hahaha.. East to West ka pala ha? Saan yun? haha.. Dito ako sa Good Life pumupunta.. I try to visit once every month kaso minsan dahil sa limited time (and budget-haha!), once every two months na ako nakakapunta.. hahaha.. Sarap pa-massage eh.. Hmmm...

 

Going back to Batman, I believe that Didio feels that Batman needs some spicing up.. I also think that they decided to "k*ll" Wayne because they want a new, but familiar title to come to life.. Enter: Batman and Robin.. Its a jumping point for new fans who are not familiar with what has happened I guess.. Malay natin na kung bumalik man si Wayne eh pabayaan na niya na merong bagong Bats.. In the first place, if Grayson becomes the new Bats, Wayne would be happy to retire and just watch from the sidelines.. Who knows what Morrison is thinking and planning.. Right?

 

Hindi ko pa nababasa Battle for the Cowl #1.. Still re-reading Watchmen, bro.. Tsaka na siguro muna yan at gusto ko na mapanood yung movie.. nyahaha!!!

 

 

Hahaha! Sa Quezon Ave. po ito. Malapit po sa may tapat ng Starbucks. Advice ko lang po na kung pupunta kayo doon, mag-kotse po kayo or mag-taxi; Wala po kasing pedestrain lane, eh - patintero po talaga sa mga sasakyan ang laro 'pag wala po kayong ride. I learned that the hard way. I just bought some comics from Comic Odyssey (Dark Avengers #1 - Blank Variant & #2 Tsaka Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader) nung mag-text friend ko, sabi magpapa-massage daw s'ya. Pagbaba namin ng bus, ayun, susme, patintero at panay senyas namin ng "sandali" sa mga dumadaan. Alalay ako sa bag ko nun kasi wala akong dalang plastic folder para sa mga comics ko. Mukha tulyo akong tanga. Parang mas ingat pa ko sa comics kesa sa buhay ko, eh. Hehehe. Nung napuntahan ko 'yung place, :boo:. Wow. Tsalap!!! Wi-hi!!!

 

 

Back to comics: Napa-isip po ako sa sinabi n'yo na if ever bumalik si Wayne, pabayaan n'ya si Dick and Damian. Wow. What a title -"Dick & Damian." Hehe. Parang Batman Beyond lang. Pero ayus 'din po kung ganun. Fresh. May pagka-snubby borderline assh*le kasi si Bruce kung minsan, eh. Sana mag-work 'yung dynamics ng bagong team.

Got my comics at Comic Odyssey yesterday (I also bought some back issues at 50% off - will post pics later).. And I browsed my copy of Battle for the Cowl.. It really looks like Nightwing will be the next Bats, unless DC does something that is out of the ordinary in the next 2 issues.. Anyhow, it seems like Damian is submissive to Dick Grayson, huh? Siguro dahil utang na loob din niya kay Dick ang buhay niya sa Rise of Ra's Al Ghul storyline..

As I have promised, I'd like to share my recent hauls at Comic Odyssey's sale yesterday..

 

First is this Jim Lee signed Superman comicbook (DF certified!).. Been contemplating on getting this since last year.. Good thing nobody wanted it.. And because it was at 30% off, I gladly took it off Sandy's display rack yesterday.. haha.. Here are the pics..

Kamusta naman po ang mga conditions? Condition sensitive po ba kayo ' pagdating sa comics?...

 

Sa CO lang talaga ako nakakakita ng mga OLD issues na ganyan. Sa CQ at FilBar's kasi puro mga bago-bago na, eh. Nagpupunta pa po ba kayo ng FilBar's? Para kasing Book Sale na kasi ang dating sakin tsaka ang daming bootleg items kaya medyo na-turn-off ako. Pero MEDYO good thing lang kasi 'di masyadong maalam ang staff ang variant cover nila -'yung chase variants- akala nila ka-prseyo lang ng regular issues kaya makakuha ka ng mura: presyong regular din. Na-experience ko ito sa Festival Branch.

