What Is Your Purpose In Life?

Recommended Posts

I think Im here to do what I can...  Life isnt about a purpose.. an end goal.. its about how we live it.  Our lives affect other people whether we like it or not.

Remember we will all die naman.. We must make the journey as happy and as fruitful as it can be.  Its all about being happy with where you are now.

:)

What if the purpose is carrying on with the journey well? Because carrying on with the journey well allows you to take part in the continuing process of creation, and will give you happiness, and will make your existence fruitful. Is life not about a purpose then?

Asking more and more questions-the same exercise that led to the greatest discoveries. Because it is only in the questioning of the mind that any truth is arrived at. Sorry to dissent with you mate.

Hey, tatel1ph! No biggie. I always welcome different perspectives on any subject matter. True, true. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Nothing questioned, nothing learned....

I wish I knew. It would make my life seem more cinematic and Purposeful.

As opposed to the reality I wake up to everyday, which come to think of it isn't that bad. I got it, maybe my Purpose is to be Grateful for waking up. But, I might be in the wrong forum for this realization... :goatee:

i read this in anne rice's servant of the bones, and i think it fits this discussion perfectly.

There is one purpose to life and one only: to bear witness to and understand as much as possible of the complexity of the world -- its beauty, its mysteries, its riddles. The more you understand, the more you look, the greater is your enjoyment of life and your sense of peace. That's all there is to it. Everything else is fun and games. If an activity is not grounded on "to love" or "to learn," it does not have value.

isn't that a very beautiful thing to say?

perhaps the purpose of living is to make things better, not only for ourselves, but also for those who surround us.

so that when we are finally laid to our rest, we may be remembered as someone who tried [at the very least], to make this world a better place to live in.

i, on the otherhand, don't want to milk my brains dry trying to figure out the essence of whatever organism.

let the scientists do their job.

We exist as part of a complex equation which creates balance in the universe. Like every cell in our body serves a purpose, so does every person contribute in the grand scheme of things. No matter how infinitesimal, no matter how insignificant we think one life will make in a million years, it was meant to be. Doing whatever comes naturally is exactly what you're supposed to be doing---because you're you.
