OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer

Nowadays if u go to a factory in China - Pwede ka magpagawa ng THUG brand na notebook (actually generic lang din un)

as long as u can order the minimum quantity ...

So ung mga PC Corner, PC Options nagpaparun sila nga mga 500 units (for example lang) then un

bebenta nila dito ...

thanks.. but whats OEM?

found this site..

http://www.laptopking.com.ph/laptopking/co...=build-to-order

this is cool ha.. i wonder if apex is a good buy.. its locally assembled.. its more like buying a PC then have it custom built..

i have an old Presario Amd athlon, weighs like a hollow block! thinking of buying a new one..

even the cheap 25k laptops right now are better than my old laptop.. :D

Marami na rin binabagsak na Surplus dito

There is one know dealer ng surplus na laptop

si kooltoyz at si Open Pinoy

www.cooltoyzph.com - sa Greenhills

www.openpinoy.com - Makati Ave and Maysilo sa Mandaluyong

may 100 dollar laptop pala..

pero this is by donation to the kids in 3rd world country.. this will then be their textbooks and notebook in 1..

cool..

thanks,

may nakita nga ako yung Do It Yourself laptop sa cybercity sa SM North..nasa dulo sya..

wala syang brand, generic, then ikaw pipili ng gusto mong chassis, processors, memory, hard disk etc..

although when i compared it spec per spec and price per price to a Neo Laptop lumalabas na slightly mas mura pa din ang Neo..

although I have feeling that Neo, MSI, ECS laptops all came from this same generic custom laptop, and was just re-branded..

--------------------

with regards to Cooltoyz, I compared their price to CNET's price.. yung mid-to-high end Dell Laptops are 20k pesos more expensive sa CoolToyz ha.. does than mean 20k ang kita ng CoolToyz for every laptop they sell?

pero ganda ng spec ng dell!..

yun bang display price ng laptop sa store sa US dadagdagan pa ng tax yun? when i bought my Presario Athlon sa Canada nadagdagan din ng tax e.. so di rin ganun kalaki natipid ko.. halos same lang..

plus when i brought the laptop here, di sanay sa init yung laptop.. namamamatay.. kase nga kulang ng heatsink pala..since meant for canadian weather.. buti under warranty at naayos din agad..

worth it ba magpabili or bumili sa US to bring the laptop here of much better dito na lang bumili?

-----------------------------

mura nga yung laptop ni openpinoy, yun nga lang that is a PENTIUM 4 laptop.. its not centrino, or Celeron M, so chances are madaling uminit yan.. and battery life nya is less than 1 hour.. pentium 4 is a desktop processor not for laptops..

at baka kasingbigat din ng laptop ko yan..parang hollow block hehehehe..

Bumili sya through web and catalogues

Pagdateng sa NAIA harangin ba naman at itatax daw, buti na lang OFW din siya

14 inch WXGA smallest ng HP Compaq..

barely usable din 12 inch screen.. sasakit lang mata mo dun..

I was also looking at other brands like averatec, toshiba etc na 12-13in. I travel a lot so i wanted something light and handy.

When i saw the HP it actually didn't look big (widescreen kasi). I used to have a 14" IBM Thinkpad during college and a 15" Toshiba Satellite (which is more of a desktop replacement laptop) So the 14" HP was a surprise. And it isn't that heavy too (well compared to the toshiba it was like comparing feathers to rocks).

problem with widescreen is that most web pages are designed for a standard 1024x768 screen..

how does a 1024x768 webpage or windows form, appear on your Wide screen XGA?

widescreens are made for movies. webpages are displayed normally - no problem there except white borders on the side like when you are viewing a 800 x 600 webpage on a display resolution of 1280 x 1024 on a regular monitor. Games are a bit of a problem though when the screen is stretched a bit. Now players like D.WADE, TMAC etc appear short and stout on NBA LIVE.

thanks for the input, that confirms my concern if i buy WXGA laptops..

my primary use for the laptop is not to watch dvd's (the dvd player, and tv does a better job), but i would probably use it 20% of the time to design and develop web pages..

Mas mura talaga laptop sa US..sometimes as much as 50% cheaper kesa dito.. and mga branded sila..although lahat naman ng laptop/notebooks today are manufactured/ODM sa china and taiwan. Ang habol mo ngalang pag branded..pag nasira..pede palitan. Tip lang kung nasa US ka now babagsak ang price ng mga Centrino and Celeron cpu coz lalabas na nextmonth and bagong Cual Core(Merom) ng Intel..expect a price reduction coz mag uunload na naman sila..best place to buy notebook at rock bottom price is EBAY and look for COMPUSAAUCTIONS coz they are actually selling old stock na laptops. They list it as USED but the truth is mga old stocks lang sila.. nanalo ko sa bidding for only $600(P31200) ng Compaq V4000 Centrino Pentium M 1.6Ghz cpu, Compaq R4000 AMD 64 for $700 and Gateway CeleronM 1.6Ghz ($550) ..so its really a bargain price.. ang tip lang...wag kaagad mag bid..maghintay ng last minute then try to outbid them in a reasonable way..or try mo magbid pag 12midnight :)) most of the time tulog mga kalaban hehe..but other than COMPUSAAUCTIONS or BESTBUYAUCTIONS..never ever try to bid to other seller..those two seller kasi also have SHOPS so they are reputable company talaga...

Just my two cents only..hope it helps..

Btw Nabenta ko sa pinas ng almost double the price yung nabili ko don..hehe tubong lugaw..

all established international brands have this International Travellers Warranty

I bought my laptop overseas and was able to avail of this warranty when I've encountered problem with my laptop

they changed the whole motherboard, the problem was with the video card, Free of Charge, even though I have only 6 days left on the warranty

If it was not covered by the warranty, it would have cost me 27k freaking pesos