 

Sa CQ naman, may mga adult items ka na mabibili like works by Milo Manara, Luis Royo and other Heavy Metal ( and other Sex-Heavy Books) tsaka adult manga.

 

Alam n'yo po 'yung 8 Wizards na comics shop sa Alabang pati 'yung "Druids" something na comic shop daw sa may Magallanes? Dun daw po kasi bumibili ng comics ang mga pinoy comics stars, eh (The GlassHouse boys). Tsaka daw po sobrang mura dun. Pinaka-mura sa lahat ng shops sa 'Pinas. 'yun ang sabi...

I am not very condition sensitive sa mga comics ko.. For me, as long as the pages are complete and the comic is not in the process of decaying, I'd gladly buy it kung mura.. I love Silver Age Books and that is what I usually look for kapag tumitingin ako sa mga bargain bins.. Or sa mga Conventions..

 

Madami-dami na din akong nabili na Silver Age since I started to look for them two years ago.. Meron kasing kakilala ang friend ko na mayaman na Fil-Chi who is now in the process of disposing all of his comics.. Karamihan Silver Age.. Before he has some stuff at Filbars Riverbanks, kaso ngayon wala na.. Nakakuha ako dun ng Jonah Hex #1 and ilang mga old from Marvel and DC.. Tig-50 bucks lang yun..

 

He had a booth in last year's Toy Con sa Mega, and I really hauled a lot of stuff from him.. Dala ko yung trusted Comic Book Price Guide ko para makita ko yung mga First Appearances and issues that matter.. Sa kanya ko nakuha yung Conan issue na first appearance ni Red Sonja.. If I would rate the comics, I'd say na nasa 6 ang grade ng karamihan.. Not bad for 50 bucks, eh?

Maswerte ako at nakakuha ako ng Alex Ross variant nun sa ibang branch nila.. But sa ngayon, kunin ko na sa CO yung 2nd installment nun sa Detective.. Mahirap na..

 

Ang difference lang kasi ay friends ko yung mga tindera sa Filbars coz I have consignments there (I sell my double NBA Cards there).. Kaya nauuna ako sa mga comics.. Basta meron, akin na yun.. Pati back-issues nila ako din nauuna.. At yun ang #1 dun dahil after 6 months nung issue, on-sale na lahat comics nila.. More than half ang bagsak ng presyo..$3.99 - 75 pesos na lang at yung $2.99 nasa 50 pesos na lang.. Would you believe that I got a Hulk #1 (Rulk's first appearance) & Kick Ass #1 for 50 bucks each doon..

 

Therefore, to cut the story short, I buy my comics at both CO and Filbars.. Mostly indies and variants sa COyung mga pwedeng wala sa Filbars.. Sa Filbars naman yung mga regular titles ko like New Avengers at kung swertihan ay yung ibang variants dahil mura doon.. Good shot naman ako in both stores eh.. At meron silang parehong strengths and weaknesses.. But if you ask me, iba talaga ang service ng CO.. Kasi accurate ang re-orders nila.. Kulitin mo lang si Sandy.. hahaha.. :thumbsupsmiley:

Comic Quest in Mega or North Edsa are my last resorts if I can't get a copy at both Filbars and CO.. Their comics kasi are expensive and they do not really offer good services (not boarded and bagged for one)..

 

Druid's and 8 Wizards? Hmmm.. Hindi ko alam yung 8 Wizards.. At wala akong balak pumunta in both stores.. Kasi malayo sila dito sa Marikina.. I feel that the reason why these shops are clicking is because of the yuppies who live near the area coz I feel that CO and the stores you mentioned offer the same services.. Para ngang wala man silang back-issues eh.. And re-ordering is also not offered.. Kaso meron yata silang mga graded books at yun ang gusto kong makita..

