bods1000
Right on Bods, I never tire listeing to my tape of Caldera's Seraphim and Ancient Source, Seawind's He Loves You, Bob James' Sunrunner, George Duke's Summer Breezin', Kittyhawk's Islands, Mangione's Hill Where The Lord Hides, Ricky Lee Jones' Chuck E's in Love...also Deodato's Superstrut with Billy Cobham on drums and John Tropea on guitar...<{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah Rickie Lee Jones........I have her Pirates LP. This is where A Lucky Guy is. Speaking of 70's jazz vocalists there's Phoebe Snow with her Poetry Man - an instrumental version of which was done by Gabor Szabo...I love Bob James' Touchdown....pards ang hirap nang makakita ng Caldera ngayon o Kitty Hawk.... I was at Bobby's today at ang dami nung mga jazz LP - from Willie Bobo to Wilbert Longmire to Chick Corea to Alphonse Mouzon to Ronnie Laws...ended up buying a Danny Gottlieb LP (he's Pat Metheny's drummer) and two ECm Sampler LP's.....madami pa sana kaya lang kulang na budget hehehe next time... Yes, I also like Bob James' touchdown album. Halos wala kang itatapon sa mga cuts. Yup, love Phoebe Snow too...same goes to Minnie Ripperton, Dianne Reeves and Esther Saterfield. I have never seen a Caldera or Kittyhawk CD...meron nga kaya? Chick Corea has so many albums, the only one I have here is a CD of Light as a Feather. Not sure, but was Danny Gottlieb also with the group elements before? Ok yan kung ECM sampler, given na maraming magaling sa stable ng ECM, also with Verve and CTI... Quote Link to comment

I have listened to a couple of their albums...I would say their music is very much influenced by Metheney. I remember the Kittihawk LP had an outline of a plane in blue (the Wright brothers' plane) and a beige background. Quote Link to comment

That's the album which contained Free-fallin', Brooklyn Girls, Are You Ready for Love among others...Freefallin' got a lot of airplay even at RT then but I can't understand why the album wasn't released locally...import na din ang nabili ko nung may nakita ako... storm
Hello fellow 70s peeps. Been out for awhile. Finished a lot of projects this week: an hospitality suite installation in Shang and commemorative sculptures for a multinational company. A very tiring but fulfilling and successful week, I may say. Jazz sounds good if you happened to play it in a very good stereo system. We bought an Akai quadrophonic system in Christmas of 1972, it was good then but it went out of "fashion" for the simple reason that since we only have 2 ears, so 2 speakers or stereo is enough, although I liked the surround sound when it comes to disco music. Anyway, we bought another stereo in 1978, a Pioneer receiver, equalizer and cassette recorder with Technics turntable and JBL speakers. Now, I'm using a Yamaha 1200 6.1 receiver for my DTS home theater with DynaAudio speakers (front, center and subwoofer) and Atlantic speakers (surround rear and center). And for my audio listening pleasure, I happened to own a Pass Aleph which really sounds very well indeed. What I lack is the free time to enjoy the music. Quote Link to comment
bods1000
magaling talaga Yamaha...matibay pa...had mine since '96 ni minsan di pa tumukod although gamit na gamit Plan on changing speakers pero hindi kasi Dolby Digital yung Yamaha ko kaya tinatamad akong magpalit.... Welcome back, pareng storm! Quote Link to comment
storm
The Yamaha 1200 is my 2nd Yamaha and I got it on SALE, less 40%. I bought my first Yamaha in 98 together with KEF Coda speakers for the audio and Atlantic surround system for the video. Hindi pa uso DTS noon, Dolby Digital pa lang. I'm still using the system in our bedroom. Mabangis pa ring tumunog. Pareng Bods, hindi kailangan ang dolby digital sa audio. Besides, mas maganda tumunog yung mga luma. When it comes to speakers, I prefer the European made, especially those from Denmark. Medyo mas mahal lang pero ang lilinis tumunog. Quote Link to comment
bods1000
yeah pare kaya I'm not changing it...puro audio na lang ako...dati kasi I was planning on a comprehensive home- theater pero wala na akong time manood ngayon...gusto ko ding subukan yung mga Polk saka Boston Acoustics na speakers...if I can afford them Quote Link to comment
storm
Pare try mo pakinggan yung KEF Coda or the cheaper Cresta. Malinis siya tumunog. Mas warm ang tunog ng B&W kaysa Polk and Boston Acoustic. Pero value for money when it comes to Audio is DynaAudio. Yan yung pinag-ipunan ko. Walang nang lilinis pa. Quote Link to comment
