Good marketing skills for urcc.

Ok yan to make it more popular. It's like Celebrity Deathmatch but fight could be boring so it's not worth watching on its own.

You have to be a Filipino Male to understand the point of all this kay Baron at Kiko.

Tapos me ilang barkada magmediate ng laban. Labasan sama ng loob, in 10 mins or less tapos na!

Pride rules.

This promotion kind of reminds me of Bellator who put up a fight card with Ken Shamrock vs Royce Gracie 3. 2 Legendary fighters during their time when MMA was still being introduced. It turned out to be a joke of a fight. Simply because they were trying to hype the fight and generate some form of buzz and interest.

If this new promotion is trying to generate interest from people this is the wrong way to go. I won't even be interested in watching this type of circus sideshow where 2 untrained people fight on TV. Ridiculous

Yeah I thought true fight fans will say this. Iba naman kasi ang street fighting. Sudden burst of rage sya.

Pano pa kaya pag pwede gumanti sinusuntok mo?

Tama ka it will be a circus, pero will not really show what the sport is all about

Yeah tama ka talaga dyan. Me time kasi na talagang ang tingin sa MMA ay human cockfighting lang. Over time nagevolve sya into a disciplined spectator sport. Kung matutuloy laban, sana pakitaan tayo ng totoong showcase ng skillset nila. otherwise, why charge people to see it?

At yeah dapat magbati talaga sila pagkatapos.

Not the kind of guy who thinks that violence is the best way to go. But as a guy I understand why some will do this. Unless gusto nyo magkasakitan nanaman

Salamat sa pag recognize sa statement ko. Buti inalis mo iyong mga orang utan. Dala lang ng inis iyon. The reason why I do not agree with this match up is because it will give casual spectators an idea that anyone with a beef can duke it out in MMA rules, with a major local promoter at that. Parang grudge match na lang. It is also not fair that these 2 clowns will get more promotion than the other guys who have been fighting professionally for a long time. I watched richard las prillas, pinoy montero and edward folayang fight for the URCC because they love the game and not because they want to erase someone's face off their heads. I grew up in Baguio and I saw how team lakay trains. More power to them. Hope they give us a good show.

Well said brader. Kaya nga yun ang tanong ko una. Makakatulong ba ito talaga ipromote ang MMA? Yun mga unang UFC kasi mapapansin natin, more of freakshow sya talaga than an actual sport. Anything goes na lang, basta magkasakitan. Pero over the years maganda yun naging evolution nito.

Edukadong tao itong si Alvin na talagang me passion for the game.

As to these guys.... well lets hope nga if it pushes through they give this sport a lot of respect considering what it has become.

Alam mo paps, I will be lying to if I said I am not intruiged by this match up. Hopefully the URCC gives us a date. Tapos samahan ng tv time and then get it over with. Nakakamatay ang anticipation hahaha.

And speaking of Alvin Aguilar, sobrang hands on ang taong iyan. People had to pry alvin off of the poor bloke.

Or pwedeng 2 3 min round...... I wonder if this fight will go to the ground.

Si Boss Alvin, last time I heard from a former officemate ay more on coaching na lang daw sa deftac. samahan pa ng promotion ng fights. mukhang napatawad naman ng gym iyong ginawa niya sa baguio dati. that was way back 2010 or 2011.

This is upsetting, not only is he getting the fight on short notice, his opponent Brock is getting an excemption from the USADA testing. Because of some loophole in the system where you get a 4 month exception if you decide to go back to MMA after some time. Everyone knows Lesnar is juicing now he gets to fight on TRT. What a f.ucked up situation.

Mark Hunt unhappy with USADA exemption for juiced to the gills Brock Lesnar

post-481684-0-23003900-1465828204_thumb.jpg

Brock Lesnar’s return to the octagon at UFC 200 captured a lot of attention. However, once the excitement died down, some wondered if Lesnar was being held to the same standards for United States Anti-Doping Agency testing as other fighters.

Normally, a fighter would have to be available for USADA for a four month period before competing in the UFC, but the UFC is able to waive the requirement “in exceptional circumstances or where the strict application of that rule would be manifestly unfair to an Athlete.”

That was the case with Lesnar (5-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC), the WWE superstar and former UFC heavyweight champion who will return to the octagon for the first time since December 2011.

Lesnar’s opponent, Mark Hunt (12-10-1 MMA, 7-4-1 UFC), told FOX Sports Australia he isn’t happy with the exception.

“I don’t think it’s a great move,” Hunt said. “I think he’s juiced to the gills and I still think I’m going to knock him out. So I don’t think that’s correct. I don’t think he should be allowed to get a four-month exemption otherwise everyone else should. Otherwise, I should start juicing.

