has to form his cabinet, he should focus on that.

Let us do our part and pay the right taxes para may sapat na pondo gobyerno (past, present o future man) maski ang tax dito ay pinakamalaki compared to our ASEAN neighbors. But we should never pay "revolutionary tax" to fund terrorism and crime by the CCP-NPA.

No wonder he controlled Davao for nearly 30 years at napag-iwanan ito ng Manila at Cebu. Totoong mas disiplinado at polite ang mga tao sa Davao, but crime & drugs still exist, and worst sobrang napag-iwan ang Davao economically kasi halos walang competition at sa mga karagdagang expenses tulad ng "revolutionary tax".

But nevertheless, we should give him a chance. Let us do our part by continuing to pay the correct taxes & obeying the law. But we should also chase after his promises para di tayong magmuhkang tanga, maging mas kaawa-awa at maging mas mahirap after 6 years.

And of course, I hope he does his part and fulfill all his promises to all of us.

Since nandyan na yan, I wish him the best for the benefit of every Pinoy.

Simply compare the economy of Manila, Cebu & Davao, sino ang bokya? I've been traveling to Davao (and other major cities) up to 12X a year for the over a decade.

Sana ituloy at ipalawak ang laban against corruption. Sana walang cronyism at nepotism.

Sana after 6 years, mas maging proud at dignified tayong mga Pinoy.

Peace and good luck to all of us!

I do understand that he does need to tell these bishops na umayos sila at tama ng kabastosan nila sa sobra ng pakikialam sa mga desisyon ng estado.

They really should stay in theiir place and not exercise megalomania.

Babatikos for the sake ng pangbabatikos

ako, bitter? nah! matagal na ako sa poltics... i won some, i lost some... and bitterness is not in my blood..

just focus on the issues, not on me

so you are saying trapo moves muna sya para to stay in power, righT?

hindi naman "to stay in power" ang aim sa pagkuha ng support ng buong congress. kampanya pa lang sinasabi na. the main aim is FEDERALISM

In that case, hold those conclusions muna. Hindi pa nga nakakaupo di ba? I mean being a critic is one thing and being an antagonist is another thing.

huh? so you are saying that we just shut down this thread until june 30 when he takes over?

wala tayo pag uusapan dito since wala pa sya sa position. ganun ba yun?

my opinion for or against him is based on what he says, what his plans are, or what he does for now.

i know hindi pa sya presidente pero marami na syang sinasabi o ginagawa where i think i can give my opinion.

like for example.... his choice of sonny dominguez is a a double thumbs up for me..... i see a bright future for the dept of finance.

duterte's plan to get rid of drugs has my full support as long as things are done within the legal bounds.....

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte isn’t keen on taking over President Benigno Aquino III’s digs at Bahay Pangarap.

In a report by CNN Philippines, Duterte said he doesn’t like to live at Bahay Pangarap because of high electricity costs in the house built inside the Malacanang Park across the Pasig River from the main Palace compound.

“Wala bang hotel diyan sa malapit? Kasi para makamura ang gobyerno. Mahal ang ilaw diyan sa Pangarap,” said Duterte.

Bahay Pangarap was built by former President Manuel Quezon ‎as a retreat house. It was refurbished in the Macapagal administration and converted into a golf clubhouse under the Ramos administration. It was remodeled into a four-bedroom house for Aquino in 2010, the first president to use it as a personal residence.

Duterte has ruled out residing in Malacanang because he was spooked by the presidential portraits there when he was invited to the Guest Room by then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Duterte is leaning towards ruling the Philippines out of his home province Davao.

Is he going to close the MPs & KTVs?

sabi nya he is pro flesh trade.....

so that may mean that past 2am (his liquor ban).... no alcohol, just sex in MPs and KTVs

LOL!

Digong doesn't consider sex trade a crime but a public health issue.
