topak Posted May 25, 2006 Share Posted May 25, 2006 it seems like pldt changed their dsl login procedure so i now have to login on a webpage. i can no longer have my router dial up and sign in. it's very irritating because that means my PC has to be on all the time for me to use the router for wifi surfing on my PDA. maybe the intention was to prevent internet connection sharing. who the hell knows. but if anyone knows a workaround to this, pls share naman!!! If there is a problem, call in the morning - get results after a few minutes to a few hours. If severe, a lineman drops by within the same day or the morning after. Quote Link to comment

Configure my wifi router to have the IP address assigned by PLDT, and set my Wi-Fi router as a DNS. hook all my wired PC to the Wi-Fi router using the 4 lan ports and viola...... even without the PC for as long as the two routers are active i can surf via Wi-Fi Quote Link to comment

I tried calling them but they wont troubleshoot over the phone! they said they will dispatch a technician out.I was just asking them a very simple question about the modem/router settings and they couldnt answer me! Configure my wifi router to have the IP address assigned by PLDT, and set my Wi-Fi router as a DNS. hook all my wired PC to the Wi-Fi router using the 4 lan ports and viola...... even without the PC for as long as the two routers are active i can surf via Wi-Fi<{POST_SNAPBACK}> are you on a residential or a corporate account? if you are on a residential account like i am, sooner or later they will change your login procedure. it's part of the switchover to the IP-based NGN infrastructure. the new procedure is that you have to login on some cisco webpage. when i try to login with my router, i just get a message that it cannot obtain an IP address. so much for that... according to customer service, the only way for me to login with my router like before would be to upgrade to a corporate account which is more expensive and slower than what i currently have (2mbps). Your right, w/ the system, everytime their server detects another hardware you'll get re routed to their webpage for login.....same w/ smartwifi.... One way of getting around it is using a switch instead of a router and asssigning one p.c as server... that how i did it in our network... hehehehehehe... Quote Link to comment

Now here comes PLDT Weroam which promises wireless internet access anywhere anytime. Have any of you tried this service? How is it compared to WiFi in terms of speed and ease of access? We were told that it had somethjing to do with a problem in their "switch cabinet" or something like that. When the line was restored, our phone bill arrived about a week later and, lo and behold, they were charging us even for the time when we had no line... We contested it, of course, but nobody seemed willing to admit the problem, not customer (dis)service, not the business center, not the technical staff or anyone in PLDT. We haggled for a discount at least proportionate to the time when our lines were down. No dice. Our line was cut and some smart aleck suggested we re-apply using a different name.. I am Grumpy Posted June 10, 2006 Share Posted June 10, 2006 agree...MyDSL sucks...in a span of 2 years, mga 7-8 times nang nag-down yung connection ko...what sucks is that it takes 3 calls to their customer service department before they actually send someone over to change your modem or reconfigure your settings or whatnot...sana may direct line na lang sa tech support nila so I won't have to deal with those customer service representatives...<{POST_SNAPBACK}> i guess you are not the only one experiencing this problem. i too have not had a day wherein my dsl either has no link or if there is a link its either very slow or not responding. during one of the times the repairman went to our place, i took time to ask him the nature of the problem we are encountering. in our short conversation, i found out that there are two networks handling the dsl internet service of pldt. one is alcatel and the other is nortel. as to why there is a problemat in dsl line, each dsl port can handle around 8 subscriber which share the bandwidth. if for example you are grouped in a port where there is a very big subscriber, then it will eat up the bandwidth allocated in the port causing all the other user's dsl service to go bonkers. this is futher aggravated by the fact that there is probably no system in assigning the port so there is always a chance that any of us can be grouped with a very big user. this may explain why my dsl service is usually cut from 9:30 am up to 12 midnight because i was probably assigned to a port where there is a big user. i hope this can explain some of the problems that we have. feel free to comment on my post!