“How are you going to clean the sport up doing that (expletive)? It won’t happen. I don’t think it’s fair.”

Hunt said he spoke to UFC President Dana White about the situation and was told Lesnar has been receiving USADA tests recently. That still didn’t sit well with the former title challenger.

“He’s probably been off a couple of cycles anyway,” Hunt said.

Waaaaaaaaah Laki ng bilbil ni Baron Geisler.

Pucha san ba training camp ni Geisler? Sa McDonalds? Krispy Kreme?

Anak ng tinapang galunggung O!

I saw him doing his taekwondo routine, in the vid he was saying "ubos na energy ko" after ilang sipa sa heavybag.

Link to comment

Hindi ako hardcore MMA fan ha. Hangang cardio boxing nga lang ako hehehehe.

Pero ako kasi if I can take just one skillset inside an MMA cage it would be boxing na syempre. Its simple yet so practical, and as I see it, it is one mandatory arsenal for MMA practicioners.

Ang balita, si Kiko Matos daw ay more on boxing background. So I do not know kung gaano kaeffective yun taekwondo style against boxing. Muay thai siguro kasi mas rooted sya on boxing.

Plus syempre mukhang talagang out of shape pa si Baron, so kung maging grappling match ito at hindi maganda baga nya hilo sya malamang

baka bronchitis ang abutin ng dalawang iyan. huwag naman sana. kung sino man ang ref, sana magkaroon ng tamang sense para itigil ang laban kung kailangan nang itigil. but then again, this is just me talking and trying to be a know it all. malay mo in shape pala sila. eh di ako pa ang napahiya hahaha.

Pero kung me mga modelling gig sya. Malamang batak yun katawan nya sya gym. So matigas mga muscles nya.

Fedor Emelianenko says he's closer than ever to signing with the UFC

post-481684-0-28193000-1466064862_thumb.jpg

Fedor Emelianenko to the UFC? Finally? It could happen in 2016, said the man himself.

Emelianenko told Ariel Helwani on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour that he is closer than ever to signing a contract with the world's leading MMA promotion. And his next fight, after this weekend's bout under the Eurasia Fight Nights banner, could very well be in the Octagon.

"Yes," Emelianenko said through a translator. "In a word, yes. That possibility does exist."

Emelianenko will meet UFC veteran Fabio Maldonado at EFN 50 on Friday in St. Petersburg, Russia. The bout will air on UFC Fight Pass. After that, the MMA legend said he will be a free agent and ready to speak with any and all organizations. Emelianenko said he does have an offer on the table from the UFC.

"I always wanted to fight for UFC and I would fight for UFC, but at this moment we're looking at the deal and the deal has to satisfy both parties -- them and my organization," Emelianenko said. "Until there's no friction, until we are 100 percent in terms of seeing eye-to-eye, we are all basically in limbo."

Emelianenko, 39, and the UFC have negotiated multiple times, but it has never come together. There was even talks a few years ago about having Emelianenko face Brock Lesnar at Cowboys Stadium, but UFC president Dana White said Emelianenko passed on it after his father died.

Lesnar is now back in the UFC and fighting Mark Hunt at UFC 200. Emelianenko, though, said there has been no talk of that potential future matchup.

"All I wanted to say is for now we never received a proposal like that," Emelianenko said. "But if somebody were to make that proposal, we'll definitely look at it closely."

Emelianenko (35-4, 1 NC), a huge star in PRIDE and Strikeforce, went undefeated in MMA from 2000 to 2010, one of the greatest runs in the history of the sport. He is arguably the best heavyweight in MMA history and some would say he's the greatest pound-for-pound fighter of all time.

"The Last Emperor" dropped three straight to finish his Strikeforce career and then retired in 2012 after winning three in a row in Japan and Russia. Emelianenko returned to much buzz this past New Year's Eve under the Rizin Fighting Federation banner, defeating Indian kickboxing champion Jaideep Singh via first-round submission (punches). The Russian star said he felt like his old self in that bout.

"I did get that feeling," Emelianenko said. "I feel like I am back. A fighter is measured by the last fight. I'm looking forward to illustrate I am back in my usual form."

Kamil Gadzhiev, an EFN executive, appeared with Emelianenko on The MMA Hour. He said his promotion is planning on being at the negotiating table with Emelianenko after Friday. There will surely be others, too, like Bellator and Rizin.

After the bout with Maldonado, Emelianenko will be a free agent again. And once again, the MMA world will be waiting to find out whether or not a deal between the UFC and perhaps the greatest fighter ever to never have fought for the UFC can finally be hammered out.

"Right now, I'm much closer compared to when I just came back to MMA," Emelianenko said. ... "Yes, we did receive an offer. But there are some finer points that we wanted to discuss."
