blow_gobi Posted September 10, 2011 Share Posted September 10, 2011 (edited) Interesting line-up for the U-23 team for the Southeast Asian Games in Nov - about half a dozen from Azkals (Jason de Jong, Neil Etheridge, etc.); half to a dozen from UAAP, Visayas and UFL teams (Yannick Tuazon, Hartmann, etc.); and haf a dozen recruits from abroad (Simon Greatwich, etc.). The team that will play for Lo Teng Cup will be half-Azkals and half U-23 The Philippines is aiming for a medal finish for the first time since SEA Games were held about 40 years ago! Kung manalo ang Smart Gilas sa Jordan baka mauna pa sila sa Olympics. A lot of people are misguided that you need height to win in basketball. You have to consider that the US team had to make some adjustments on their roster in order to keep pace with the european and latin american teams. AS for the Azkals. Good luck. Hopefully, they can beat Korea, China, and Japan to qualify for the Olympics or the world cup. Quote Link to comment

blow_gobi Posted October 6, 2011 Share Posted October 6, 2011 The U23 team seems to be facing a tough challenge achieving the target of a medal finish in the SE Asian Games because it's bracketed in the "Group of Death" along with Vietnam (runner-up the last SEAG), Singapore (bronze medalist) and Thailand (13-time champion).