Bro, if you are interested in getting cheap Old Comicbooks, I also suggest looking at bargain bins kahit pa sa Book Sale.. I got a 300 #3 sa Book Sale na $10 at rare find.. Just browse, malay mo makakita ka.. At kapag may Toy Con, punta ka dahil madami dun na murang magbenta ng comics.. Its nice to invest in comics nowadays, kasi hindi masyadong malaki ang interest ng mga tao dito ngayon (compared to the comic-boom in the 90's), so mas madaling makakuha at makamura.. I feel that issues of these times have good storylines that can escalate in the price guide in a few years.. Tapos back issues are kinda cheap.. Time to invest as long as you have some resources to spend.. :thumbsupsmiley:

Sir, yung Fil-Chi po ba na tinutukoy n'yo ay 'yung may mga back-issues from DELL and other really old publishers (na 'yung iba po ay wala na ngayon)? Last time po kasi na nag-punta po ako ng ToyCon, andun s'ya at kinuha ko 'yung number n'ya kaso naman 'di ko pa kaya mag-shopping spree since I'm in college pa po. 'pag dating pa naman sa comics, eh may pagka-impulse buyer at hoarder ako. Hehehe. Hopefully, when I graduated, mabubuhos ko na talaga ang oras ko sa pagko-comics. Ang hirap kasi humingi ng humingi ng pera sa nanay at tatay ko, eh. Puros nalang daw ako comics, toys, DVDs at kung ano-ano pa. Tinatamaan na ko ng hiya. Hehehe. Super Limited sa budget, hirap maging estudyante. Hay!

 

Sinuwerte lang ako na con is Hero Con (aka: Hataw Hanep Hero). Nakuha ko ang 52 for 15 Pesos each. And really really nice condition, 9.6 at worse kaso 'do ko pa din kompleto. Tapos mga old Marvel trading cards still in packs. 'yung gawa po ng Impel at SkyBox. 15 Pesos each! 'di ko pa nga po binubuksan, eh.

 

Sir, sa Planet X po sa Glorietta 3 po may mga CGC-graded books po kung gusto n'yo po makakita.

 

Memeber 'din po ako ng Filbar's, eh. Pero 'di ko alm kung bakit 'di na ko pumupunta dun. Dati talaga 'pag comics ang usapan, sa FilBar's at CQ ako dinadala ng parents ko. Minsan nung early 90's during my pre-school and elementary years sa Book Sale sa may Cherry Foodarama. And gaganda ng condition. 'di ko pa po alam 'yung mga grading terms, talagang sensitive na ko sa conditions. Bata pa ako 'pag may nanghihiram ng mga Archie comics ko talagang sinasabi ng maraming beses na "Ingatan mo 'yan, ha? 'di ka na makaka-ulit 'pag may kahit anong damage akong nakita!" Tapos nung unang nakahawak ako ng Wizard in '96, nabasa ko dun 'yung grading terms at handling of comics lalo akong naging sensitive. Pero ngayon, tanggap ko na mahirap humanap ng perfect book. Kasi papel lang at galing pa ng US tapos hubad na darating sa shops kaya 'di na ko naging metikuloso. Pero dati nung super active pa ako sa comics in 2003 to 2005, talagang bago ilagay sa shelves ng Comic Quest pinapili muna ako ng mga ate na sales clerk. Ngayon, iniipit ko sa mga Collier's Encyclopedia para mawala 'yung mga dents, bends at maging totally flat. Sabi ko na nga ba at may silbi 'yung mga encyclopedia namin, eh. Hehehe. Tapos 'pag may creases, color touch with my Prang and Faber-Castell Non-Toxic water colors and colored pencils. Hahaha. may article kasi sa Wizard at sa 'net (nalimutan ko 'yung page, eh) kung paano mag-repair and restore ng comics kaya 'yun. Pero don't get the wrong idea na I'm more of a collector or worse, speculator 'pag dating sa comics. Reader for life ako syempre. :heart:

 

