@reachard: Bro, I was in Filbar's Riverbanks, Marikina yesterday afternoon.. I forgot to tell you yesterday that they have a complete run (daw) on the XMen: Messiah Complex storyline.. Medyo mahal na yata ang bentahan nila dun sa first part - around Php300 (variant cover ni Silvestri), at merong isang 2nd print (XFactor yata) na andun sa set - wala na daw mahanap na first print eh.. Just check it out, bro.. Sayang ito, bro.. Hanapin mo si Jun-Jun (except on Mondays) kung mapapadaan ka..

 

@khumpleetist/others: Update ka naman kung ano ano ang mga titles na kinukuha mo sa ngayon and titles that you plan to get.. I want to find out kung meron akong importanteng title that I am leaving out.. haha..

Some thoughts to share lang, bro..

 

I have decided to get Xmen: Legacy, bro.. I've decided to get this coz I think the upcoming story will be a major storyline of the XMen after Messiah, much like Uncanny's "Divided We Stand.." Small question, are all the titles (slated by Marvel) really necessary in the aftermath of Messiah? I mean, I don't think that X-factor and Wolverine as necessary tie-ins eh.. Sabi kasi sa ign.com hindi magiging cross-over ito eh.. For now, I think I would only get Legacy, Uncanny and XForce.. Young Xmen I would definitely get because it might just be a violent "New Mutants" comicbook.. haha..

 

I am currently getting Green Lantern only, and not the Corps.. But I have reserved a copy of GL Corps #20 coz I feel that it might escalate in value (2nd printing na nga ito eh).. Medyo mukhang mahaba-haba yung Mongul storyline eh, so I just decided to get the first issue na lang instead of getting the whole arc.. I feel that the Alpha Lanterns storyline would be more important for next year's Blackest Night storyline.. But I am tempted to get the whole Mongul arc as well.. Para ngang gusto ko ito ituloy eh.. hahaha...

 

Instead of Zorro, bro.. I am thinking of getting "The Man with No Name.." (based on Clint Eastwood's The Good, The bad and the Ugly).. Kasi mukhang ito yung first comicbook appearance/adaptation ng character na ito.. Ewan ko nga lang kung kailan ito lalabas..

1986, bro? Wow! That means you had comics in the Bronze Age (late 70's)? Those are the comics that I really want.. Especially Marvel stuff.. Ang gaganda ng mga storylines nun ng Spiderman, Daredevil at Xmen..

 

Well, in my case, I started reading them in 1983 (Grade three ako) and stopped at around 1987 (High School).. But because of budget constraints hindi madami ang comics ko.. And all are dilapidated, coz I never knew that comics (even imported ones) should be taken cared of because its value can escalate.. Kaya ayun, may mga pangalan at tape on the spine mga comics ko na binili ko when I was younger.. hahaha..

 

I collected them again voraciously in 1991 up to 1996.. And stopped at around 96-97 after I got tired of the "lame" stories in Spiderman and X-Men (e.g., Clone Saga and the Onslaught Saga of Marvel).. Even DC had stupid storylines like the Death of Clark Kent, the stupid Terminal Velocity in Flash.. Wala naman talagang major na nangyayari sa mga comics nun, when I stopped.. Kaya hindi ko nakuha yung Ultimate Spiderman at Ultimates.. Sayang coz the first issues of Ultimate Spiderman is really pretty expensive now..

 

I decided to come back when I saw Marvel's House of M.. I back-tracked a little bit to get some storyarcs like Hush, JLA/Avengers, Avengers Disassembled, New Avengers: Breakout, etc.. Nagagandahan din ako sa mga storyarcs ngayon eh, so I decided to stick around.. And boy! Masaya talaga ako sa nakikita ko.. except for the One More Day saga of Spiderman, which really broke my heart.. haha..

 

The Sinestro Corps, the Messiah Complex, even the Xmen's Fall and Rise of the Shi'ar Empire were wonderful reads.. This is the time to get excited for comics.. I just hope tuloy tuloy na ang mga wonderful storyarcs that matter at hindi maging puros art lang ang maganda (kamukha nung mid-90's)..

