Raffles Makati: All-Suite Ultra-Luxury & Butler Service

32 suites. Every guest assigned a personal butler. Daily breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails at The Writers Bar — included. Raffles Makati is the smallest of Manila's ultra-luxury hotels, the most disciplined, and the one where the affluent traveler buys not a room but a level of service.

The 32-Suite Discipline

Most luxury hotels run 200–600 rooms. Raffles Makati runs 32 suites. The number is the entire commercial proposition.

A 32-suite hotel cannot operate as a volume property. It cannot subsidize empty mid-tier rooms with high-floor suites. It cannot rely on the loyalty-program traveler for occupancy. It must, instead, deliver an experience that justifies a price point fundamentally different from the rest of the Manila luxury market — and it must deliver that experience to every guest, every stay, without exception.

The 32-suite discipline is the most ambitious operating bet of any Manila luxury hotel. Raffles Makati has been delivering on that bet since December 3, 2012.

The Raffles Heritage

The Raffles brand — now part of the Accor luxury portfolio — was born at the original Raffles Hotel Singapore in 1887. The brand's identity is anchored in the Singapore Sling (invented at the Long Bar), the literary tradition (the original Raffles hosted Somerset Maugham, Joseph Conrad, Rudyard Kipling), and the butler service standard that has carried across the brand's expansion into Hong Kong, Bali, Seychelles, Dubai, and now Makati.

Raffles Makati opened in 2012 as the brand's first Philippine property — and remains the only Raffles in the country. The hotel shares a 30-storey complex with its sister property Fairmont Makati (both operated by Accor) in Makati's Central Business District.

The All-Suite Format

Every Raffles Makati accommodation is a suite. The suite categories include:

  • Personality Suite — entry-tier, designed at a generous luxury standard
  • State Suite — upgraded suite category
  • Long Bar Suite — themed in reference to the Singapore Long Bar tradition
  • Writers Suite — themed in reference to the Raffles literary heritage
  • Presidential Suite — the signature top-floor accommodation

Each suite includes:

  • Separate living and bedroom areas
  • Marble bathroom with luxury fittings
  • The Raffles brand's signature furnishings
  • City or Makati skyline views

The smallest suite at Raffles Makati is larger than the largest standard room at most of the city's other five-stars.

The Inclusions — What's in the Suite Rate

This is the structural detail that distinguishes Raffles Makati from peer ultra-luxury properties. All suite bookings include:

  • Daily complimentary breakfast — served either in-suite or at the property's restaurants
  • Afternoon tea at The Writers Bar — the daily 3 PM ritual
  • Evening cocktails at The Writers Bar — the daily 6 PM social hour
  • Signature Raffles Butler Service — every guest, every suite, every stay

The afternoon-tea-and-cocktail inclusions effectively eliminate the need to make outside dining bookings for two of the day's social windows. The Writers Bar becomes — for repeat guests — the hotel's central social anchor, where the affluent guests in residence cross paths daily.

The Butler Service

Every Raffles Makati guest is assigned a personal butler — a dedicated staff member who manages:

  • The arrival process (private check-in, luggage handling, suite orientation)
  • In-suite preferences (room scents, beverage stocking, pillow preferences)
  • Dining and spa reservations
  • Local recommendations and arrangements
  • The departure process (transportation coordination, luggage handling)

The butler service is not a concierge function. It is a dedicated personal staff member who treats the guest as their sole responsibility for the duration of the stay. For affluent guests who have experienced butler service at international ultra-luxury properties (Aman, Six Senses, the original Raffles Singapore), this is the recognizable register.

The Dining

While suite bookings include breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails, Raffles Makati and the connected Fairmont Makati operate a substantial dining program available à la carte:

  • The Writers Bar — the property's iconic social space, anchoring the afternoon tea and cocktail program
  • Spectrum (shared with Fairmont Makati) — the all-day international buffet, one of the more-celebrated Makati hotel buffets, with Western, Chinese, Japanese, and Mediterranean stations
  • Mireio — the French Provençal restaurant
  • Long Bar Manila — the cocktail bar referencing the Singapore Sling heritage

The Long Bar is the signature dining-and-drinking experience — a direct reference to the Raffles Singapore tradition, with the Singapore Sling on the menu and the brand's literary heritage in the design vocabulary.

The Spa

The Willow Stream Spa is shared between Raffles Makati and Fairmont Makati — a substantial spa facility calibrated to the Accor luxury portfolio's wellness standard.

The Service Code

Raffles Makati's service is, by Manila luxury standards, the most-elevated and most-personalized. The combination of the 32-suite scale, the butler assignment, and the included social programming produces a hotel experience that operates at a register fundamentally different from the volume luxury properties.

For affluent guests who have stayed at the original Raffles Singapore, Raffles Hong Kong (Le Royal), Raffles Dubai, or Raffles Bali, the Manila property delivers the same service standard at a different price point — the Manila pricing is meaningfully more accessible than the Singapore or Dubai equivalents.

When to Stay

Raffles Makati operates year-round at a relatively stable occupancy — the 32-suite scale means the property is regularly booked but not subject to the volume booking pressures of larger peers. Holy Week and Christmas-New Year are the peak windows.

For the butler service experience, the recommended stay is 3+ nights — the value of the dedicated personal staff increases with the duration, and the butler relationship develops meaningfully over multiple nights.

Getting There

  • Makati CBD — the property's address, walking distance to Greenbelt, Glorietta, One Ayala
  • MRT Ayala station → 8–12 minutes walk
  • NAIA → 20–35 minutes via Skyway
  • BGC → 10–15 minutes via Kalayaan or McKinley
  • Ortigas → 15–25 minutes