Sa BookSale po ako ngayon bumibili ng mga trades. Sa may Pedro Gil sa Manila branch po nakabili po ako ng DMZ, Superman: Imperiex Saga, The Dead Enders (Ed Brubaker's first Vertigo book), pati mga Star Wars at CrossGen trades for only 150 Pesos. 'yung mga singles po ay 20 Pesos lang. Nakabili nga po ako dun ng mga Convention Exclusives, SketchBook Editions, Chromium Covers at mga Video Game Mail-In Exclusives for 20 Pesos! :thumbsupsmiley: Pero syempre, Tag price stickers are a bitch to dealt with! Wala naman kasing mabili na Stcker remover sa mga National Bookstrore at mga ACE Hardware dito satin, eh. Kaya kailangan pang ipadala ng kamag-anak from the US.

 

Regarding 8 Wizards, super mura po talaga. Dun ko nabili ang Wolverine: Origins #1 (Micheal Turner variant cover) for only 150 Pesos compared to CQ's 180 Pesos.

 

Druids naman po, 'di pa ako nakakapunta dun pero balita ko po, mas-mura daw po sila ng 20 to 30 pesos compared to CQ, CO, Planet X at Filbar's. How did they do it? Why is their price sooo low? I don't know. Hehehe.

Yes, sir. 8 Wizards' location ay 'yung dating FilBar's po. Set up? Hurm... Ganun din po, eh. Minana lang po nila 'yung sa FilBar's. Halos walang pagba-bago. Hubad din po 'yung books gaya sa CQ at FB. Pero mas mura po compared to CQ and FB. Ang board and bag combo po ay 10 Pesos.

 

Naku, 'wag naman sana April Fool's act ang release date ng Flash Rebirth at medyo bad trip pa ako sa kanila gawa ng Final Crisis. Hehehe...

I do get a small discount at Comic Odyssey.. Sa Filbar's mura ang multiplier dun ng comics.. Tapos may 10% pa ako dun.. So yung $2.99 nila ay nasa Php150 dapat, at nakukuha ko lang yun sa Php135.. Sa Odyssey kasi nasa Php175 yata o Php180 tapos may 10% sila na binibigay sa akin.. The way I see it, pinakamura ang Filbars kung member ka dun..

The Fil-Chi, I am referring to is Albert Gan.. He is a friend of one of my friends who rented a stall sa Toy Con.. Kaya naipakilala niya ako dun.. Kung siya yung nakuhanan mo ng number, sayang yun dapat bumili ka.. He sells his comics very cheap.. Kumbaga ay pang-estudyante ang dating, hahaha..

 

When I was at your age, my mom and dad would buy me comicbooks, but that is it.. Hindi ko na matuloy sa toys, tapes and stuff.. But I do buy tapes and CD's of my fave bands then.. Kaso definitely, wala akong NBA cards nun.. Pag may work ka na, diyan lalo dadami koleksyon mo.. Right now, I collect all that you collect (comics, DVDs and some toys), kaso hindi ko iniinda ang gastos dun.. Sa cards ako nabibigatan talaga.. Kaya dun ako nag-tra-try na mag-lie-low..

 

Mas ayaw ko nangyari sa SI than sa FC.. Although, it paved the way for the Dark Avengers, maybe its because I find the Skrulls lame.. hahaha..

 

@ryan69: Ang mahal pala ng back-issues sa States.. $25 yung Daredevil #1 ni Kevin Smith? I always thought that the issues there aren't priced that much.. Half of the price guide ang naiisip ko.. BTW, I have that issue (bought it when it came out).. And I can't believe that it went up the price guide.. haha.. :thumbsupsmiley: Its one of the issues that I bought before I decided to quit collecting.. Kaya na-miss out ko yung Ultimate Spiderman..

