Spyke Duhdley
Boxing has run out of marquee athletes that headline the sport. If you look down the roster of today's champions, do people even know who they are? E.g. who is the heavyweight champion of the world now? Some Russian guy whose name I can't even pronounce correctly. Names like Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Roy jones Jr, De LA hoya etc.. The only marquee boxers we have are pacquiao and mayweather. That's it. There's no excitement to look forward to when you watch other weight classes. They don't market & promote their boxers properly, that's why MMA is kicking boxing on their behind when it comes to PPV revenues. Its sad at the same time tragic for Boxing. Quote Link to comment
ADAM
No. MMA is not killing boxing, and boxing is not killing MMA. They are two distinct sports that should be appreciated differently. Following boxing since the Duran-Hagler-Leonard-Hearns days. MMA, since i first saw Pedro Rizzo. And yeah, Ken Shamrock and the Gracies. Not loosing an ounce of interest to both sports. So, to me, and to still quite a lot of people, both Boxing and MMA are alive and well and still blocks dates in every single week. Quote Link to comment
Pentatonic88
MMA will not k*ll boxing. they have there own thing. They both complement each other On the other hand, Filipino are just embracing the art of MMA We have a lot of competitive boxer but with MMA, its on the process. Quote Link to comment
JustSmile=)
We have tons of good fighters in the Philippines. OneFC is proving that, though the last event in PH every Pinoy fighters lost. Such a bummer. Back to the topic. I would choose MMA all day. Reason being, I can watch the whole card, even prelims without me falling asleep. Admit it, in boxing events how many fights do u watch? Only the main event. Also, I agree with one post above. Boxing will k*ll boxing. Boxing has become so dirty with all the fight fixing happening. In a Pacman fight, how many dudes should be in the ring with the fighter? What business do they have in the ring? Quote Link to comment
emz404
Soon MMA will be more popular !!! Quote Link to comment
Edmund Dantes
Hindi naman siguro. Marami naman combat sport dyan kung tutuusin pero marami pa din ang nanonood ng boxing. Sabi naman ni Dana White mismo di ba? Hindi naman nila pinapatay ang boxing. You can be a fan of boxing and still appreciate MMA.
dbg
Mma, boring kasi ang boxing.... Quote Link to comment
stormshadow34
boxing is boxing. mma is mma. there will always be fans of either (or both) sports.there might be "eras" for each sport depending on personalities on each side, but both are established already and none will fold, in my opinion. TitoAnton
siguro boxing pa rin. bukod sa mas malaki ang prize sa boxing, matagal na ito. Quote Link to comment
slowfolks
I think in a way MMA has taken over boxings market. Neither sport will ever go away, but as a whole i think MMA has the larger fanbase. People really follow the sport. As for boxing, most fans follow 1 or 2 of their favorite fighters. What makes MMA stand out as a sport is that it is continually evolving. The fighters, disciplines, techniques, etc. Quote Link to comment

slowfolks
But yes, comparing the 2 sports isnt fair. Theyre both combat sports but they are totally different sports. Its like asking which is better, tennis or badminton. At the end of the day the 2 sports have their own niche. Quote Link to comment
