Duterte's Presidency : Expectations, Controversies, Rants, Etc.

Recommended Posts

I do not think the EJK per se is the cause of foreign investor apprehension. It is more likely the off-shoot of President Duterte's OA defense of EJK in the country, to the point of insulting and threatening to cut ties with Western powers. I believe the War on Drugs and EJK could have been conducted with less international scrutiny had Big Mouth Digong focused less on his hurt ego. Instead, his headline-grabbing rants invited more international scrutiny of his War on Drugs. Now, instead of the Drug Problem, he has successfully exacerbated the problem to include the nation's security and economic future.

Instead of a well-planned approach to our security and economic concerns, the Duterte cabinet is forced to react to Digong's abrupt policy decisions. Tapos pabago-bago pa yung sinasabi ni lolo. Tsk.

Putting the blame solely on the country's deficient infrastructure for foreign investor apprehension, given that we all live here in the Philippines, is to put blinders on what has just happened in the last 100 days of the Duterte Presidency regarding our relations with other countries. The past administrations suffered the same problem of infrastructure deficiencies yet managed to attract investments and grow the economy.

duterte is only running his mouth against the western powers.... why? because he has to please china.... he does not want to be a lapdog of US and the west,.... but is willing to be the bitch of china.

US and the west is reacting by giving him more bad publicity. they are the real enemy of this government, the yellows are just on the sideline waiting for the opportunity for them to grab to get back in power.

will duterte last long? is his kiss china's ass policy good for us?

wait and see na lang tayo.

'Worst airport' no more? What changed in NAIA in first 100 days

http://www.rappler.com/newsbreak/iq/148958-naia-airport-improvement-100-days?utm_content=buffer2586c&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Positive feedback

Among netizens, the common sentiment was happy surprise. They reported a smooth and fast experience throughout the entire process: from landing at the airport, to retrieving their bags, even to getting a ride home.

"The place no longer reeked of 'den of thieves.' No one was making parinig about lagay(comments about bribes) nor did I feel that I was prey in a lion's lair about to be eaten up alive," wrote Lorraine Badoy in a Facebook post.

Less delays

But for some netizens, the biggest change in the airport came in the form of flights that departed and arrived on time. It's a big challenge for NAIA, which sees hundreds of thousands of passengers every month in each of its 4 terminals.

According to the airlines, they used to average 40% on-time performance on domestic flights. But Monreal said that since implementing various measures to address congestion at the airport, it went up to almost 80% on-time performance.

IMO most changes na nakita ko are cosmetic lang. Lalo na sa NAIA 1. Bagong pintura, bagong tiles, etc. So parang bagong hilamos yun airport.

Anong klaseng manager yan?

in fairness kay Pnoy, nagkaroon ng 24 hour shifting ng prosecutors at PAO sa NAIA during that time.

Agot Isidro has the right to speak her mind! And masasabi nyo bang mali lahat ng sinabi nya? Condemning her for having the courage to speak out something she believes in?

We still live in a democracy last I checked. While I admired Mocha and the other Duterte FB groups during the campaign period, now Im beginning to them as such a nuisance and tools for brainwashing! Pag nagsalita ka ng maganda at pabor ke Duterte wow ampogi mo sa ipopost nila about you and sa sinabi mo. Pero if that same person bigla nagsalita ng against sa even isa lang na polisiya ni Duterte, wow uli, napakasama mo na sa susunod na post nila at hahalungkatin mga nakaraan mo and fafabricate-an ka pa ng bago.

I agree with Taberna na purihin kung tama and punahin kung mali, and Lacson, for saying that we don't have to alienate somebody to gain somebody else's friendship, and sometimes ke Gordon on certain issues, like when he said Duterte falls on his own sword everytime he speaks too much. I agree with P. Duterte that drugs must be stopped and eradicated. I agree on most of what he's doing for the country and I admire his love for the Filipinos in general. What I definitely do not agree on is sa mga fanatics na wala ng sinabing mali si Pres. Duterte para sa kanila. Na lahat ng sabihin nya ay tama however contrary to their initial beliefs. This fanaticism is very similar to Germany's Nationalist Socialism later more commonly known as Nazism.

Do not be blind followers.

Sa muli inuulit ko, maka-Duterte din ako at member ng F.O.R.D (Friends of Rody Duterte) during the campaign period. But I am not and will never be a blind follower.

Im starting to like PDU30, not because may nagawa na sya agad whatsoever, he is starting to re build the philippines with his visions that we were never exposed before, Just like being serious with illegal drugs, getting rid of this pest in our society . Dati problema lang ng gobyerno eh Jueteng. Dati akala ko bisyo lang ang drugs, pero ngayon big business na talaga. some people i know even left their legit jobs to become dealers, sadly 3 of them are already dead. If the killings bothers us, i will not put the blame on the president. I know that most dealers have guns, a security or panakot na lokohin sila ng ka deal. sino bang pulis ang gustong maunahan? I thought shabu is not doing serious harm to the user, but sadly its effect is so destructive to families and the community. the user is doomed and stops caring for others and dies early or jailed. With this reason alone i will not rant on this issue. Ikaw gusto mong magshabu ang anak mo?Gusto mo bang madaming addict na kapitbahay?. If this problem will not stop mas madami pang pusher kesa sari sari store sa lugar nyo. I know because i live in a drug infested community.

But last week, biglang dumating ang police car sakay ang 2 policemen, I don't know what is their purpose.

SA amin once na nagkaroon ng tokhang and 2 are killed and many are in hiding since they go after the repeat offenders after they did the Oplan Tokhang.

Philippine Stocks Surge Most in Asia Amid Duterte’s China Trip

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-10-18/philippine-stocks-surge-most-in-asia-amid-duterte-s-china-trip

Philippine stocks advanced the most in five months amid optimism that President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit to China will improve relations and yield a raft of business deals.

The Philippine Stock Exchange Index rose 2.9 percent to 7,571.15 at the close of trading in Manila at 3:30 p.m. local time, the steepest gain since May 11. SM Prime Holdings Inc., which has malls in the Philippines and China, jumped 6.5 percent, while restaurant operator Jollibee Foods Corp. added 4 percent.

There is optimism that the pivot to China will yield results,” said James Lago, head of research at PCCI Securities Brokers Corp. in Manila.“The Philippine market is also at such oversold levels already that valuations are now more reasonable.”

If they arrest or disperse them magkakasakitan pa rin. Mukhang puro palaban yung mga rallyista ang they didn't come in peace kaya nga ready yung mga gamit nila.

Duterte: I have separated from them (United States). So I will be dependent on you (China) for all time."

Whatever happened to the independent foreign policy and the removal of our so-called culture of mendicancy?

Am I misunderstanding or taking anything out of context here? Figure of speech? Hyperbole?