Ewan ko lang pero hindi naman talaga mas mura sa Druid's Keep kasi bumili din ako dun ng isang beses at pareho lang ng presyo sa CO pero baka nga mas mura pag regular ka don. Pero dun ako bumili ng 2nd edition ng Vertigo Tarot eh super baba talaga, kahit may discount pa sa CO eh mas mababa pa rin sa Druid's. Sa Druid's ako bumibili ng comic boxes kasi madalang magkaroon sa CO. Sa CO eh "mukha" ngang madalas diyan yung mga taga Glass House kasi yung may ari eh may mga nakadisplay na mga art at pag may mga customer dito eh madalas pag-usapan yung art as in yung original art saka mga toys (figures, statues, & etc). Nga pala, ok yung first issue ng Battle For The Cowl kaso parang di bagay kay Nightwing na magseryoso. Nga pala, pag comic hunting pag-uusapan eh si revi ang isa sa mga kakilala ko na swerte pagdating diyan. :cool:

Hay naku, layo ng lakaran makatipid lang. Hehehe. I collected Ultimate Spider-Man before. I started at issue 13. Talagang prized ko 'yung mga 'yun. Kaso tinigil ko nung pinatay si Gwen ni Carnage. Bigla ako nalungkot, eh. I dropped it after that acr and I never looked back. I love Gwen. :cry:

Kaso I heard that sa Druid's 100 bucks lang mga ganung boxes.. But I could never go to Magallanes, I hate Makati due to the traffic, bro.. hahaha..

Gwen? Who doesn't love Gwen.. But I hated it when Marvel destroyed the idea that Osborn killed her.. And she had babies of Norman? When I look back at Spiderman, I really hate Marvel for destroying its continuity.. Ngayon, pati marriage niya with Mary Jane ay nawala.. @uck them!

Sana nga maging kakaiba ang storyline sa Batman.. I also hope that they won't repeat the same mistakes they did on the Knightfall series.. I vote against the idea of JPV/Azrael of being the next Batman.. That would be overkill after Knightfall.. With Grant Morrison at the writing helm in "Batman and Robin," baka naman mas maganda ang kalabasan dito in the long run..

Hehehe. Speaking of Harvey eh asa CO siya nung Sabado (03/14) at may dinala lang ata pero sandali lang ako at nung umalis ako eh andun pa din siya. Madalas kong makita sa Druid's eh si Carlo Pagulayan at si Jeff Huet. Dito ko din unang nakita si Harvey Tolibao pati yung colorist na si Jay Ramos (see Young Avengers Presents #2) at naalala ko pa na isinama ni Harvey yung Druid's Keep at si Lex (Druid's Keep owner) sa Ultimate X-Men #93 kaya malamang eh dito nga tambay yung mga taga Glass House.

 

Yung pagka emo ni Dick kasi eh parang sumobra base kay Robin kaya parang hindi bagay. :thumbsdownsmiley:

Sa tingin ko eh yung mga box sa CO eh parang extra lang nilang nakukuha. Kumbaga eh hindi talaga sila umo-order pero malay natin. Hindi ko pa nakita ng husto yung sinasabi mo sa Filbar's pero nakausap ko yung may-ari ng DK at naitanong ko yung binebenta sa Filbar's eh sabi niya yung pinagawaan daw niya ng mga boxes niya eh gumawa ng sariling production at binebenta/pinapa-consign sa Filbar's. Yung regular version (much like CO's boxes pero syempre sturdier) lang ata ito at hindi yung de hila na version. Speaking of de hila version eh baka idispose ko yung sa akin (may 3 ata ako) at papalitan ko na lang ng regular version, baka gusto mo bro? Sana maganda in total. So far, gusto ko 'yung takbo. It really takes place after R.I.P. and not FC, the feel at least in my opinion.

Kaya medyo pinag-iisipan ko ang Bad Dog.. Masaya ang comic-series na ito, but its hard-line comedy does not really suit me that much.. Will have to re-think on Bad Dog.. Tapos parang maganda pa itong Church of Hell, Simon Bisley ba naman.. Haay! Gastos na naman!