Yeah, 1997-1998 really sucked for mainstream comics. I remember that was around the time I also quit because of the horrible storylines. Onslaught was pretty interesting for the first 3 or 4 issues. But after that, it was all downhill. And the Marvel storylines after Onslaught were just mind-numbingly boring. No direction whatsover (Heroes Reborn, Heroes Return, Operation Zero Tolerance....all rubbish!) DC at the time had some decent storylines, but the art was just pathetic. It was like they were intentionally getting sub-par artists.

 

I only started collecting comics again because of Grant Morisson's run on X-men and Alan Moore's ABC comics (Top Ten!). Thank God Marvel finally came to their senses and pirated DC Vertigo's best writers (Milligan, Morisson, Ennis, Ellis, Vaughan, Carey, Brubaker, etc.) I've been enjoying Brubaker and Rucka's run on the Batman titles, but suddenly DC f*(%$ things up with Hush, Infinite Crisis and 52. I'm hoping Grant Morisson save the DC Universe from itself and from its editors when he finishes Final Crisis. I've really enjoyed his work on All-Star Superman. But what I really want is for him to FINISH his long-delayed Authority.

@revi: Dami nga eh, pero sana maging kagaya ko si maznger na 5 titles lang pero lilimitahan ko to 10 titles including limited series/arcs. Tama ka dun sa Kiss 4K # 1, sila yung banda. Actually, mid last year pa ata lumabas yung issue # nito pero itong inorder ko eh "Destroyer Edition". 3 feet high to at asa Guiness as World's Largest Comicbook. Kumuha ako kasi 300 per variant lang daw ang naprint at 4 variants lang ata ito. Ipapaframe ko pag nakuha ko.

 

Susundan ko yung Divided We Stand pati mga tie-ins pero yung "Divided We Stand" eh sa Uncanny X-Men lalabas at may dalawang issue na limited series. Susundan ko yung Cable pero titingnan ko pa din yung first arc kung maganda.

Pareho halos tayo ng history. Nung elementary, highschool at college eh bumibili din ako kaso sobrang dalang nung elementary at higschool kasi hindi sapat ang allowance. Hindi ko rin naalagaan, sayang nga eh. Mas naging madalas ang pagbili ko nung college at may mga issues ako na konektado sa Clone Saga. Nagustuhan ko yung storya siguro kasi eh nung college pa lang napapadalas ang mga binibili ko pero kung matagal na akong nagbabasa eh malamang hindi ko rin magugustuhan.

 

2005 din ako nagbalik comics at House Of M ang inumpisahan ko. Hindi nga lang ako nag back-track pero paminsan minsan may nabibili akong mga key issues (back issue). Nag-eenjoy ako for the past 2 years at excited sa mga lalabas pang storylines! :thumbsupsmiley:

Dami nga, magastos naman. Gusto nga kitang gayhain eh pero maglilimit ako hanggang 10 titles, siguro pag natapos ko muna yung mga current issues ko. Bakit mo pinamigay? Asan yung para sa amin? D bale bro, madalas yang ganyang storya ng mga koleksyon, di ka nag-iisa. :flowers:

It's very rare that I check online version of a comic maybe because I can't find the sites. Hehehe. But honestly, even if I find them I won't read the latest issue. I'd probably read previous issues but not the lates one para di ako ma-spoil especially if I'll get the comic. But soft copies are very good for reading back issues. Larry posted a link on another thread and I've read some.

 

I don't know what's in store w/JLA Frontier. I even thought this is connected w/Justice League Unlimited because of the cartoony cover. Any idea?

Ala pa akong alam sa comics nun so pag gusto ko lang yung title or cover yun lang pinabibili ko like yung Fatal Attraction kasi may hologram haha

 

During high school nag focus na lang ako sa action figures and then nung college nag Avalon ako "Stone and Wetworks" dahil kay Whilce Portacio, even got Lady Death, Fathom and Witchblade..before I forgot yung WWF titles like Stone Cold haha comedy talaga. Then ayun priority ko talaga was action figures then nung nag work FHM and UNO Magazine tapos last year lang ulit ako nag decide to prioritize comics kasi I got a Infinity War and Secret War set from ebay and then ayun pa lagi akong nagpupunta sa thread na to so ayun nagenganyo na din ako bumalik mag comics and gave up my action figures collections. Kaya right now comics and Men's magz ako haay tapos backtrack nang mga past issues that I missed

 

So far I'm happy naman sa pagbalik sa comics as a hobby.
